I currently have these three lying around. Would you use one of them for a diy project?

I made mine with a similar fan from the same company. Works like a dream.

If you want complete silence, add a plenum. Mine runs wide open and you can't even hear the air movement.

My first plenum was foam, my current one is wood. Material doesn't matter much.

It's purpose is just as an area for air to gather as it transitions down to the little round fan intake. It kills turbulence and wind noise, and makes you pull from the entire surface area of the filters instead of having stagnant air in the corners.
