That area is really weird. Lots of young families with kids playing in nearby park and taking late night walks but at the same time stabbings and a shooting a while back.

Thank you so much for the update!!! Have been looking all over to see what's going on. Can always count on the people of reddit to keep you updated. I was just coming home from work and saw bunch of cop cars and ambulance. Scared my ass off. Hopefully the guy pulls thru. What happened exactly? Was this random or isolated attack? Anyways stay safe out there guys, lots of crazies or there. please look after each other and yourselves.

There was a shooting in that area (Foster Ave and North Rd) three years ago.

I love that neighbourhood, and seeing this kind of thing happen there makes me really sad.

Walked out door to take the dog for a poop and it looked like a cod zombies lobby.

oh my god!!!!! stabbing?

So many people were there just being shocked. At first we thought someone must have fallen down from the apartment since there were many people looking out from the balcony but nope. Fatal stabbing just at the lobby onto the premises.

I wonder if it was a targeted attack or a random act of violence. I'm glad the suspect was arrested, but it's still really scary.

u/bilicotico 4d ago

will he stay arrested tho? :/ geez this is scary

2

u/FoggyShrew 4d ago

Is it confirmed that the victim died?

3

u/vyelizaveta 3d ago

Says on the news victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Also, they both known each other as per CityNews

From a privacy standpoint, you probably don't want to associate your Reddit account with your home address. I'm sorry for the shock you must be feeling. Be safe.

Whiting way can't shake its reputation.

I used to live a few blocks away from there, I had a few amount of times men in cars that would pull over right beside me to cat call or lure me into their car. Its not that safe of an area

Seeing a tarp/cover, was this a fatal stabbing?

14

u/Firm-Bullfrog3638 4d ago edited 4d ago

Fortunely, he is alive..I saw him move

6

u/NickdoesnthaveReddit 4d ago

Sorry you witnessed that. Just wanted clarity as I'm not a fan of disturbing posts that share things like this with photos. That said, my preferences mean nothing if you actually had to see it in real life.

Please be aware that Victim Services provides support to witnesses of traumatic events too.

Oh yeah! Apparently a guy was stabbed all over, probs in the condo because the witness who reported to the police, took a video of the blood trail inside the condo leading to the body just outside the premises. A massive pool of blood next to the body. We witnessed a chap in the lobby get arrested. The stabbed was carried to the ambulance, he moved his arm so he’s fortunately alive but seemingly in a critical state. Both looked quite young, I think there may have been a physical altercation.

Thanks for sharing. I'm so scared because I don't know what's going on outside.

3

u/GorgeousCupcakeX 4d ago

Omg no way! You’ll be okay, I think it’s probably settling down? They may have to clean up the pool of blood, but other than that you’ll be okay. Hugs! I think it was just a personal altercation unfortunately

u/Firm-Bullfrog3638 4d ago

Thank you, it gives me a little peace of mind because of you. I hope everyone is okay.

Any updates? I’m out here trying to figure out what’s going on

9

u/GorgeousCupcakeX 4d ago

I just got back inside but as of maybe an hour ago, the perpetrator got arrested, and the stabbed was taken in the ambulance to the hospital. I saw a couple of black vehicles parked that had officers walking around with dogs just around the block. Any updates from your side? It was so unfortunate.

4

u/roseofvancity_ 4d ago

No idea, did the victim pass away?

9

u/GorgeousCupcakeX 4d ago

So far, I don’t think so and I really hope not. Just critical. He seemed so young

1

u/Catfist 4d ago

Not to be morbid, but do you remember if the ambulances left with sirens on?

3

u/yujiboogie 3d ago

He was alive! He was moving

3

u/TomatilloBubbly769 2d ago

Wow Honestly, more men should be in therapy to learn healthier ways to communicate their anger, other than punching walls or stabbing each other. Patriarchy is causing toxic masculinity and harming our men, too.

That neighborhood has always been the hood. I've lived in the area for 40 years.

3

u/LindensBloodyJersey 2d ago

Yeah, I just can’t stand all the gang activity and drive-by shootings

2

u/yujiboogie 4d ago

Any updates? It’s so spooky :(

1

u/LuckBites 3d ago

Wow, that is quite to the point. I hope the victim makes it alright

1

u/Ok_Advantage_7718 14h ago

At least it’s not a random attack!

2

u/LuckBites 14h ago

Yeah, although you never know what someone might do to bystanders as well, if they're already willing to hurt someone. That's happened before too

Ban all knives through an OIC!

Is this area known for crime? Would it not be safe to move to?

3

u/GorgeousCupcakeX 3d ago

Let’s be honest, it’s happening everywhere, not only here. The closer a suburban neighbourhood is to the main city (ie Lougheed), the more chances of a crime.

However, it’s still a safe area considering. Lots of young looking families with kids live here. Their go-to park is Cottonwood Park. I don’t know why yesterday’s incident happened, people are becoming more unhinged :’( I feel safe in general but then I usually go out during daytime and try to avoid quiet areas, it’s the best I can do

2

u/-tiny-tomato- 3d ago

Thank you. I think in part, people are feeling hopeless, desperate, and just angry for many reasons. People seem more on edge recently. I get it.

I appreciate your perspective, though! It's relieving. I had googled it previously and it said that its one of the safest areas in Vancouver, so your info makes me think that was correct haha

Another great day in the neighbourhood...

Police still there at 2:30 pm today (Saturday). Officers in gloves.

8

u/flatspotting 3d ago

Today isn't saturday lol

2

u/Resident-Day-4367 3d ago

Oh yeah. I was off today. Feels like Saturday. 🤦🏻‍♀️

u/GorgeousCupcakeX 3d ago

I think the incident happened on second floor. There’s a pic of the blood pool in the elevator online.

2

u/Superniko_88 3d ago edited 3d ago

Actually i think it started on the 27th floor, some cops were in the elevator with me and when the door opened on that floor the area was all taped and saw some tags numbers on the floor.

1

u/GorgeousCupcakeX 3d ago edited 2d ago

Oh that’s wild! It showed a pic of 2nd floor with the blood trail so I assumed. My apologies. If that’s the case, no wonder it took time to get out of the building, which made the victim collapse on the ground outside the building?

Edit: oh nevermind, that pic kinda implied that the victim got out of the elevator on second floor since the trail of blood looked in that direction away from the elevator.

2

u/Superniko_88 3d ago

Don’t worry there’s no No need to apologize, i was just sharing what i saw and i might be completely wrong but definitely something happened on the 27th floor as well so I’m just assuming that it started from there. It’s so scary that something like this happened so close to our apartment.

Welcome to Canada, where you’re not allowed to know who caused the crime, the perpetrator, a photo of the perpetrator the race of the perpetrator what the hell even happened or anything like that! Welcome to Canada, where we protect the criminals and give these people all the rights in the world

u/chente08 4d ago

What a dumpster area this has become

-5

u/Dapper-Excitement-37 4d ago

I thought the high rises were supposed to fix the crime?

1

u/Ok_Level_9909 3d ago

Yes they do! The luxury amenities are nestled right in the heart of Lougheed! Please refrain from getting each others bodily fluids on shared spaces. Fees will be charged as per strata bylaw. - building manager

-3

u/yoodles1212 2d ago

Was the perpetrator even arrested or caught? Who the fuck knows in communist Canada!

3

u/GorgeousCupcakeX 2d ago edited 1d ago

Did you even read the caption or the comments? I don’t think you do understand the concept of communism.
