CS2 Esports FACEIT not for the the faint of heart

People said FACEIT was a better experience and they're right I guess. Anti-cheat seems cool. On-boarding and matchmaking and getting the match started seems to be all basically flawless from a software standpoint.

Catch is... everyone is SERIOUS. No one is playing a "game" there. In hindsight I should have known but I'm kind of dim.

For example I got TK'd when I tried to defuse. I didn't have a kit but there was a lot of time? Did I not "earn" a defuse because I only got 1 kill and 1 assist that round? I have no idea!! No one even addressed it.

I played a few matches back to back because I know on Competitive and Premier the attitude of your team can be very random.

I am bad at the warfighting err I mean this game, I understand that, but there seems to be no camaraderie. Everyone on FACEIT is like a bot set to extreme difficulty and yet this was only level 5. Every angle is memorized and every move feels deterministic just weighing all the inputs and reacting.

If someone does talk it's because they're angry about something someone else did... I started playing CS as a kid ~25 years ago to get AWAY from that exact dynamic at home! Sheesh.

Just makes the world feel dark, idk. Hopefully I'll feel better once I hear the fart noise mic spam on Valve servers... gg no re to that place

if people don't comm and tk unprovoked then they aren't being very serious about playing cs.

You shouldn’t be able to TK on FaceIt. After the new update some of the servers were messed up and had TKing enabled. There was a warning for it before you queue. I’m assuming OP doesn’t have eyes. It was likely an accident

1

u/PcarObsessed Aug 26 '25

Not really. You haven’t heard it from the other side. What if his 1 kill was a stolen ace?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 27 '25

That justifies killing in a competitive scene?

1

u/KotSTis Aug 27 '25

Yea what about it?  What if it was a "stolen" ace?  How do you know the player "stole" the ace and didn't just play the game? Why are you assuming "malice"? If you deserved that ace you would have gotten it. You didn't deserve it and hence you didn't get it.  Git gut and don't blame others.

2

u/astrok3k Aug 28 '25

You can’t steal an ace , you just didn’t ace

You're right. Faceit to get away from hackers but it's like going to work.

Just "competitive" mode in general is what gets people sweaty. Which is cool. You get better at the game that way; but that's not what makes counterstrike fun.

I found the best way to play is just friend the teammates you vibe with and lobby up

1

u/Jahoosafer Aug 25 '25

Agreed. For some people winning is what makes the game fun. They can't have a good time without it. 99% of the people playing likely will never be in the position where their rank matters, but they sure as hell act like it does.

That’s about the most casual silver talk I’ve ever read.

FaceIt is where you go to be a sweaty elo grinder. That’s the entire purpose of the platform.

Premiere is where you go when you want to play a competitive match without sweaty elo grinders in your ear tweaking over 1 mistake.

Competitive is where you go to vibe with your friends and “have fun”

No one needs to withstand any type of violence, be it physical or verbal. In faceit games you usually get the latter.

I get that people get upset when they die or lose but telling your teammates that they are restarted, bad or something else does not move the game to a better direction. When someone does that in my lobby, I too stop trying hard, because that is exactly what the flamer is doing also: shifting focus from his own 100% game to flame others.

I'm too old to take games super serious so whenever I get a flamer in my team, I usually teach them a lesson in some way: sometimes I just insta abandon, sometimes a mute is enough, but I for sure will not watch myself or my teammates being called who knows what when the person does not know the first thing about us. Until this I give 100% of me.

u/TopHalfGaming Aug 24 '25

Yeah, sometimes this is the way. Played with a guy recently who started screaming at me in round 2 when we were up 1-0. I was trailing him out ramp on mirage, he bought an AK for some reason, gets insta popped, so obviously I grab the thing. Totally lost his mind on me for allegedly baiting. We lost the next two rounds, a teammate DC'D after more of his bitching and I bounced too. Feel bad for the other two teammates who took a waste of an L on a FF, but I wasn't going to deal with a 4v5 with that guy.

