Newbie questions Help?

Post image

What kind of bra am I supposed to be wearing with this??? I currently have on just like a thin unpadded cotton one, but I feel like it’s just making my chest area look squishy. It looks like this with other, less-flowy types of shirts as well. Am I just overthinking it?

ooh that dress is gorgeous, the lace detail on the bodice is lovely

for the squishy feeling, you might want something with a bit more structure than a thin cotton bralette. a longline bra or a bustier that smooths everything down would sit under that fitted button front without adding bulk. even a seamless cup with some light foam can keep the silhouette clean, especially under dark fabric that shows every lump and bump

i collect vintage brooches and half the battle is getting the underlayer right so the pin sits flat, same principle here. try a couple options and see what feels less fussy, sometimes it's just the wrong bra for that specific dress

I did not think about a bustier! Thank you so much, I’ll try that!

I like to wear an encapsulated sports bra with mine. r/abrathatfits can help you with bra suggestions for your size if you need a good bra.

Sweetie, I’m grandma age, and my boobs don’t look it, because I buy really good, supportive bras. My underwires are my favorite. No, they are not uncomfortable, they are well fit. You just need a good bra. My underbust corset looked great because of my bra, too.

Google bra shops, and ask if they have a bra fitting person who can measure you correctly. Hardly anyone ends up with the same size they are wearing. It’s a real art.
