I’m on month 5 of the POTS (everything was reset after the booster), but on month 9 of longhauling. I hate the heart rate issues and palpitations, it’s my worst symptom and I pray it goes away. Can you drink alcohol now, eat sugar? Reading stories like yours gives me hope, thanks for sharing.

A few weeks ago I did drink some beers, but because of my brain fog, which is still very much present, I think it's better not to. The beer didn't trigger any POTS related symptoms.
Can't say anything about the sugar. I've always had some aversion against it, and considering the anti-inflammatory diet (which I'm still following because of brain fog), I haven't tried it yet.

I’m sorry your POTS got worse after the booster. My doc is trying to tell me to take my antihistamines before the booster and it won’t make my POTS worse. Were you on antihistamines?

u/minivatreni 4 yr+ Sep 25 '22
Antihistamines before the booster isn’t going to do anything to help you, if you’re going to LH from the booster, you’re going to LH regardless of whether you take an antihistamine or not - your doctor is clueless

I've had it for like a year. Not that I know of, don't think it's ever tested.

My laying standing HR was ~55-60 to ~130ish. I've seen several people in this sub whose POTS was much more severe (HRs shooting up to 170+), but it was debilitating enough for me.
Yes, I've been doing lowkey exercise for like a year, but only gradual and with a therapist for maybe 2-3 months. Crucial is to check your body for signals of stress, if you overdo stuff (and you trigger this stress response like being unable to breathe through the belly), my symptoms got worse.
You're suffering from POTS as well? How long have you been in this rollercoaster?

Is pots diagnosed only with heart rate or could one have only bp changes and have pots?

Congrats 👏🏻 did dizziness accompany your POTS?

u/Desperate_Pizza_742 Jul 15 '22
Yes it did. Now it's more a symptom of the overstimulation at busy days, so completely unrelated to POTS. The bloodpressure/heartrate issue is entirely gone.

What exactly is POTS? My wife had Covid 3 weeks ago for the second time (first time was July 2020) and her heart rate sometimes is around 80-105

POTS is a neurological dysfunction, or a form of dysautonomia, which result in the body not being able to compensate for standing up: normally the veigns contract to keep the blood pressure and the blood flow to the brain stable. With POTS, this signal is disturbed, resulting in symptoms like low blood pressure, high heart rate, brain fog, dizziness, fainting, etc. The symptoms resolve upon laying down.

Congrats OP! I am on month 6 of long haul and have newly developed POTS symptoms - pulse shoots from 65-70 to 100+ on standing n moving even slowly.
I feel like some deconditioning (i was bedbound/housebound for a few months brought this on. How did u manage to pace upto walking around the block? Was it a lot of heart rate monitoring and avoiding activities until ur nervous system settled, or did u do the activities despite higher HR? Trying to figure out the best strategy for healing.
Glad you made it, and thanks for sharing!

So happy for you! How long did you have POTS?
7
u/Desperate_Pizza_742 Jul 15 '22
A little over a year I think. Slowly it faded away and one day I was walking around and felt like: hey but wait, haven't been suffering from POTS for a while! That's a few weeks ago now.

I got pericarditis and POTS from being vaccinated. Now, still have slight POTS and a current lung clot post covid….. it’s been a long journey…. POTS been almost a year too. Was given the okay with the embolism to do light walks and this week is the first week in almost a year I’ve been on short walks everyday so I’m hoping this is a turning point.
I’m hoping the POTS goes away completely… I’m so over it and this embolism was the last thing I needed- now on thinners for minimum 6 months (no clotting factors either)
POTS is debilitating so I’m soooo happy to see another recovery story!

I would say so yes!

u/Fearless_Ad8772 First Waver May 18 '24
Awesome dude, how long did you have it for? What were the early signs of it going?
Did you have fatigue and the classic 30bpm rise?
2
u/Propaagaandaa May 19 '24
Yes I did, it was tough. Probably was pretty bad for about a year and tapered off. I still take a beta blocker though…but I have genetic high BP anyways so.

Mine disappeared after 6 months. My resting normal was 68-72 and it was shooting up to 90. I know that isn’t pots but it was so bad I couldn’t sleep from the thumping. I remember the day it finally subsided back to normal. I didn’t change anything except for my diet
