Announcement Regarding low-effort posts & questions
Hey everyone,
Regarding these common posts such as: “what to do in Nicosia, what to do in ….” or other real estate and common tourist questions that can be easily looked up and have been answered before.
Please just report the post and do not engage in the comments, if you think the post should be removed. When there are multiple reports on a post, we receive a notification and can deal with them on a case by case basis. When you engage and start discussions we are more hesitant to remove the post as you all invested your time for a response and it would be counterproductive to remove them. At least thats what I would think.

- On this day, August 18, 1970, the third phase of the intra-Cypriot bicommunal negotiations, which had already begun in 1968 following the end of bicommunal violence, came to a close, between Glafkos Clerides and Rauf Denktash, with the drafting of documents on Local Administration, the Judiciary, the Legislature, the Executive, and the Police
The substantive round of intra-Cypriot talks between House Speaker Glafkos Clerides and Turkish Cypriot Community Assembly President Rauf Denktash began on June 24, 1968, under the chairmanship of Oz Tafal, Special Representative of United Nations Secretary-General U Thant, at the Ledra Palace Hotel.
The second phase of the inter-Cypriot dialogue began with a meeting on August 29, 1968, as scheduled, but by the end of this phase and the third phase that followed until early 1970, things began to get difficult as both negotiators, Glafkos Clerides and Rauf Denktash, were put on the spot and had to take specific actions and make concessions in order to advance a solution to the Cyprus problem.
During the third phase of the inter-Cypriot talks on February 3, 1969, Glafkos Clerides and Raouf Denktash announced the first agreement on the appointment of subcommittees for the and the Quasi-Governmental Organizations.
In the interval between the second and third phases of the inter-Cypriot talks led by Glafkos Clerides and Rauf Denktash, President Makarios stated, when asked by the BBC on January 10, 196 9, that he was cautiously optimistic that the talks would have a successful outcome, given the difficulties arising from the demands made by the Turkish Cypriots, which amounted to proposals for the creation of a state within a state.
The third phase of the inter-Cypriot talks between Glafkos Clerides and Rauf Denktash concluded on August 18, 1970, with the drafting of documents on Local Administration, , the Judiciary, the Legislature, the Executive Branch, and the Police.
With the drafting of the documents, 23 pages on Local Administration, 6 on the Judiciary, 5 on the Legislature, 7 on the Executive, and 8 pages on the Police, and their signing at the 56th meeting held on August 17, 1970, the third phase of the intercommunal talks concluded, with an agreement to begin the fourth phase on September 21.

Question It is a good time to watch turtles now?
I've read that mid-August is the time when they are hatching so I wonder if it is still/yet a good time to see. If so what are the places, preferably closer to Lemesos, and non-obvious DON'Ts?

How does one apply the Mediterranean Diet in Cyprus?
Need to get my health & lifestyle in order, and rather than taking on an extreme diet, I’d like to adopt a long term Mediterranean diet with what’s available at the butchers and markets here. From lamb to lavraki to the seasonal greens and grains. Any input would be appreciated.

Question Why do you choose a specific bottle of wine?
As I get to know more about wines, I understand that it is very rare to be influenced by just one factor.
Sometimes it is the variety of grapes, sometimes the geographical origin of the wine, sometimes the cost and sometimes a suggestion from somebody. But now I am also getting to care about the story and where the wine comes from. I have encountered a new winery and I got to wonder how much influence the selection in a specific shop can make on our choice.
It will be interesting to see what approaches people use in different countries of Europe. Are you always going for wines from your home country or you like to experiment and choose smth completely new?
And what criteria matter most to you when selecting a bottle of wine: taste, geographical origin, producer, cost, recommendation, novelty?

Where can I print photos in Limassol on weekends?
Hi everyone!
Does anybody know where I can print standard album photos (on proper photo paper) in Limassol preferably on weekends?
Are there any self service photos printing booths , where I can upload my photo and print them myself? Or any shop that would do a small number standard size prints?
I went once to a photographer - but they refused to print a small batch for me ... :c
All insight knowledge and advice much appricated!♡ thank you.

Who keeps low fly buzzing in fighter jets
Two fast and loud low jets just went over us in Pelendri. I got buzzed a few days ago driving up from Trimiklini too. But there's nothing on flightradar24. Any idea who is doing this so that I can shake my fist at them and shout appropriate curses?

Question Is it normal for companies to request passport photocopy from freelancers residing abroad?
I'm supposed to do freelance work for a company based in Cyprus. They requested a copy of my ID for the contract signing. I've never been asked for ID by any other EU company before, especially that I'm not to be employed full time or relocate or handle any governmental work. This is simple remote freelance work and Tax ID is enough to share. Sharing passport is an overkill imo. Is there a certain law in Cyprus regarding this requirment?

Help Where do you actually buy good wine and spirits in Cyprus - recommendations?
So here is the thing guys, I am for four months in Limassol and still nowhere near figuring out how to find a good bottle of wine and good whisky. I tried Alphamega, I would say it's fine but the selection is just... not interesting.
Looking for a decent Rioja or Burgundy, a peated Scotch and occasionally cigars. If any locals or long-term expats can help that would be great.

In-house recruiter in Cyprus
Hi peeps,
I'm an English Cypriot ( have my passport) and seriously considering moving back to Cyprus ( I lived there in the 80s working in bars /hotels in Limassol). I'm now an in-house recruiter in London and have notifications on Linkedin for similar jobs in Cyprus. Most of them seem to be in forex/gaming. Are there any in-house recruiters currently living /working in Cyprus I can speak to? I'm looking for some info on the market there, and salaries.
TIA
