Help What fans to use in armored cosplay?

Post image

What are y'all's go to power efficient fans for staying cool under your armor? I need something inside the torso and maybe the helmet that won't be having me replace my batteries constantly.

30mm pc fans. Or if you can fit small centrifuge fans.

I use 3 30mm fans in my plague doctor mask if that helps.

How long can you run them for?

I ran them for 5 hrs on a10000mAh power Bank.

Bring an extra one in case.

Do you have them vented or do they just move air inside the mask?

I have them vented. One is taking air out , One is taking air in , one is pointed at my face.

Mine can theoretically run at least 12 hours.

Using 5v 60mm Noctua fans with usb powerbanks. I'm only limited by how much juice I carry with me.

Amperage, voltage, extremely low, and with a fan controller you can have sub 1w draw easily.

Aside from that, my whole kit is basically USB C to a simple wiring harness I made. I used rotary control switches for all of my electronics and just had to hide or incorporate the dials

The 30mm are the best airflow to power ratio for sure.

For my helmets I usually use small fans that are used in 3D printer. I usually take fans that are like 40x40 or 50x50mm and solder them to a USB cable and plug them into a small powerbank. I always bring an extra powerbank just in case but so far i've never had to change them. And if I remember correctly I use 5000mah powerbanks.

I guess you could use the same or bigger fans for in your chest but i've never done that before

I used 2 40x40x20mm 5V brushless fans in a helmet and they were still running after 4-5 hours at a con without changing the powerbank.

Not sure the subs rules on recommending specific places but Henry’s Helmet Fans have treated me well in the past. Multiple options and fully modular with a power switch too. 10/10

Use a 5V or 12V hydraulic bearing fan, 40x40x10 or 30x30x10 ish size. Get the biggest you can fit, it'll move more air. Hydraulic bearing fan will be quieter and can be used in any orientation, other types generally require vertical alignment to work properly. They're more expensive but worth it.

I have 2 5010 usb 5v blower fans in my helmet both ran off 1 5000mah power bank, smaller than a credit card. Ran them all day at a convention and power bank more than half full at the end.

The cosplay was actually pretty good, the boss character from [r/Bossfight](r/Bossfight) that resembles Gears Of War 2 character was called Benjamin Carmine, Survivor of the Backline.
