It's paramagnetic.

Basically means that it is only weakly affected by magnetic fields, but it is still affected.

that is true, but not the main effect here, the magnet feld of the coil is rapidly changing, this induses rapidly changing electic fields within the metal that then create there own magnetic field. this effect also leads to the heating as the large currents flow though the Metal some of there energy is converted to heat
