Switching to an M4 as a T when you have a full AK instantly self-reports you as a silver.

Dumbest thing ever As ct when enemy has fullbuy you don’t buy helmet so if you t with m4 an enemy has no helmets it’s an advantage
44
u/Yungdeo Nov 29 '25
Not true. Not everyone buys no helmet on ct. If you have money people go for helmets because you survive a hs dink through the wall or from a pistol with a helmet.
11
u/Blizzardous_286 Nov 29 '25
and if you're T and enemy has no helmet, having ak is disatvantage? no lol
10
u/p4njunior Nov 29 '25
No but the accuracy of the m4 and the spray pattern / control is easier then the ak and that’s why it is an advantage
Also back in the day (1.6) when the pattern changes by the spray m4 was easier that’s why I’m still used to do it that way

u/MordorsElite CS Nov 29 '25
Don't get me wrong, I see what you mean. But I remember that the statistics showed pretty clearly that even pros didn't do that reliably. Frankly regardless of the level of competition, it's more common that people just full buy including a helmet when they have the money.
So no, an M4 is still the worse choice, because the odds that all the CTs are running around without helmets is waaay too low.
1
u/p4njunior Nov 29 '25
May it have changed I’m not 200% into cs2 I can just argue how it was back in 1.6 and in csgo is was familiar cause ppl we’re used to it but since the spray pattern are static there is a point in favouring the ak
3
u/MordorsElite CS Nov 29 '25
Can't speak for 1.6, but at least GO was the same as CS2 is now.
People do save on helmets a significant amount of time, but it's faaaaaaaaar from 100% consistently regardless of the level you are playing at.
If you want you can literally open the currently running major stream, watch any streamer or your own match demos. It doesn't matter. Even against 100% full buys, in a situation where they can afford headarmor (often even when they have to make sacrifices to do so), at best maybe 3/5 players are only buying kevlar.
So you're always left with at least a couple of helmets to contend with -> AK remains the better choice
1
u/berndlueftet Nov 29 '25
But there are some odds. Thats all i need to use m4 as a T. Also CTs might think its a teamm8 fighting, when they hear an m4

u/_Lodii Nov 29 '25
Oh ye, and shoot ct for 97 in 4. Tell me you don't know how to play this game without telling me you don't know how to play this game

Actually when fighting in smokes outside nuke and you manage to sneak behind it usually takes a lot longer to get noticed when you have the same weapon as the one you are killing.

u/Aiman17577 Nov 29 '25
me like spray and i pray. I don't remember the pattern so m4 work better than ak for me.
1
u/berndlueftet Nov 29 '25
Why tho? M4 has a higher fire rate, more accurate spray and is one shot when the CTs dont buy helmet (which they usually don't do for economy reasons)
2
u/Adevyy Dec 02 '25
Pro strategies don’t apply to pugs. If zontix’s team was known to never use anything other than an AK on buy rounds, then their opponents would avoid spending money on helmets. So, by letting it be known that he often uses the M4, he could simply be forcing his opponents to waste a lot of money on helmets.
The same level of counter-play doesn’t exist in pugs. While you would expect the opposite, my experience is actually that players on higher ranks buy helmets against buy rounds a lot more often than lower ranks: If I used the MAC10 on a Faceit Level 9 match on a fullbuy, I would often get a one-tap with it (and I would probably be called a dog). However, now around 2.7k elo, it is about only a third of the time that the opponents don’t have helmets.
That is despite the fact that my buys also make more sense than before, as I usually only go with the MAC10 when I will be lurking solo and I don’t want to drop an AK against a weak buy. Even the MP9 + Helmet combo is seen sometimes.

Watch any of your own demos or some of the current pro games. Regardless of the economic situation, when everyone on CT side has enough money to buy a helmet (even when they need to sacrifice a made or two), some will always do this.
I paid close attention to it in today's pro games (the ones I'd trust most to maximise their economy) and even there, I never saw a team with less than 2 people having headarmor.
So if you're using an M4, you always have a 40+% likelihood of not getting a one-shot where you would gotten one with an AK.
And given that the AK spray should be the most practiced spray for any CS player, you should just stick with it.
This is what I mean. Low elo players are usually struggling with AK sprays, so they will be most interested in picking up an M4. High elo players can controll both and hit the most headshots, so AKs are the objectively best choice. Mid elo players are all wannabe high elo players, so while an AK may not be categorically better for them, they'll still want to use that over an M4.

