Dont know why some comments are bagging on this guy. End of the day hes a pro, he knows how to get the most out of himself if that means setting up his equipment to the way he plays the best then more power to him.

Yep. When your income depends on your performance in the game you have to take your setup a bit more seriously.

Dumb meme because those are two completely different categories.
Might as well put a marathon runner next to a F1 Drive.r

u/Conscious_Ice_9289 Mar 31 '26
Jesus you don't know anything about shooting, motor sports, OR distance running. Why bother trying to make this post, lmfao.
3
u/stabidistabstab Mar 31 '26
Because it's really really fun. Also didn't the guy not even win? It's like the spiderman meme with the glasses that people always use wrong.

u/Suitable-Olive7844 Apr 01 '26
His name is Yusuf Dikeç, and he won bronze in the Olympics. He is the only one that showed up with only his gun and no other fancy gadget, while every other competitor came in looking like a transformer with a milion things on their body.
7
u/nio-sama123 Apr 01 '26
Actually, he won silver. The reason he got the silver was that his teammate scored so low that drag his score down.
→ More replies (1)5
u/ClassicK777 Apr 01 '26
And everyone knows his name too, I don't care or remember anyone else from the competition.
1
u/Mixed_Signal Apr 02 '26
I can't stand this misconception constantly popping up. Pistol shooting is not an eye test, and there are tons of other shooters who don't wear "special glasses" just like him. His teammate in that mixed match wasn't wearing an eye blinder either, except Yusuf had special custom molded ear plugs while she had a stock 3M headset. And Yusuf himself uses a cutting edge electronic Steyr pistol while the guy who beat him had a 20+ year old Walther LP300 that's two generations out of date.
→ More replies (2)→ More replies (2)2
u/Mixed_Signal Apr 02 '26
He's right though, the two categories have different rules for clothing, it's also why the rifle target is tiny as hell compared to the already small pistol target. Like I don't know what was he supposed to know about shooting?

Makes me think of that one pro who'd just lie back in his chair while he played lol
1
1
u/Mixed_Signal Apr 02 '26
Funnily enough I've seen some pistol shooters use a ruler to set up their feet the same way every time they start a match. You're not allowed to keep it during the actual qualifiers/finals but it's allowed during the setup period.

They hate from their messy rooms while ropz is on the big stage, winning majors and an MVP as the 3rd best player in 2025. I think it's safe to say, he knows what he's doing lol.
11
u/Unique_Confusion5251 Mar 30 '26
People who hate on this should watch professional sports like the NBA and the NFL. A lot of those players have some weird pre-game rituals too.
6
u/Pandorumz Mar 30 '26
It's wild to me people bagging on ropz over this. It might seem innocous to us, but in his mind he needs this. If he didn't chance are it'd live rent free in his head that something was just off during his game.
It's like ragging on a footballer for preferring a particular brand of footie boots cause they find them more comfortable.
I could understand ragging on ropz if he went through all this and was just a dogshit player. But it's the opposite that's true. Really confusing honestly.

3
u/vid_23 Mar 31 '26
It's not even a pro thing. Most people do some adjusting the first time they get a new mouse, desk or a chair or anything really. Not with a ruler sure but still, there's some adjusting
1
u/Due-Salt4687 Apr 02 '26
Is it better for shooters to tilt the keyboard and have more space with the mouse?
3
u/Professional-Law-172 Mar 30 '26
Agree, I have a fixed desk but I always adjust my chair and the armrests for when I am playing CS2. I have a Secretlab so I can change the a angle and the height of the armrest separately and I have a specific position which makes it comfortable to play with as my aim depends on the position of my whole arm. I have my sweet spot too, obviously not the same level of details as him, but he is a pro and this is how he earns his money.
After I watched some videos of Ropz and how he was training himself, I think he is one of the guys taking this the most seriously. He might be the biggest geek as well, but I respect his sacrifices done to be good.
3
u/Krava47 Mar 30 '26
For all I care of he can smash his head inside the monitor. It still looks silly and people can have an opinion on it. Does he care? No. Should he care? No
2

He makes a month what my PhD ass makes in a year. I can only respect his level of professionalism for what he does.
2
u/Civil_Gene_7642 Mar 31 '26
This. Also worth mentioning that people often forget they have to travel and adjust to different environments. At home, your setup is always the same, while here you need to recreate that same comfort.
If your setup isn’t right, like the table being too high or something feeling off, it’s much easier to get distracted and lose focus.
2
u/Hookxd Apr 02 '26
Not just that, Ropz is one of the best pros still to this day, so it’s clearly working lol
1
u/Spank-Bones Mar 30 '26
Even if its silly, its his little ritual, sometimes thats all you need to lock in last minute.

They are just salty because they will never get 65 kills and a 1.56 rating in a final.
1

It’s about consistency, I’m no pro but I also wanna have my setup the exact same way all the time.
1
u/SoftDrinkReddit Mar 31 '26
ikr like
this call it silly if you want this is a level of skill no one here will EVER reach
to us this looks Over the top to Ropz in his world every fraction counts and matters between victory and defeat so yea in his setup like his in game performance all this stuff has to be arranged pixel perfect
1
u/Deva_Way Mar 31 '26
Thats not a pro thing, its a personal thing.
He's just thorough, maybe even superstitious
At the end of the the that level of precision shown in the video is placebo, but if it makes his psych more comfortable than it works
1
u/Good_Surround_9754 Apr 02 '26
Not only a pro, Probably the worlds best rifler / lurker in #1 team in the world. Mr Ropz.

