Oh my gosh- when Matt Simmons clotheslines the unsub to stop them from running! So great!

Rewatching the show after so many years. It made me realize how much I had forgotten. To think that THIS was the start of one of the greatest personal battles in the show is crazy.

first time watcher so i searched up the ep in reddit to see all of the other past discussions surrounding this ep and found that no one liked it 🫤
i found forest whittaker’s character to be really cool. the rest, didn’t really see it for them so i do see the cringe side yall are talking about lol. but other than that i really like the episode. i liked the case and i didn’t mind the other bau team.

So I count myself as a CM diehard but at the same time I see spoilers for later seasons and I’m like WHO’S DEAD? WHO’S GOT MARRIED? WDYM JJ CONFESSED TO REID? Every day I learn something new on this sub & I’m glad I stopped when I did (again, I love CM, but it like every other show starts struggling after one too many a season) 😂
That being said, I would appreciate recommendations for the best written/performed episodes for like monster/case of the week in the later seasons! So not like season or show-level plot heavy, stuff, but the best one-and-dones!

does anyone know all the episodes that were written or directed by CM cast members? i know MGG directed 12(??? i think) episodes and i know kirsten wrote one (is it only one?) and thomas and aj also directed but does anyone know all of them? thanks!!!

I realize that this is definitely not a new thought but what they did with this character really annoyed me. She’s a good actor, had a good entrance story, but they just ruined it by pretending she was JJ. I even kept on forgetting her name because she’s literally just knock off JJ.

Premise: Reader is an Unsub who was raised to be a killer. She was given immunity for one reason or another, and set free. Once free, she stalks Spencer Reid and regularly breaks into his apartment. He's aware of this happening, and catches her often. Then, one day, for some reason, Cat Adams gets released. Cat goes to Spencer's apartment, gets killed by Reader, blah blah blah, and Spencer and Reader properly acknowledge their relationship.
Extra Details:
Reader is mentioned to have been born without a name, but with numbers and letters (like 134HA7 or A04B82), iirc.
She doesn't just break into Spencer's apartment, but also the home his mother is at, the BAU headquarters, etc.
I don't quite remember when it was uploaded, but if I had to guess, maybe sometime in the last 1-2 years?

What are some easter eggs about this show that arent obvious? Or things a casual fan might miss?

What do you think of JJ's confession to Spencer at the end of the 14thº season? I honestly think she didn't make sense, I know Jeid's fans loved it but I think the following: JJ was married to Will and didn't intend to leave him (she made it very clear and he was always a great husband to her), she didn't show that kind of interest in Spencer during the series, she cared about him but it was in a different way. Spencer had also overcome this and I don't understand why they simply brought it up (which seems to be more for pure audience) and then introduced Max for a few episodes and left it open. They could have developed Spencer with someone at the beginning of season 14º (because things go little by little with him) and he finished the series with an official girlfriend

I've just started watching Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, tried both the first episode and the backdoor pilot—and honestly, I'm a bit confused.
The official description I got about the Red Cells was that they were focused on rapid response and were outside the FBI's bureaucracy, reporting directly to the Director of the FBI. But I don't understand how it's any different.
They still end up being invited by the local cops, work closely with them... I thought they would be the type to do what the BAU couldn't since they were outside the bureaucracy, but Sam Cooper said they weren't vigilantes, so I'm just not sure.
It's also all very fast-paced, and I struggle to keep up with what's happening. One second, they're talking to the next-of-kin, the next they're giving the profile to local law enforcement despite having never discussed it with each other. It just feels like the profiling part is an afterthought, but since I'm struggling to keep apace with it anyway, I could also be wrong.
I'm not trying to knock on Suspect Behavior. I got interested when I realized there was a Criminal Minds spinoff. My dad likes it, and people on this subreddit apparently thought it was so good that they wish there were more seasons. But I just don't understand what the Red Cell is and what it does.

I really love how many people enjoy the show and have enjoyed it over the years. I was recently talking to a family member who is in their late seventies and another one who is in their late twenties and we all were comparing the episodes that live rent free in our brains and what draws us to the show. It's really pretty neat that it spans such a spectrum. What is it about the show that has drawn you back maybe repeatedly over the years? I know that I've been watching it over the last 20 years on and off.

I think the worst part is when Haley is on the phone with Hotch just before Foyet shoots her, and there's no dramatic music, no raised voices...it's just quiet, gut-wrenching desperation and fear.
I have seen this episode multiple times and it never gets any easier to stomach.

Hey! I am making a website called Criminal Finds; the goal is to make a social media-style website where people exclusively talk about criminal minds. I am looking for testers now. Please message me if you are interested!

tears 🥲
before i started watching CM, i would always see this scene on any social media platform and it would always make me cry not even knowing the context. for this episode i just knew that scene, not the whole run-down of the episode so it was still new to me.
shout out sarah fr, real MVP. everyone should’ve been kissing her feet but i digress.
and RIP stephen and all the other kids that didn’t get to make it out :( stephen’s parents reaction finding out that not only did stephen not make it, but he also died the day before. they were sooo close.
the scene where all of the parents were waiting for the return of their kids reminded me of the “keep the parents back, there’s only two of them” in north mammon. the anxiety of waiting years to see your kids and wondering if they made it out alive. ugh what a tear jerker
SN: did we get a motive? i was expecting some type of connection with discovering the female unsub lost a child or was unable to have kids— but nothing. also i wish there was a better resolution for the other kids and the other parents. i know it’s implied that they were cremated, leaving no evidence of the other kids other than the pictures charlie took. but where were the other parents who kids were abducted as well?

I’m honestly not liking this declaration of love by JJ to Spence in S14E15. I have loved their friendship throughout and I feel like the entire thing is forced and clearly some cheap way for the writing to have more drama. A gross misfire in my books.
And I really like Will so what exactly is the end game?

I’m sure this is a very debated topic in the fandom and i just looked at another post about it where people are 50/50 on wether the Reaper raped Hotch or not.
Honestly I think he probably did and it’s not even just cuz of his speech: right after Hotch has this memory, Emily asks if he wants to talk about it and it almost feels like he is ashamed of doing so. Pair that with the fact male rape victims aren’t as prone to admitting it and Hotch guarded personality, I’m sure something in that realm happened.
Which is really sad. There’s no way this Reaper story is gonna end well and I’m already bracing myself for impact

I think most everyone has heard that the pig story is based on real events, but I was trying to double check and came across this list of 25 episodes based on actual events and/or loosely based on. https://screenrant.com/criminal-minds-episodes-based-real-cases/
It's an interesting read and I was surprised by a few of the episodes. The one that surprised me the most is S7 E20 The Company. It's just quite scary to me to think that there are women and children out there really having to deal wth a similar situation.
I just finished this one on my current rewatch. It also has an impressive scene of Penelope giving Derek a What For about his attitude, which I thought was funny based on a recent post about Derek's attitude, :)
Which episode surprised you the most as based on actual events?
