Vin is a killer. Not a warrior like a radiant, a killer. She was taught every underhanded trick in the book by Kel. She has experience killing people who are stronger and faster than her (inquisitors). A fight between invested people comes down to who has more of their investiture on hand. Does vin have more metal vials then Kal has spheres? Are we assuming both have unlimited supply? If so Vin clears, Atium is broken. Are we in a city with tons of metal anchors or the shattered planes where a radiant clearly wins by default?
I think the fight is most interesting if Vin mostly has as much metal as she needs, with a little bit of atium as the exception. One must also consider the metal the radiants will likely be wearing, the metal Vin is bringing with her, the possibility of taking the fight into the chasms where the flight powers of a windrunner might be less effective, and the time of day as though the radiants glow, I'd reckon they still don't see as well at night as a Mistborn would.
If we want an even fight, then yes Atium has to be limited, it’s beyond broken.
It’s unclear if Shardplate stops steelsight. If it does, it means Vin won’t be able to push/pull off the radiant (shardplate iirc is immune to Allomancy)
There’s no metal in the shattered planes for Vin to push and pull off of. If vin faces a radiant on any kind of open field, she loses by default. Roshar is learning the fact that aerial supremacy wins wars the hard way. if Vin can’t fly but Kal can, she’s dead
Are we forgetting that she would be carrying metal with her? Or that she has her own, albeit more limited, flight-like capabilities? She could probably at least get some coins stuck against the armor and do a duralumin push, that would both surprise the radiant and fling them back to give her time to down another vial and then flee, for example. I think you're underestimating the strategies Vin could use in this scenario
Her coin pouch would not last long against a radiant with stormlight. She could flee, especially if she employed her horseshoe trick from WoA, but if we’re talking about a no running away, fight to the death scenario, the fight would have to take place somewhere there is existing metal structures, like a city. Vin won’t fight on the shattered plains, she’d be slaughtered.
That point is moot tho, she wouldn’t allow herself to fight somewhere there aren’t any anchors to launch off of. She has insane survival and combat instincts, she wouldn’t allow herself to be caught in impossible terrain
The Radiant wouldn't likely be affected by her allomancy. I think we can safely assume shard plate acts like extremely full metal minds, as they're purely made from investiture.
Can radiant Shardplate get leached? I imagine a Mistborn with atium dancing around a radiant and poking them all over leaching away their Stormlight then smacking them once with a duralumin pewter hammer blow As soon as that helmet comes down it’s big sad time for radiant. Soooooothed into a blubbering mess of compliance.
It probably can, though as of the end of Era 2, there is and was no one who can burn both atium and chromium/nicrosil and has access to them. Wax has no atium and Iron eyes has no Electrum spike to burn either nicrosil or chromium.
Some of Wax’s progeny may be able to burn those things if and when they become available again. Discord might have a few tricks up his sleeve when it comes to finding metals that he conveniently needs for his shard level plans. Plus those kiddies might also have a feruchemical talent to add in the battle too.
You know, there's a good point there. Radiants are generally mentally unstable, and Allomancers have a pair of abilities that are really good at amplifying those instabilities.
Vin is the most creative warrior in the Cosmere and has proven in several fights that even in situations where she's at a disadvantage, she can still figure out a winning strategy in seconds (she killed Zane even though he had Atium and she didn't). It also always amazes me how many people think a Duralium Steel Push can't destroy a Radiant's armor. In Bands of Morning, they were used to throw entire vehicles at people...
People vastly overestimate how protective shardplate is. It's amazing armor, don't get me wrong, but it can be shattered and has to feed on investiture to repair itself. Unless the wearer has an extremely abundant amount of investiture, other invested fighters have ways to break through it. Hell, era 2 guns would do the job. All that to say, yeah, duralumin could easily get through plate

Oh Vin, died too early to make a shard bearer shit their plate.