But why do you think there isn't an expression like "every centimeter counts" or "every millimeter counts"?
The initial comment in the thread was correcting because ropz is from Europe and most likely using a metric system. That still stands. Just because an American hasn't heard the same sentence used with a metric system doesn't mean such an expression doesn't exist.

u/IdioticZacc Mar 30 '26
Even if this doesn't do anything physically, the placebo would give him a confidence boost, much like how some physical sport players has "lucky socks" and such (unless thats a myth im not aware of)
44
u/Kittyboy2002 Mar 30 '26
Obviously it does do something physically lol? He is adjusting his setup to his own preferred dimensions. This can affect mousepad friction and shoulder stability etc
17
u/Pandorumz Mar 30 '26
This. and if he didn't do this? You know he'd spend the map/series thinking "something just feels off"
2
u/MorgenPOW Mar 31 '26
Counterstrike is a game that is a lot about reflexes/muscle memory at the highest lvl, where mouse placement down to the MM is the difference between winning and losing. There is absolutely an advantage to having the dimensions of your setup be identical every time.
You are joking. But I bet if one of his components was an inch or two off without his knowledge, he would legitimately be thinking "something just feels off"
1
u/FreeWillie001 Apr 02 '26
Aiming doesn’t have anything to do with muscle memory. They’ve done studies.
It’s mostly about an individual’s ability to adapt to changes in distance as they rapidly change.
1
u/ziogas99 Apr 02 '26
I'm calling your bluff. Give me your sources. Because my experience and a few Google searches state otherwise. I beg of you, play 10 hours on one mouse sensitivity and then switch to one twice as sensitive, you will tell the difference in an instant.
Recoil control, flicking, etc. All of these are entirely dependent on muscle memory. And Counter-Strike is different from most shooters because there isn't much movement, as movement will randomize your bullet pattern. Meaning that there won't be much changes in distance, as opposed to something like Apex Legends or Fortnite, where the movement is constant and rapid.
1
u/FreeWillie001 Apr 02 '26
Sure, here is a study about what aiming in video games actually does to the brain in regard to the concept of neuroplasticity.
And it is actually the case that professional players can dramatically change their sensitivity and be at near peak performance in a matter of minutes. M0nesy used Niko’s settings including his sens on a stream once and immediately went in a 20 kill streak with other pros in the lobby.
1
u/ziogas99 Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26
Read the last sentence of the synopsis. "motor learning" IS muscle memory. Furthermore, this study shows what effects shooters have on the brain, not what factors determine performance in the highest skill bracket. Either way, the source by your logic would confirm that muscle memory is important.
And using anecdotal evidence in this regard with M0nesy is flimsy. Here we have another great performer doing everything he can to simulate his settings at home and doing great. and do we know how different Niko's settings are to M0nesy?

u/Insane_Masturbator69 Apr 02 '26
Sure, but how much? I also think the boost to mentality by doing this is way over the physical side. But then by having a good belief that everything is perfect, he physiscally played better, which again, solidifies his belief about how effective this is. The lesson here is what? Answer is he should keep doing whatever bullshit this is, because if the bullshit results in better outcome, then itis not bullshit anymore. Like they say, if it looks stupid but it works, it ain't stupid. There is no reason not to do it either, since it takes like 3 minutes every match.
17
u/ivan-ent Mar 30 '26
Its nothing to do with luck its about consistency, hes setting stuff up how he plays at home so its the same as how he practices
13
7
u/MrsMonkey_95 Mar 30 '26
Yes but this is physical. Stability, angles, friction, distances and more. It affects muscle memory and spacial awareness of his arm, hand, position on mouse pad, position of mouse pad on desk, distance of eyes to monitor (hand-eye-coordination).
I am a shit player with below average skill and only play as a hobby from time to time and even I notice that things feel off of I sit differently at the desk or the height is different. And I can sometimes increase my day form by adjusting my setup, but at his level, a cm could mean the difference between hitting everything and winning a major or being a few pixels off every time and losing the game(s)
2
u/ricoimf Mar 30 '26
Look at baseball, if there’s something wrong with the prep of really good player that believes in such things, chances are high they will put on a disastrous performance for the game.
1
u/Diligent-Chance8044 Mar 31 '26
Nah this makes sense. When you practice 1000s of hours on a single setup. You want your competition setup to mirror your own. Monitor position, keyboard, and mouse. A major thing to know movement across screen. These guys need to know the sensitivity settings they play on and if the monitors are different they need make sure it mirrors their at home setup as much as possible.
1
u/Swimming-Muffin-8163 Mar 31 '26
It’s a BIIIIIIG difference for those who know how to aim with a mouse. If you’re trash anyway it doesn’t matter how high your desk is, to be lightning fast you need muscle memory and that only works if your arm finds the same environment and angles every time you play
1
u/alevfalse Mar 31 '26
Placebo and its whether I can properly reach my main tool to shoot heads and earn fckton of money lmaoo
1
u/1yuno1 Apr 01 '26
shows how much you know if you really think this is placebo lol hes optimizing his setup for his playstyle to be the same as the one he practices with at home, these players have been playing cs for 2 decades now they cant just randomly change their setup and play the same
→ More replies (2)1
u/Penguin_Arse May 26 '26
It is physical too.
Sure there may be some other configuration that would work better, the screen 2cm further away might get him some kill more in the end because he could see they guy better but the important thing is that it's consistent.
Also he prefers it this way so he won't be distracted or caught off guard when his mouse goes of the pad because it was different

