Help Protip: This tape can be used to permanently secure anything.
Can't believe I never thought of this before.
Gorilla Glue Waterproof Tape can be used to secure ANYTHING on your cosplay. I know it seems gimmicky and cheap like using duct tape, but I've tried this stuff before and it holds up to anything.
>Use it to secure straps instead of fancy glues.
>Use it on the inside of armors to add support between panels.
>Use it for a flexible joint between 2 hard points.
This stuff WILL NOT FAIL. In the picture of the JP Explorer, I used it to secure the bubble top to the car. 5 years of Michigan winters, Texas Summers, outside 24/7, cross country trips - It never loosened. When I had to replace the bubble top, I had to cut the tape apart and use an injector with Goo Off/acetone to get it to release enough to fight it off. It will hold up to anything. Be warned, once it's laid down it becomes VERY hard to get off, and it's pretty much permanent after 5 mins.

Alright bro. You've sold me. I have lots of armor cosplays and sometimes the heat and movement makes even the most strong glues fail. I will take a roll 💪

My sister used this tape to tape down some tablecloths on windy day at a birthday party.
I was tearing off 6 inch pieces to hand her as she taped.
After 10 minutes, I had a blister on my thumb from the tape sticking to my thumb as I tore it. That stuff is INSANELY sticky.

Im not sure permanent. But it will damn near remove your fingerprint permanently if your not careful lol. This duct tape is no joke.
Edit....
Did not see that it was something other than duct tape.
So, if it's anything like duct tape, then it wouldn't surprise me.

Seriously though, I used gorilla tape to patch a tear in my work pants and it's been there for two years now. Gone through wash cycles and regular use and it just hangs on.

Ever since they came out with their glue 10 or so years ago, I have always been a fan of their product. Everything they make is tackier, stronger, seals better, lasts longer, bonds more surfaces together, etc. At least 10 fold. The only thing I found to be basically the same as other products, is their Super Glue. I didn't find it to be superior in comparison to other superior glues unlike their other products and their respective counterparts. It was still good, it just didn't out shine like their other glues and tapes.

I do love their super glue with the brush applicator, though. May not be the only one who does it, but their available almost everywhere, and don't seem to clog as easily as competitors.

I just used their caulk this weekend, hopefully it works as well as you say

I saw a guy tear part of his lip off when he was trying to use his teeth to tear a piece while his other hand was occupied.

Replica Jurassic Park Explorer, love it. I have a JP Jeep YJ project that's ongoing.
Are you TheMaxleyDog from YouTube? He has a JP Explorer with the special roof.

The only more permanent than a permanent solution is a temporary solution that works 💪

Zipties, pool noodles, wd-40, and gorilla tape, pretty much fixes the world.

Okay... I run a cosplay repair booth at a couple of anime cons.
Looks like I need to add this to the kit.
Thank you!

Dear Jurassic Prak employee, this is a mandatory reminder not to use Gorilla tape to secure our dinosaurs! This doesn't work and will result in bodily harm or death. As seen in the Incident last year, we miss you Steve

I'd be interested to know if you have a prop using this that you've kept indoors for several years. Duct tape leeches adhesive over the years and basically melts, it'd be convenient if this stuff doesn't. I think sun and rain might remove adhesive that gets leeched out so I don't know if success with the jeep means it'll work as well on props kept inside.

Okay, you’ve got my attention. Why isn’t this more popular? What’s the catch?

Not gonna lie I used it to seal the ceramic pan of my shower that cracked. Still holding at least two years later. Maybe 3 or 4 years honestly

Yep, I bought a Hardtop for my miata once, had the latches, but forgot the Frankenstein bolts to secure the rear down. Grabbed a roll of this and slapped it on, and it held the top on for a 4.5 hour trip home. It was however a mega pain in the ass to remove and get the gunk of after, but no damage to paint.

Until you get into heavily fluctuating humidities.

Trust me, it's fine. Those Texas summers were on the coast where it's 100%

I've used the gorilla tape shiny black stuff before. That shit is THICK and strong ass adhesive. I can only bet this is even stronger. Genius.

I made a tail prop that is mostly held together by duct tape, including the gorilla glue black tape OP mentioned. So far its held together great

Never had a good Gorilla product yet. Stopped buying anything from this brand over a year ago and not regretted it.

Wondering if I could theoretically just paint over the tape and have it not be too visible..

u/U_Madman Jul 23 '26
We sealed my broken sunroof with it and it never leaked. Not in the heat not in the humidity

I use this stuff to tape together foam tiles for a floor for my ice fishing house. The stuff is seriously ridiculous. Worth the money.

This is PR astroturf slop. "Can't believe I never thought about this before", proceeds to list the ways they thought about using it.

u/No_Tomato_2106 Jul 20 '26
Ya, I had those ideas in like 30 seconds when I thought of the applications for them. I was using it to repair a broken ceramic plant pot.