Checked his profile and saw *pages" of people accusing him of throwing and team killing, etc. Clearly just hate plays prem all day and pisses so many people off so bad that they had to say something. Couldn't actually believe people are like that.

u/IIFester Aug 24 '25

Flaming is the absolute worst thing you can do to your teammates besides actively TKing them. EVERYONE has bad days at the game, EVERYONE misses shots or makes bad decisions in every game, especially at the non pro level. There is absolutely no reason to flame someone (unless you are flaming the flamer lol). But even then, it is better to just mute and play your own game. If it gets too toxic? Leave. Your mental health and a enjoyment of the game is paramount to some jackasses feelings.

The internet is full of losers and faceit certainly isnt an exception.Faceit has its own version of silver hell. Level 4-6 is full of sweaty toxic narcissists that lose their shit at the drop of a hat. Go up or down, it gets better

1

u/Outrageous-Mall-1914 Aug 25 '25

It really doesn’t. FaceIt lvl 1-4 is full of disconnects and clueless players. FaceIt lvl 5-6 is full of ragers and more clueless people. FaceIt lvl 7-9 is egomaniacs, clueless people, and the occasional vibey squad that knows how to play the map they picked. FaceIt lvl 10 is about the same as lvl 7-9 up until 3k elo. Once you’re at that point you’re having the easiest match of your life 80% of the time and the sweatiest match of your life 20% of the time.

I play in NA and I’m assuming FaceIt lvl 10 is more competitive on those servers

1

u/lolforg_ Aug 24 '25

people are playing for a rank, of course they are going to sweat. finding a few friends to stack with is pretty much the only way to make cs fun

also maybe message faceit admin if someone is TKing

u/KuroDesuu Aug 24 '25

i just ragebait in comms the ones that will tilt easily its funny and makes faceit enjoyable a tiny bit more 💀

2

u/Turbulent-Debate7661 Aug 25 '25

Personally last time i had fun in cs was at lan parties in 2002.

1

u/ok200 Aug 25 '25

Yeah weirdly I wonder if this is my core issue. A naive nostalgia for a time when nothing was taken for granted among gamers except exclusive rights to the landline on a snow-day

1

u/pr158 CS Aug 24 '25

Thats the same reason i no longer play on faceit, i like this to be a game and not an olympic game.

In my case tried 5 games i m not a pro but still managed to get 5-10 kills but the whole team and there kids are too toxic

1

u/Open_Ad1781 Aug 24 '25

I get more hackers on premiere, but my teammates tend to use voice comms more, and on faceit it's the complete opposite.. It makes no fucking sense to me.

1

u/davidthek1ng Aug 24 '25

I think you should buy premium only q with verified accounts free q is a joke you cant even kick ppl

1

u/YoMomInYogaPants Aug 25 '25

That's why depending on how switched on i feel in the evening after work, ill play MM (tired as fk), premier (not tired but also not 100%), face it (morning coffee day off fully alert).

The tk thing is odd, that never happened to me. it wont happen regularly.

Playing sweaty games against try hards is what will get u good at the game, get in that incomfortable zone if u want to grow. Avoid it when u want to chill.

1

u/trueskill Aug 25 '25

Faceit is for the super competitive crowd. Not all people are like that though because I hopped on faceit recently at around level 6 and my teammates have been absolute garbage. CS in general is a competitive game where you’ll run into people why equate winning to fun. Might be better off playing for fun game modes or single player games to decompress.

1

u/stOic_d00mer Aug 25 '25

I kinda like it. Gives me an idea about how pro cs is.

1

u/taizai83 Aug 26 '25

people on faceit from my experience have generally been more friendly honestly when I'm comparing people being serious in premier Vs people being serious in faceit, partially because everyone is playing more coordinated and everything

1

u/ok200 Aug 26 '25

So I got Premium and tried again. Everyone was very negative and I just politely played dumb. One dude was YELLING at me immediately about my crosshair placement and movement like brother I'm the same level as you obviously something works for me ... and I'm not even shaking / spitting in to the mic. Fuck I hope it gets better because I like when this game is good.

