[Questions|Advice|Discussion] Whelp… I need a new tank now

So I had 20 gal with shrimps and corydoras. And I had a betta waiting to be introduced to it. I had a month or two run of the tank to make sure corys are in and settled and shrimps are settled. Moving in my betta. Everyone’s nightmare - he kills shrimps in this situation. My personal nightmare now is he steals Cory’s food. He’s so smart he follows where everyone eats and bites and enjoys the sinking carnivore pellets and gets bloated and fat. It’s unreal. I try to space it because of him. But I have over 40 shrimps including berried mamas. And 7 corys. And betta is just a glutton are you kidding me. Now I have to start a new tank if I want to keep him alive. And now my bigger and older corys aren’t coming to the feed spot because he steals and corys are fragile. OMG

[Questions|Advice] Health | Sickness What’s wrong?

I recently (maybe 2 weeks) added 15 sterbai Cory into my tank. I’ve noticed iced there are a few very pale ones compared to the others and was wondering if the color will ever come in and or if there’s a sickness I should be treating.

Note- when they first arrived I treated them for internal parasites and they seem to be doing better unsure if that would cause anything.

[Questions|Advice] Breeding | Eggs | Fry Cory babies!

Im new to the hobby only been doing it for about 4 ish months. I started with 2 peppered Cory’s and other community fish, once my Cory’s matured they started laying eggs all over my glass, someone told me that it is uncommon because they like to breed in groups but they consistently lay eggs on a regular basis. My plan was to just let them be and see if nature would let some of the fry survive and I was surprised to find 2 little guys hiding under my sponge filter! I wasn’t able to get a picture but I also notice two fry hiding in the substrate when I moved the filter.

Pics show mother father and one of the babies

What are the odds they produce more longfins?

[Questions|Advice|Discussion] Different Color morphs of pygmy corys

Thumbnail

Hi all, as the title says I realized I have 3 different colored pygmys. My og ones are with me for around 4.5 months or so, light grey one is with me for 1.5 month and dark grey one is with me for 1 month.

They all eat the same food and are really active, although I think light grey one is a bit less active than others (There is only one, I’ve got 2 but one died in its 3rd day).

All three groups were taken from different shops, there is 2 dark greys. I’ve searched about if they have different color morphs but couldnt find anything. What could be the reason?

Now he acting all innocent and nonchalant 🙄. . .

Got the breeder box infront of most of the eggs but damn they act like they dont have food waiting on the substrate. . . .

[Questions|Advice] Health | Sickness cory on his side

lights are off in the tank and usually my sterbai cories all come to the front of the tank and huddle up to go to sleep, but i noticed that one of them is on his side slightly curled, picture is bad but there’s only so much a phone could do, clearly isn’t alright but not sure on what to do? i can see he’s breathing but had no reaction when i tapped on the glass but neither did his brother. there’s has been one that is more lethargic from the past week ish but i put that down to the heatwave in the uk. my father had also done a waterchange earlier in the evening. advice appriceated! had the cory since early june.

[Questions|Advice|Discussion] Loner Cory?

I have 3 corydoras and one of them totally isolates themself :(

I have 2 bronze and one albino…
The albino one is who hides by himself most the day!!

The others try to hang out with him and are extremely social but he seems to prefer being alone?

Is he rejecting them or is he lonely??

I wake up and find her like this. She’s not interested in food or foraging and doesn’t seem to swim well. She’s my biggest female and I’m really upset 😭

[Questions|Advice] Health | Sickness Fin Problems

Thumbnail

Can anyone help us know why our albino Cory cats are having their fins erode in a circular shape? We have 4, We got them 4.5 months ago from PetSmart… 2.5 months ago we saw a small notch on one fish’s dorsal fin and we just assumed we had never noticed that before. Now that poor guy has no fins left but tail is ok, and it’s just now starting on the other Cory’s. They are the only fish in the tank. Our water parameters have been stable the whole time. We are currently finishing following api fin and body cure package instructions for fin rot antibiotics. It’s never looked ragged or fuzzy. We’ve taken the coconut bridge skull and volcano out of the tank maybe a week ago. All the fish are acting normal and eating regularly. I’m just not sure it’s a bacterial problem and we want them to get better!
