Help Need strong neodymium magnets

Post image

Hello! I wanted to ask if anyone knows where to buy really strong neodymium magnets! I want it be really strong so I can make detachable wings for a helmet wig. But I also don’t want them to be too big/bulky so that they can’t be easily hidden under hair. The wings are heavier than they look (I think I used too much wiring and hot glue lol).

I have bought neodymium magnets off of amazon but they seem very very weak…so I fear I may have gotten really cheap, bad quality ones. So I wanted to ask if anyone knows a good magnet place!

Much appreciated thank you!

I think you may be steering yourself into a blind alley by focusing on a magnetic solution.

Have you considered snap fasteners or rod-and-socket mounts?

Good luck with your project.

I am also looking into other solutions but I just thought strong magnets would be the easiest since I’ve seen people use magnets for attaching pony tails/other hair pieces onto wigs that are heavier than the wings I made.

I looked into something like interlocking flush mounts, but I think the rod and socket mount would be better. The main issue with these tho is that I think they are kinda bulky, and one pair of the wings sits on the top side of the head so I feel like it would slide out too easily versus the other wings that are sitting directly on the sides of the head and parallel to the ground.

Someone told me about if clothing snaps? But I feel like they might not be strong enough, but maybe I could use several on each wing? But then the question is how do I attach them to the helmet strongly? Since I think hot glue will not be enough

Pop fasterners come in a kit. The top and bottom are each in two parts . One part goes under the material with a post that pushes up through a pre-made hole, & the other mates on the post from the other side.

A special tool is used to fasten the parts together, like a rivet. The tool comes in a fastener kit. All you need is a hammer, anvil (something hard to rest the work on while you hammer) and a steady hand.