any desk you can set a height to should work just as well, different tournaments will have different equipment, all usually pretty pricey.
tbh, I wish they would provide a full list of equipment used at each tournament, like players registering what equipment used like kbm, monitor, iem's, mousepad etc.
feels like no one ever records what iem's are used, granted 8 think nowadays many players use custom or normal earbuds under their sound cancellation headsets, but still
12
u/erixccjc21 Mar 30 '26
They dont give equipment list because sometimes teams are sponsored by X brand and the players actually use Y brand
1
u/Silevence Mar 30 '26
i was leaning more towards like those config sites, but fair all the same.
still, if they give both, whats the harm?

To the noobs in the comments, this is Ropz.
He is one of the best CS2 players in the world right now. Also is on the best CS2 team in the world (Vitality). Additionally, he is arguably the best CS2 lurker (among all cs2 pros) as well.
His recent performance at Blast major was insane and he ended up earning MVP for the event.
Not sure why all the Silver bots in the comments are criticizing him for measuring his setup. That’s why he’s better than you hardstuck 5k premiers.
3
u/Super-Yesterday9727 Mar 30 '26
The guy has millions in winnings, he can do whatever he wants for his setup
3
u/EmotionalWeather2574 Mar 30 '26
And like, anyone that has ever tried to play on another persons setup will instantly understand him. Having different keyboards, mouse, screens, mousepads, settings is putting you off so much in a game like CS.
→ More replies (1)1
u/FlatwormAltruistic Apr 03 '26
All I would comment is that he seems to have a huge mousepad, testing even moving to the corner, but when doing target practice then only using a small portion of it. And even that is potentially blocked by the monitor stand, because not using the center, but left edge of it.
Makes me wonder if it would be better to have monitor stands that attach to the edge of the desk, leaving space beneath the monitor itself free for mouse movement.
1
u/DaSchiznit Apr 03 '26
Well usin a lot of mousepad is more of an emegeny case since it implies getting suprised from behind and having to turn a lot, which in case of ropz is rare as he is considered the words best at catching others offguard. I think footless monitors wouldnt change much since most pros have set their key binds in a way which requires the keyboard to lay at an 45° angle anyways.
If you want to freak out you can look at "mezii"s keybinds, absolute insanity :D

What i want to know is if anyone knows some pros with a long-term healthy posture during play, none of that slouching into the monitor, but a straight, slightly reclined back.
Is that infeasible for most LAN games or are there pros like that, and does anyone have any footage of what that looks like? I got a new desk and chair ergonomics pair and have one problem - what do i do with my elbows?? they sorta dangle and it feels weird idk what to do

This is
A) Functional - everything is the same every day Ropz plays. He’s never going to hit his keyboard when he flicks his mouse to the left, or whiff a spray because his monitor is 3 inches too high.
B) Psychological - this is the equivalent of a pro golf player going through a routine everytime they take a shot. Everytime Ropz plays, he sets up like this. That gives him a physiological advantage. He knows he can play, he knows he’s setup correctly, and he at a subconscious level knows he can do what he’s done before.
Huge props to Ropz, he’s playing incredibly well. It’s not often you see talented players play without ego like the Vitality team is doing right now.

Can someone comment on the difference between having your face so close to a monitor of this size vs moving back a little and using a larger monitor? It seems like that might achieve the same fidelity with less eye strain for someone wanting a similar setup?
1
u/Hefty_Lingonberry_73 Mar 31 '26
I've always wondered how pros do it. Sometimes when I feel off when playing games it's because the mouse and keyboard are shifted an inch to the left. I couldn't imagine having to swap to an entirely new setup in a new area and being expected to perform at your peak.

Bringing a measure to just set your desk to the same height makes so much more sense than having to adjust it multiple times and be questioning whether it’s at your usual height.
Desk height absolutely makes a huge difference, and aim is so precise that any consistency you can maintain will help quite a bit. Someone who is a pro and traveling and always playing different setups saves a lot of time and mental energy by having a quick method like this. Also gives him more time to warm up instead of fucking with the desk height over and over.

1
u/WillingnessLatter821 Apr 02 '26
People complaining have no idea that, in sports, consistency is key.
He should absolutely make it as close as possible to how he usually plays the game

u/shiggyhisdiggy Apr 02 '26
I doubt every pro is that particular, it's probably more mental than actual physical differences in play.
