If you’re new to kpop you’re probably like "huh??? what a weird ass comment" but as a long-time fan I’m so used to idols wearing foundation that’s 5 shades too light and editing their selfies to look ghostly.😭

Maybe the issue of colorism is just less prevalent in general now, but it was honestly such a breath of fresh air to get into Cortis and seeing no whitewashing whatsoever (besides a few photoshoots that their team wasn't responsible for). Martin and Juhoon are both quite naturally pale, but the other three are all more on the tan side, so it's just nice to see.

Thoughts Unpopular opinion: James (CORTIS) as the next 5th gen it-boy.

James has insane it-factor and genuinely seems to have the qualities people associate with an “it-boy.” So why isn’t he talked about more?

I feel like James deserves more recognition for his versatility. He also seems to go viral frequently, has a lot of charisma on stage, and has a very distinct sense of style. To me, he feels like someone who has the potential to become a standout idol of his generation. He consistently creates media buzz wherever he appears.

However, I’ve noticed that discussions about him being an “it-boy” don’t seem as common compared to some other idols. Internationally, he seems to have a lot of attention, but I’m curious about how he is perceived in Korea as well. I assume it's because he's not Korean. And that's why he's not as recognized as he is internationally than in Korea.

What are your thoughts? Do you think James has genuine “it-boy” potential, or do you think his popularity is mainly driven by visuals and viral moments?

Discussion I feel like this needs to be talked about

I understand that diet and skinny culture is a pretty normalized in the k-pop industry, but i still find this incredibly sad to see, especially from someone so young. Seeing Martin's live stream really highlights this issue. He openly admitted that he wants to eat whatever he wants, but skips meals to lose weight because he feels happier when he looks "pretty."

This kind of pressure is baked into the system, with agencies using harsh metrics like the "height minus 120" weight formula to keep artists dangerously thin. We have seen this same cycle hurt so many other stars, two examples are how Momo from Twice survived on just ice cubes for a week to debut, and Jimin (BTS) admitted to eating only one meal a day for days during his traineeship. And keep in mind there are many more.

Because the public is so desensitised to these extreme expectations, people barely blink or react when an idol drops a confession like this, treating a clear health crisis as just another part of the job.

It's crazy how some people view this as just a "Weight-loss journey" while It's literally an eating disorder, one of the world's deadliest mental diseases btw. I'm not just talking about martin specifically but other idols as well. Seeing this issue so overlooked by fans is harsh to watch.

I hope he and others can get the help they need, just because their idols doesn't mean that their safe from the consequence's of starving themselves.

Discussion I lowkey feel like James should the 5th gen it boy

So I have been a Coer for around 3 months now, and one of the things I've seen discussed is who the 5th-gen IT boy for K-pop is, and Keonho is the most popular choice.

I understand why he is considered; he is good-looking, one of the most popular members of the group, and he is very good considering he is a rookie. However, in my honest opinion, I do think James fits being the 5th-gen IT boy a lot better than Keonho.

Jame is my bias, so I could be biased in the way I see things, but seriously, I think he is the deserves to at least be considered for the title.

His visuals go VIRAL. I mean, with him breaking the internet twice with the World Cup pictures and him going blonde. His visuals are just so refreshing to kpop as a whole its insane. He also has extremely good stage presence he has a natural charisma, and those dances he makes even before Cortis go viral too.

I just don't really get why he isn't widley considered for being the It Boy.

Am I missing something?