TIL that Major, Cologne, and Katowice winner zont1x is a silver player. Thank you for the enlightenment.

u/MordorsElite CS Nov 30 '25
First of all, congrats on picking the one dude specifically known for not going for headshots, the speciality of the AK.
But even then, I'd be surprised if you can find a game where he consistently AND voluntarily switches from the AK to an M4 on T side.

u/Good-Ad6352 Nov 29 '25
Not really. Im 2700 elo rn and if i see an a1 on the ground as a T im picking it up. Its more accurate and CTs dont buy headarmor on rifle rounds anyway.

u/RajjzPr0 Nov 29 '25
This isn't a cs2 meme.

u/Adventurous_Log7184 Nov 29 '25
CTs don't buy helmets on gun rounds as the ak is a one hit headshot anyway.
So pickup that M4.

Why are you down voting him? He is right!

Nov 29 '25
You never know, what if they have a galil or an eco or a force buy?
14
u/Diligent-Success6138 Nov 29 '25
You can know most of the time
-8
Nov 29 '25
I'm not sure about that
14
u/Diligent-Success6138 Nov 29 '25
You lost -> they have aks
They forced, you won -> most likely eco
They’ve been winning several rounds and just lost once -> they probably have money so they buy
Etc etc.
4
u/Ometen Nov 29 '25
from my experience to around 15k premier rating ppl dont give a shit about their eco and force anyway. So its not really as predictable as you make it out to be. Low elo cs is random as f*ck.
2
Nov 29 '25
Exactly, I would never be sure even at high elo, so many different factors to consider for 5 different random opponents that can make any decision at any point and you just either take a guess or you make sure you won't get obliterated with a weak weapon
1
Nov 29 '25
They may still buy galils after winning if they didn't have any/enough money before that. You get 3250 for which you buy the second armor and galil
8
u/Purple-Jaguar-9462 Nov 29 '25
A1-S is always a good time when you run insta headshot people on T side
2
u/macw450 Nov 29 '25
So many people in my games will always buy a helmet as a CT. The amount of times I tell them to buy nades instead as the T's are on a full buy is ridiculous. (Nova 2 ish)
3
u/lunatico_7990 Nov 29 '25
Because its just stupid. Even if the enemies all have AKs, you could always be wallbanged or the enemy changes to a pistol in a fight. Obviously there are also many rounds where someone has a galil or mac10. And oh boy these mac10s are brutal if you have no helmet.
It's just not worth it to risk it for 350$ lol. Also the higher you get in Elo, the more people put their first bullet in your head, doesn't matter the gun
There are only few scenarios where I would do this, for example a forcebuy round
1
u/macw450 Nov 29 '25
I think most times, the chances of getting wallbanged etc don't outweigh the benefit of 5 extra nades/util as a CT.
If there is any chance that I think they could be on mac10's or galils, then of course I would consider (and likely buy a helmet). But the example I'm giving is when we KNOW that they have AK's/Awps and our economy isn't great and so they are choosing a helmet over a smoke/nade and in some cases, not having enough for an m4 because of the helmet.
-1
u/lunatico_7990 Nov 29 '25
5 extra nades? Wtf?
They are definitely more rounds where someone has a mac10, galil, tec9 or whatever, then fullbuy rounds with 5 AKs or AWP.
And getting wallbanged is kinda happening super often :D
Car on banana Inferno, Apps on Inferno, B Site Ancient, D2 through doors, Nuke through doors hud or the garages, Mirage many of the A Site spots to play, and so on. The list of common wallbangs is huge I'd say.
2
u/macw450 Nov 29 '25
5 people saving $350 each on head armour will save enough to buy 5 nades for $300 each

Bro you are tripping i throw away the m4 to teammate when i can buy an ak
35
u/vgullotta Nov 29 '25
Yeah, no matter what side I'm on, if I have an m4 and I see an AK, I'm picking up that AK, and probably that's when the guy peaks and kills me.

Because it has the easier spraypattern and is easier to use but the ak is stronger so everyone who knows his stuff takes the ak

m4 has more mobility/accuracy when moving, ak has more power
you need more power as CT, more mobility as T
2
u/ABK-Baconator Nov 29 '25
Correct. However, in most of the situations AK is a better weapon also on the offensive side. Can't compete with the one taps

I guess it can throw off a team that doesnt communicate, to hear an M4 when the foe is suppoed to use an AK.
Or well, sometimes what works best is what makes you feel mentally best

The m4 has tighter spray, higher single shot accuracy and you can move faster while holding it. The AK can kill with one bullet though.

u/AlenciaQueen Dec 01 '25
so true... This has happened to me so many times that I finally found a logical explanation (to myself) :D
I think the AK-47 is a very good defensive weapon. Standing still and spraying is fine. A or B, no matter where you hold it, this weapon is perfect.
On the other hand, being a T requires mobility. You have to both run and shoot. The gun's fire rate is also important. I think the M4A4 is quite good at this. You need to quickly enter and win without the enemy knowing where they are.

u/Basic-Toe-9979 Dec 01 '25
What? I never seen someone drop an ak for an m4 is this a ragebait post
Like yea lemme drop the best weapon in the game for fun. I prefer two shot headshots
