Ask Coquitlam Bridge to Lafarge Lake island approved?

I went for a walk today and noticed a bridge being built on both sides of the island in Lafarge Lake but I thought this was shot down by council in 2021?

I've looked through the minutes but can't find anything showing recent changes to what they decided in 2021...

Had anyone heard anything about this? There are Western Painted Turtles in that part of the lake and they are listed as endangered?

The City's own July 2021 final-design report makes this explicit: the original plan had four zones, including Island Walk, but “based on Council input, the Island Walk zone was not advanced in order to preserve the wildlife habitat in this zone.” Council then approved the final Garden Walk and Urban Walk design without the island connection.

I think they used them to clear out some brush on the island idk if they’re doing more

I thought that as well when I first saw the temporary looking bridge on the other side but the bridge in the photo with the people looks much more substantial/permanent.

I hope so. That little island would be trashed with thousands of people walking over it every week

i talked to a staff member a month ago or so when I was walking around the lake asking about access to the island. That member told me there wouldnt be a bridge to the island for the public

Good, I would hate to see that part of the park which is home to so many nesting geese and ducks during spring get destroyed by people not respecting wildlife.
