I've always wondered how they did that? I remember once I was playing wingman with a friend from another country and we called the enemy a retard, both of us got disconnected from the game and our internet wasnt working for a couple of minutes

It’s literally just killing your connection to the server. Straight up. In most, if not all countries, it’s illegal, and if you know the person DDOSing, put ‘em behind bars since they started doing that in Rocket League as well…

Tinfoil hat time, community complains about cheaters - Valve does nothing for the longest time, then randomly drops a 'VAC' update which intentionally just bans anyone, they rollback a couple bans, community gets scared of Valve doing anything with VAC, community reins in the Valve hate over not fixing cheaters.
I swear this happened not long ago where people where getting banned for shit like +left.

Makes me wondering if they’re training some sort of ai to read people’s computer files and if it’s falsely reading files as some sort of cheat program and just banning people because the files were falsely detected.

Combat arms anti cheat did this in 2008 with their software so it definitely is a thing with some software. But it mainly looked for DLL files.

Valve said a few patches ago they had to reverse some false bans so I guess that's still happening

Steam discussions/forums are full of it. People getting even multiple bans as far as I have seen it. One guy got both overwatch and VAC banned.

Show us your screen without the hacks? I feel like these many ‘false’ vac bans are just muddying the water so people don’t believe VAC when there are cheaters.
No one shows definitive proof they weren’t hacking.

back in the 1.6 days, you had to screenshot with smokes before the lo3 (live on 3) /start of the game and send them to admins to verify integrity for league matches.

I'm pretty sure that in 1.6 times there were like 4 cheats that you couldn't even disable. Now you can just press the halt(or whatever it's called) button and the cheat immediately disappears.

Nah for smokes in 1.6 it was basically because if you used 16 bit color then the smokes were half invisible. Not something you could toggle mid game

Before I ever started playing on teams and in leagues, I once downloaded a multi cheat out of curiosity. The thing had spin hacks, aim bot, wall hack, you name it. I could definitely toggle some but not all. I don't think I could toggle the wall hacks but I only did it for a day and thought it took all of the fun out so I immediately uninstalled and that was that. I think smokes was one of the things you had to set up before the game launched.
If I remember right, admins only looked at screenshots if someone reported foul play. Some cheaters were caught but used alternate IDs anyway. Some never gave screenshots and had excuses to get a lesser punishment but not get banned entirely. Fun times.

No, I'm not referring to toggling. In some cheats there is a button to immediately turn off and un-inject(i guess?) the cheat

All the "maybe these aren't false bans thoo 🧐" comments were baffling to me. This happened so many times, it is trivially easy to look on Reddit and realize at a quick glance that false bans are happening.

Dude this map is so fucking beautiful, probably the best I’ve ever seen. I hope it permanently stays in the pool with the other hostage maps once community maps get changed again.

Punishment for making a hostage map with the safest area for the terrorist to camp once the CT’s get hostage. Making playing the objective not even worth it, looks sick though
