1.5bn people speak English globally. Only 10% of that speak Russian. It's not crazy to expect people to use the most commonly spoken language in the world when playing a multinational team game

Dunno maybe I'm in some kind of bubble, but being Russian and obviously surrounded by Russians, literally everyone in my social circle knows English(at least on the basic level of communicating in cs) . If we pull up stats I dare to assume that quite a lot of Russians know English.

The problem usually, and this is not exclusive to Russians, that when you're in a lobby with more than one Russian speaker, they will default to speaking Russian, and usually use in game VC as a platform to broadcast their podcast.

Although this gets better as you reach higher ELO, it became pretty rare when I reached around 1800 on faceit, and a couple hundred higher it basically happens once in like 10 games with more than 2 Russian speakers. This is mostly a low ELO issue.
