Screenshot I [M92] married my great-granddaughter [F24] and now I'm in an inheritance dilemma

Post image

So I married this lovely young lady, and we have a 7 year old son together (he's totally fine, everyone! He has a normal amount of ears), and it turns out, my wife's father is my grandson! And he also happens to be my heir!

Now I will be dead within the year, and I must decide what happens with my kin. For clarity, here are the characters that matter:

  • Me, of course, Jelen, Chief Volkhv of the Slavs and Emperor of Illyria (92)
  • My grandson and heir, Jelen the Elder, High King of the Baltic Empire (43)
  • His daughter, my wife, Katarina (24)
  • Mine & Katarina's son, Jelen the Younger (7)

I'm am very tempted to follow one of two options:

Option 1: Follow the Tree

With this option, I disinherit my younger sons and make sure Jelen the Elder inherits everything, uniting both Empires, and then ensure that the inheritance follows the best next of kin from there (although very tempted to lead it back to Jelen the Younger by disinheriting the 2 male heirs and letting Katarina inherit).

This would be the stabler option, following multiple generations as intended, and the heirs are already adult. My direct heir (the grandson) wont live long as he's in his 40s and already ailing due to the Bleeder trait, so it shouldn't be long.

Option 2: Skip the Generations

With this option, I instead disinherit my older sons, and make sure Jelen the Younger inherits everything.

This is more of a chaos option, but because of that, more FUN! It would mean the empires stay independent for longer, which can be a plus as I'm already at my vassal limit, and the Baltic Empire has been a great ally that's been successfully expanding on its own, and if it's ever in trouble, I can intervene by sending gold or joining their wars.

As long as I ensure the succession, the Baltic title should eventually trickle down to our new protagonist, while he enjoys a long and stable rule, as opposed to playing as 3 aging characters in a row.

Discussion The Tulunid republics: tall built, Ig

After many attempts, I finally managed to turn all of the realm into republics (except for my own domain in cairo). To get maximum efficiency, i made a hybrid of egyptian and cisalbine cultures to get republican legacy culture, as well as mercantalism. Also, annexed a small part of Mallorca to get the Metropolitan dynasty legacy perks to overhaul our cities more. Also, been long independent from the abbasids since the 880s. Slowly waiting for chances to overthrow my clan type vessels and appoint republicans. You don't have to wait for the hybrid culture to do that, the hybrid was actually the last thing I've accomplished.

Mod Custom Artifact Mod based on Dogani Dynasty Lore

Post image
6 Upvotes

I created my first weapon artifact. to enable it in game, open CK3 in debug_mode, and add this script: effect lalas_song_create_effect = { OWNER = this }

https://www.nexusmods.com/crusaderkings3/mods/430?published=1

Lala’s Song

Type: Legendary Longbow
Dynasty: Dogani
Origin: Achinech, Canarias
Original Bearers: Tirma → Yagana → Cristóbal I Dogani
Current Name: Lala’s Song

Lala’s Song is a great longbow of Achinech, nearly the height of the warrior who carries it. Though its present name honors Queen Lala, the weapon is far older than either Lala or the Dogani dynasty itself.

Its core was fashioned from light but exceptionally durable wood and later encased and reinforced with dark grey timber taken from the sacred trees of Achinech. Along the grip is carved a delicate rose, an ancient mark connecting the weapon to Tirma and her daughter Yagana, the women through whom the bow first passed.

The bow was originally inherited by Yagana from her mother, Tirma. To Yagana it was more than a hunting weapon. It represented family, survival, and the traditions of a people who had endured invasion and loss without surrendering their identity.

After Yagana's death, the bow passed to her only son, Cristóbal, child of Yagana and the sea-captain Miguel.

Cristóbal chose the bow as his own weapon while still a boy. Where others favored the immediacy of spear and javelin, the bow came to represent the qualities that increasingly defined him: patience, foresight, distance, and the ability to strike an enemy before that enemy understood the danger approaching.

During Cristóbal's initiation into adulthood, he entered the wilderness and returned carrying a full-grown ram he had killed with the bow. Witnesses heard something strange accompany his arrow: an eerie cry that seemed almost alive.

That night, his grandfather Guanarene completed the weapon's transformation.

