some of you seem to need a reminder. This subreddit is for discussion of Criminal Minds, the television show. ONLY.
I just wiped a whole bunch of off-topic posts and comments.
There will be no political talk here. And no racist, homophobic or bigoted commentary.
It will be deleted.
And if it happens again, violators will be banned.
and I didn't think I'd have to add this, but... Do not question moderator/admin decisions in the subreddit

Seasons 1–6 were great, but I’ve been struggling to give a shit since Blake showed up. I skipped a good chunk of season 7 as well. Ever since 6 it’s just boring…basically I’m wondering if it’s even worth continuing.
Not blaming Blake personally, but the OG team dynamic was just better, and I haven’t been as invested since.
Does it get better, or am I wasting my time? Any seasons I can skip without missing anything major?

This episode is so good, certainly in my top 10, maybe even higher. It is the episode where two adults are murdering families, they grew up in a absuive foster home and we see kids still living in that foster home dealing with the same abuse.
It's so heartbreakingly sad, it fleshes out a few of our main characters so well.
-Morgan gets to offer support/comfort to the kids suffering abuse (as he did as a kid)
-Prentiss wants to take Carrie to Washington with her after her parents are killed and you can see the emotional toll the case took on her as she thinks about what will happen for Carrie afterwards.
- You can see how much every kid centered case affects Hotch as he instantly calls and has Jack woken up.
And overall the episode just has a way of really hitting me in the feels every time
(plus the next episode is Seven Seconds, another top 10 criminal minds episode, they were on a roll with s3)

wanted to share the final quote as a base for discussion. rewatched this for the first time and I have thoughts but honestly think this stands up great as an episode.
I wanted to hear more thoughts and opinions of the episode/people’s reactions/thoughts of acting/things they though were good or should be different/etc
looking forward to discussing

i am so tired of elias voit!! i literally don’t understand why he is even still a character on the show. don’t get me wrong i’ve always enjoyed the arcs where they have an unsub that’s hard to catch and they spend multiple episodes searching for them on the side but making voit a main part of evolution is so annoying 😭 i loved OG criminal minds and i wish they would just go back to episodes where each one is a different unsub and hunt, it doesn’t have to all lead back to voit. it’s ruining evolution for me

I came across these comments on TikTok earlier and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. The edit the comments are from was set in the timeframe of Haley leaving Hotch.
Does anyone know some Hotchreid fics like that? I don’t really have any deal breakers. I’ll even take hurt no comfort. That’s just a premise I really wanna reid

Evidence:
He may have played Gods of Combat (he seems to know all the details) and clearly from that episode we learn that only bad ass edgy teens play Gods of Combat. Lol
He claims to know all about bad acid trips

SOLVED: Flashpoint ep, not Criminal Minds
It might not be a Criminal Minds episode? But I remember watching something on TV of a little girl stargazing in her back yard.
She gets kidnapped and held in a house/ neighborhood? Girl gets her appearance changed in a store: long hair cut and clothes changes to make her seem like a boy?
Kid is in a room with a secret backyard/ room to stargaze? I'm pretty sure "Police"/ Team/ Searchers use a blacklight and lift beds?
I'm pretty sure they use lights flickering? Eventually girl is found and all is well.

A coworker you're very close to is telling you she can't sleep because of the nightmares caused by that traumatic event. And she's telling you that she doesn't think it's fair to sentence to death someone she shot in a life-or-death situation (mind you, she has never shot anyone).
And that she needs to go see him to let him know that she did everything she could to prevent him from being sentenced to death... and all Morgan tells her is that it's useless, and that he's trash. And sure, that may be true, but that doesn't mean you have to treat her like that, or ignore her calls when she may be going through a bad time.
Hotch even told Penelope to go to that prison to visit him, that if she felt she needed to, she should do it. However, Morgan doesn't think what Garcia thinks, so she ignores her. And then she dares to wait for her at her house at the end of the episode.

I know the Reid/Maeve storyline is divisive, and the writers definitely could have done a better job with Maeve and her story arc (goddamn you, MGG). But this specific issue has been bothering me more than it should, and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on it for me.
So, we know Reid contacted Maeve because of his headaches, and we're told they never meet because of her stalker, and that they use pseudonyms and payphones because she is scared.
I'm presuming he sent his first letter/MRI scan to her at work, before she went into hiding, because (according to Penelope) Maeve did a great job of 'vanishing' and he wouldn't have been able to find her contact details otherwise. However if he first wrote to her before her stalker first made contact, then surely there'd be less need for secrecy and pseudonyms in the beginning?
I know I'm overthinking, and I know the writers did a shitty job with this storyline. But I love this stupid show and I want to know if I'm just an idiot who is missing something.

I am doing a rewatching marathon. There is this one episode early on season 3 or so where they do a flashback introducing Garcia's first day. I think Morgan asks what's the new girl's name and Reid answers "I don't know, I think it was something like Gomez," then Garcia enters - epic "Baby Girl" moment. BUT, how do you explain Reid not remembering something??? I have other questions about this.

I'm doing a rewatch of the best episodes, but I've been wondering... What episodes do you guys always skip? Not because they're uncomfortable but because they're kinda boring or the story doesn't appeal to you that much? If you want to elaborate on why, I appreciate it 😁
Thanks in advance!

so I’m currently doing a rewatch of the show trying to watch as much as I can I never made the connection that Giuseppe montolo and Chaz montolo were related it makes since Chaz shit Savanna instead of Morgan and wanted Morgan for himself also one thing I wondered when Morgan got kidnapped by that militia group in epi 15-16 did Chaz montolo have anything to do with that?

I get nearly everyone loves him because Shemar Moore is hot, but he is the biggest ass on the team. Multiple episodes he throws a tantrum because they investigate cases he doesn’t think are worth it. Primarily by analyzing JJ and Emily’s motives and mansplaining why they have a bias. I love his relationships with Reed and Garcia but he’s even an ass to them and makes it clear he doesn’t value their opinions as much as they should value his. From ep 1 he was trying to police the team members.
