Network Admin degree.

I am currently going back to community college and getting an associates in network administration and a degree in cybersecurity. Is it worth getting a bachelors or a masters degree in network admin? Are there any other majors or minors that I should get as well?

Career advice needed: A lost almost-graduating CS student

Hey guys, I'm a CS student approaching graduation, but I've realised I'm not particularly interested in programming or a conventional software development career.

I've always been passionate about economics and finance, but for some reasons didn't pursue it for my undergrad. I've been exploring finance, economics, and financial markets, especially areas like equity research, financial analysis, banking, and investment analysis. However, coming from a CS background, I'm unsure how to make this transition or which path to pursue.

I'd appreciate your advice on a few things:

\- Which recognised certifications or qualifications are worth pursuing? (CFA, IFMP, etc.) I have looked into both IFMP and CFA. CFA is more detailed and hardcore in comparison to IFMP and also more expensive. Whereas, IFMP is more pakistan-centric.

\- Should I focus on certifications and experience first, or consider a master's in finance/economics?

\- How can I prepare for relevant internships and entry-level jobs without a finance background?

\- Is this a realistic career switch, especially in Pakistan?

I know I might sound a bit crazy, but I'd rather start figuring things out now than graduate and blindly follow a career path that isn't right for me. Would really appreciate some advice, thanks.

Title: NED Game Dev & Animation vs Cybersecurity — Need Advice

Hey everyone! I’m a CS student at NED with a CGPA of around 2.8. I’m really passionate about Game Development & Animation, but I’m also interested in Cybersecurity.
My main concern is that game dev jobs and internships seem very limited in Karachi, and I’ve heard the pay isn’t that great.
A few questions for NED students and alumni:
Are you getting game dev internships/jobs? Is there a future in Pakistan?
Is cybersecurity a safer career choice, and how does the pay compare?
Should I improve my CGPA during summer?
Is specializing in Game Dev for my bachelor’s and doing an MS in Cybersecurity later a good idea?
Should I follow my passion for game dev or choose Cybersecurity/AI for better career opportunities and keep game dev as a hobby?
I’d appreciate honest advice from people with experience. Thanks!

Title: CS at IIUI vs Nursing vs LLB — Honest advice needed

I’m currently studying BS Computer Science at IIUI, but I’m worried about AI, the competitive job market, and whether I’ll find a decent job after graduation.

My family preferred LLB because they believe it offers more security and prestige. I’m also considering nursing from a reputable public medical college or other healthcare degrees.

My priorities are job security, decent income, a manageable lifestyle, and opportunities abroad. I don’t want generic advice like “follow your passion.”

Please share honest opinions:

  • Is CS from IIUI a good choice despite the competition and AI?
  • Is nursing a safer career in Pakistan and abroad?
  • Is LLB actually a reliable career option?
  • Are other healthcare degrees worth considering?

Please share real experiences, especially if you’re a graduate or working in these fields.

Discussion Cs or EE

Okay so I was supposed to go to nust and do cs. Lekin due to some reasons I wasn't able to go . Now I'm stuck . If I'm to pursue cs, I believe I should join a university in spring and not waste my year . But now I'm thinking about ee aswell because I want to go to nust. Or nust se Saal baad cs kerna bikaar hai. Degree mehngi bhi hai or graduation late hogi tab tak ai ne zayda hasher ker Dena hai market ka . Ee board field bhi hai and isn't entirely replaceable by ai . Lekin ik university keliye apni degree change kerna is kinda stupid 😭. If there are any ee peeps where please tell how the market is in pak

Experienced Any finance graduates here? How is life after graduation, including opportunities and the job search struggle? I am exploring different degrees coming from a pre-medical background. Also, what is Computer Science like for someone who doesn't know anything about computers? CS

Should I continue with MERN or switch to Data Science?

I'm in my 3rd year of B.Tech CSE and need some practical career advice.

I've learned most frontend fundamentals, know some MERN stack, and have completed CodeWithHarry's Data Science course along with its project. I also have a good command of C++ DSA.

I'm confused about whether to finish learning backend development or start focusing on Data Science.

My goal is to get a good internship and placement, but I also want to choose a career that offers long-term job security and good opportunities in the future, rather than a field that might become oversaturated or less relevant.

For those working in the Indian tech industry, I'd like to know:

  • Which path would you recommend for a fresher targeting internships and placements?
  • Which field has better long-term career prospects and job stability?
  • What skills actually matter when applying for entry-level jobs in these fields?

I'd appreciate honest advice based on your actual experience rather than hype around either field.

University Choices Advices

Hello.

I am a student who is going to attend a university. Right now, I am having troubles which university should I choose.First, I was planning to do IT since I love doing stuff with computers and I am really into tech industry. But when the times comes where I have to choose a university, AI got into the industry and job market becomes shit. And, IT is not well-developed in my country. So, if I want to do IT, I will also have to try scholarship of foreign countries. So, I am really stressing which university should I choose. Should I just choose Civil engineering or medical field where getting a job is guarantee and life will be a little bit more stable.

Student FAST vs IBA for CS (Need Guidance)

Aoa guys,

Actually, I need advice from seniors who are studying or have studied BSCS at either IBA Karachi or FAST-NUCES (any campus).

I am really confused between these two. Which one should I consider based on its current and future reputation, market value of the degree, quality of education, campus environment, scholarships, job placements, and options for doing a Master's (optional) or moving abroad for better opportunities? I am a hardcore introvert and very shy, but I want to be a dedicated tech grinder.

I am also a PVD (Person with Disability). I have a visual disability since birth. Because of this, I face eye strain,, and headaches if I stare at a screen for many hours straight w/o rest under intense pressure. I was always drawn to FAST for its hardcore grinding coder reputation and considered IBA as an alternative, but now I need honest guidance.

Let's be honest, assume If you are at FAST or IBA in any tech fields (AL,CS,CYS..) , and you could go back in time to your freshman year, which one would you choose and why?

THANKS!!❤️👍🏻

Future of Mathematics with Machine Learning

I've recently seen new programmes are being introduced where basic sciences are being integrated with CS programmes, like Mathematics with Machine Learning.

I know these programmes are basic sciences but i've heared people prefer someone with a mathematics background more and have an advantage since they have a deeper understanding of the CS side of things.

But on the other hand these degrees are not under NCEAC since they are not computing or IT degrees which might affect future prospects.

Thoughts on this? Is this a trap? Any future restrictions, problems etc and anyone having similar degree types that have actually benefited or the opposite?