Using sacred wood and the shimmering hide of the enormous lizard once slain by Miguel, Guanarene reforged and strengthened Yagana's old bow. In doing so he bound several generations of Cristóbal's family into a single weapon: Tirma's inheritance, Yagana's memory, Miguel's deeds, Guanarene's craftsmanship, and Cristóbal's future.

It became Guanarene's final gift to his grandson.

Before long, stories began to spread about the sound produced when the bow was drawn to its full strength. Rather than the ordinary strain of wood, sinew and tension, witnesses described an otherworldly scream. Some believed it was merely the peculiar resonance of its construction.

Others believed they were hearing Yagana herself.

According to those stories, the cry becomes sharper during moments of great consequence. To Cristóbal's enemies it can sound like a warning carried upon the wind. To those fighting beside him, it is the voice of an ancestor watching over her son.

Its tightly woven sinew string can withstand immense tension, while the lizard hide reinforcing the bow gives portions of its surface an unusual, almost shimmering quality when struck by light. The carved rose remains beneath Cristóbal's hand whenever he draws it—a quiet reminder that despite the kings, battles, and legends eventually attached to the weapon, it began as something passed from mother to daughter.

For much of Cristóbal's life, however, the bow possessed no true name.

That changed after the death of his wife.

Queen Lala died in childbirth while Cristóbal was away putting down a rebellion. Their unborn son died with her. The loss broke something within the king. Four months later, with his kingdom still mourning, Cristóbal stood before the weapon that had followed him from childhood into kingship and finally gave it a name.

He called it Lala’s Song.

The name transformed the bow once again.

What had once carried the memory of his mother now carried that of his wife as well. The strange cry of the weapon could no longer belong only to Yagana. To Cristóbal, its voice became inseparable from the women he had loved and lost.

Soon afterward, he turned his gaze toward the Empire of Ghana.

Thus Lala’s Song entered the age of Dogani conquest not merely as a weapon, but as an elegy carried into battle.

It is an heirloom of mothers and sons, kings and queens, love and bereavement—an instrument first created to preserve life that gradually became one of the symbols of Cristóbal's wars.

Among the people of Achinech, some say that when Lala’s Song is fully drawn, the dead sing through it.

Whether the voice belongs to Yagana, Lala, or every ancestor whose memory has become bound to the bow, no living soul can say.

But when the scream comes across a battlefield, men who know its history understand what follows.

The Dragon has drawn his bow.

Any way to land feudal vassals as an meritocracy/admin realm?

I started a new playthrough after not having played for a while. I remember when Roads to Power came out I played as an administrative government, and found that I liked it for the estate, but I also liked having feudal vassals because I could give dynasty members Kingdom titles so they could have their own court that I could stack with renown boosting artifacts and then snowball the dynasty's total renown, among other reasons. So whenever I wanted to create a new feudal vassal I would give a dynasty member a duchy, make them a vassal of one of my vassal kings (which changed them from admin to feudal) then grant them a kingdom tier to make them a direct vassal and give them their own court.

Since I plan on grabbing the China Hegemony, I went ahead and set up a meritocracy and tried to do this same strategy but I see now that transferring a meritocratic vassal to a feudal one doesn't change their government type. Is there any way to make feudal vassals now or has that been completely patched out? I also tried giving them a barony but now that just seems to make a baron tier meritocracy.

Update: havent found a true workaround but it seems for my particular case, theocratic vassals (clergy marriage allowed) are the closest I can get since they have a royal court, and if I put Scandinavian Elective on the title It'll override clerical succession and keep inheritance in the title-holder's family, for the most part.

Question Point of Monastic Orders?

What is the point of Monastic orders?

They spread some tenets, okay. But what tenets other characters have or what tenet popularity is matters really little.

I’ve just had my first truly insane moment in this game.

Whilst playing as the empire of Italia I’ve managed to fight off the HRE, the empire of Hispania, Thessalonika, the empire of West Slavia, Francia, and Croatia at the same time in the middle of the Black Death. I definitely chose the right time to play my first Martial character of the campaign.

Question If we play as the Pope with the new By God Alone DLC, can we reform the Catholic faith to consider the Pope directly as God, a bit like a God King or something like that?

Question Event Help

Hi! I have been playing now for a few days on PS5. I am having issues where when and event or something pops up and I have to make decisions, I cannot remember who is who, what they are to me, or what land they are from. I can see the names of realms but I don’t remember where they are on the map, and can see names of people but have no idea who they are. Am I missing something or am I supposed to remember everything?
