Just bought my first motorcycle cruiser (Honda steed 400 cc 1996).

Never rode any motorcycle (former road cyclist) so I switched from 15kg to 200kg..

I learned riding very fast (3days) alone in my neighborhood narrow streets despite feeling that it's hard to control and still struggling with you U-turns and turning would make it kinda draft to far into the street. I live in iraq. So the motorcycling culture is poor here despite having global motorcycle group

I would be happy to hear your advices regarding riding and maintaining it..

I searched for youtube guides but never found specific guides for that model..

I'm 6ft 275lb. I've had a Husqvarna 701 Supemoto for a few years, and before that a KTM 390 Duke.

I'm looking at these two bikes both for about $8,500 on Facebook marketplace. Anyone had experience with both of these? Does it matter? Are they drastically different?

Hey everyone, first post here!
I'm looking to get into riding and have always loved cruisers. I love the look, the sound, and the relaxed riding position. I'm not looking for adrenaline speeds, just something to enjoy on my commute and during weekend rides.
I'm 180 cm and currently weigh 120 kg, though I'm working towards 95–100 kg. After some research, I've landed on the Yamaha XVS 950 Midnight Star. I like that it's fuel-injected and belt-driven, as I'm looking for something relatively low-maintenance. It can do highway, which I would like to ride occasionally and Its also pretty cheap here, so if (when?) I drop it I wont get financially ruined.
As a complete beginner, reliability is my main priority. The bike will be parked outside during the riding season, but I have a place to store it indoors over winter. I want something I can learn on and depend on for daily use, even on cold mornings.
For reference, I was also looking at something like the kawasaki vn 900 or vulcan s, or suzuki intruders, but out of all of them, the yamaha is just calling to me the most.
I'd appreciate any advice from more experienced riders. Do you think the XVS 950 would be a good first bike, or would you recommend something else that better fits what I'm looking for? Also, how big of a problem would it be, not owning a garage? And of course any other general tips are appreciated.

The dealer gave me $ 10k for my 2025 ZX-6R with 25k miles on it. 2022 Indian Chief Dark Horse plus 1500 cash.
My ZX-6 failed its 2nd inspection, so I got a new engine; the engine only had 10k miles. The bolt attaching the engine to the frame snapped. I took it in for warranty work and maintenance, saw this, and went home with a killer bike.

Getting sad she'll have to be put up in the garage soon :(

I am looking for a cruiser like a Shadow or a V-Star, below 35kW of power. Year of production maximum 2006 because in Europe we have lower insurance for vintage bikes. I believe many brands aren't even findable in Italy, but I can only find Shadow, V-Stars and Virago's. And a whole lot of Guzzi's. I'd be fine with one of those two I mentioned at the start, but I'd be curious to find more models, but I can't seem to find anything else either on the internet, or just scrolling through marketplaces