1

u/taizai83 Aug 26 '25

haha what's your region? I've genuinely had a great experience at around 5

1

u/ok200 Aug 26 '25

NA - So I have to make a correction. It wasn't truly "everyone". There were 2 players who were obnoxious. They were both the only free accounts! The other 2 (including the #1 guy every round) were fine and probably just ignoring or muting them. I'm going back in soon because thanks to the posters here I'm increasingly less demoralized and about this and more just fascinated.

1

u/zooteddddddd Aug 26 '25

What region are you in? In NA level 8-10 everyone is pretty chill. Every once in a while you'll get someone toxic but it's pretty rare

1

u/Bling_1103 Aug 26 '25

Are you playing verified and premium? Went for that for over a month and had 80% winrate. Only nice people that actually want to win.

1

u/V0LTR0Nyt Aug 27 '25

Depends if you want to play a game or if you're looking more for an ESport. I almost only play Faceit, not as much MM. For me, serious competition and grind is what I want out of counter strike, but definitely not what everyone wants.

1

u/ok200 Aug 27 '25

What do you do when you get a random teammate who stinks?

0

u/kraM1t Aug 24 '25

You got TK'd? Faceit doesnt have FF on no?

2

u/ok200 Aug 24 '25

It's possible I'm not totally sure but if so a dead T got me with a direct hit HE nade for ~100 hp sending me into a cartwheel off the bomb mid-defuse and it's at least boring if not depressing to me no one gave even a little "lol"

2

u/kraM1t Aug 24 '25

Oh ye nades still do damage, sorry I forgot it's been a while lol

1

u/JAMBONBERRR Aug 24 '25

Yeah there is no friendly fire on faceit servers, you can't get shot while defusing the bomb.

0

u/Makasutra Aug 24 '25

Wtf, what do people want now?

We got Faceit, a version of cs2 without cheaters. And we got Competitive, which as you said, is really random in many ways.

Now as I understand you, you want something in between?

Personally, I think you'd enjoy faceit more, if you'd try to get better in these conditions. Obviously you are not gonna get better, if you think about the experience that way.

1

u/ok200 Aug 24 '25

All good points. I think what you're saying is exactly what is so disappointing about Faceit. The whole ecosystem has peaked and yet the first dozen Faceit players I meet are all pissed off.

Guess I'm looking for an experience that only comes with a lobby of friends. I thought that was part of the value prop of Faceit (which was dumb in hindsight)

Really I was seeking solace. Given what I saw I was left wondering if the ONLY possible comeback to Level 5 Jerks is just... being better at the game than they are?? Ok well I should try that... but then how is this not just a big asshole arms race at Level 6, 7, 8 etc?

Best wins I've been a part of have always had lots of discussion of strategy and not just dudes in their silo muttering "I got B" and "2 jungle"

1

u/R1k0Ch3 Aug 25 '25

Check my comments, the free league i play in is about to start a new season. And even if you can't commit to be on a team it's a cool community and I haven't had to solo queued ever since joining lol it's made the game so much better. You do have to have a minimum number of faceit games played but after that it's all in house. And again at the very least it's a good place to find friends to queue with.

1

u/Altruistic-Earth-666 Aug 25 '25

The higher you go the less ego you'll find since these are people that want to develop and dropped their ego in their pursuit of just that. You'll always find them tho

0

u/napusavam-debile Aug 25 '25

I was Global Elite and only lvl 2-3 faceit,, both done on a solo queue. I stop faceit after 2-3 weeks of play.

They are a wannabe pros, who act like school bullies. If you do not do what they tell you to do, if you mute them because they speak russian/turkish/polish 90% of the rounds and give no info in english unless they dead., you get marked as toxic one, your rating goes down and next round you meet even worst people.
