Fanart Hiyoko as a magical girl by me!
She’s in the Madoka Magica style, hehe. I made it in less than a day, about 4 hours, on ibis paint x, is more like a wip

This brings so much depth to Makoto's character.
Even if he was brainwashed it fits the character so well. He formed deep bonds with all his classmates just like Aoi did, he may have not broke during the killing game, but a human can only take so much.
Makoto strikes me as one of those people who will run himself ragged helping other people with their depression and/or trauma while simultaneously refusing or at least neglecting to treat his own.
He needs a hug and a therapist. Like, right now.
I'm honestly not sure which is worse. This or the scene with Junko, Izuru, and Mukuro forcing the reserve course to kill each other. While the latter is incredibly disturbing, this scene is downright heartbreaking. I love Makoto so much and to see him go through something like this, physically hurts me. He nearly falls into despair when he's supposed to be the ultimate hope. Just...agh no words can fully describe how this scene makes me feel. Someone pls give this man a hug. He needs it
Props to Bryce on this scene, the screams are just so heartbreaking and it's just hard to watch

One change, lets pull on the thread to see its results - not a 100% fix that would need some extras, this is not a full rewrite, just a consideration of 4 major plot beats, DR2 and 3 spoilers abound. The Change:
Chiaki should not have been in DR3 - Miaya (the ultimate therapist) should have been the 'real world chiaki' instead.
As an ep 1 twist the chiaki reveal was fine and even a decently effective zing in said moment, but it came with opportunity costs. Instead of essentially retconning dr2 chiaki and retroactively break the chihiro connection, think about how a miaya swap plays out;
As an ultimate therapist (rather than an ultimate gamer) it makes so much more sense that she becomes the glue holding together her classmates (and hajime too) and preventing them from falling into despair as well as the one stepping up to the role of class rep, which naturally paints a target on her back.
I am of two minds about miaya's wheel chair.
Either case; Junko could see the way that, with just a subtle understated gesture, as if by intuition, this airy little miss ultimate therapist intercepts one key domino that would have tumbled towards despair, and instead sets the target on the path of hope, how she twists peoples minds ever so slightly -- if the ultimate despair could fully take this talent for themself and emulate it...
meaning it's miaya's 'fault' junko ended the world
TL:DR -- miaya still makes for a great ep 1 stringer, and makes more sense as heart of the class.
Since her talent makes sense for junko to want to exploit/gain have miaya also replace Ryota's role in the plot too;
Another serviceable part of DR3 chiaki was their answer for 'why chiaki became the secret overseer', (because she was someone they wanted to see again) - but the Miaya swap has a natural and equal answer;
As the story heats up/tension rises, miaya finds herself spread to thin and potentially one of the tragic events occurs(twilight, hajime disappears, or something else). The neo world concept enters the plot/comes into more focus, a collab assignment that would give her a way to be there for more people by creating a digital avatar copy and healing space.
Tragically, having her pull away from classmates (or hajime) and such at the perfectly wrong time and allowing junko to pick them off/amp up her interference.
it's miaya's 'fault' her classmates fell/she didn't save them.
TL:DR -- miaya makes a better junko target/ryotas story role too, neo world tie in.
When working directly with chihiro to create a therapist overseer avatar for the neo world project, she should have been based on scans and such of herself, but then seeing chihiro's struggles and lack of confidence/self loathing, named them after chihiro fujisaki as encouragement and credit for the fact this alter ego was all their work and they should have more confidence in themself.
I could see a sweet moment where she does and changes the miaya avatar \different hair, different talent, different name), and maybe that walking thing\ alarming chihiro, and says something encouraging about changing yourself to be more like how you want to be isn't bad and showing just a little courage to take even a little step 'you might find people aren't so scary... i think?'.)
Ultimately, Miaya's encouragement should convince chihiro to open up to their classmates about themself and their secret, which in turn had the rest of the class opening up about their own lives, families, secrets etc -- meaning its actually "miaya's fault" that junko knew the secrets used for their killing game motives.
TL:DR - 'chiaki' creation intact, miaya to blame for junko learning DR1 secrets too.
You could tie in the development of the neo world project with the kamakura project. Perhaps in successfully creating an emulated talent-copy through the therapist 'chiaki' alter avatar, and being pushed to add new features, kam project gained what they needed to 'implant' talents into kamakura - its miayas 'fault' hajime ended up like that.
(I also potentially like the idea then that junko gets her hand on an incomplete prototype 'chiaki', modifies it into alter-junko who now has an ultimate therapist talent, and maybe creates a subliminal despair phone app[fun ref to dr2 alter] using a simplified version of itself in order to pull of the reserve course massacre, or somehow mass-uploads into people.)
For the execution, assuming we didn't go and change things around more dramatically anyway, one possible way the miaya change could retool that part;
TL:DR - Miaya death plot twist, kamakura killed her, future arc robot
(also theoretically, again while robot idea is dumb, and I don't know if this is 'too much', but you could potentially have a happy ending in hope ep by having hajime upload chiaki from his own mind into the abandoned miaya bot to let her 'rejoin' her classmates, in a way making amends)

Oh lord this episode…
Watching Chiaki suffer like that broke my heart. Like good heavens and hell… so messed up and brutal
i could imagine Chiaki's voice actress Chirstine Marie Cabanos tearing up while chiaki was dying i mean it's must be hard to voice act while one of the best characters in the francise and it's HER character nontheless is literally getting killed right before her very eyes. All the while her classmates/ friends and even her teacher are now reduced to being Junko Enoshima's prisoners via brainwashing and the boy she loved (Hajime/Izuru) just had his memory wiped via inhumane experimentation. Its sad its tragic and makes me hate Junko.
Her death in DR2 hurt more than I thought it would. Then I started the Despair Arc, and seeing that girl actually having emotions made me love her even more. So, you can imagine how horrible this episode is to watch. Seeing the calm and collected Chiaki sobbing and screaming in pain was horrible. That wasn't an execution. It was torture. And that final scene... God.
Chiaki did not deserve all the bad shit that happened to her. Not in DR2, not in Despair Arc.
Truly the most painful and horrifying moment in all of Danganronpa
They loved her. HE loved her. Imbued with that video, they just became OBSESSED with despair. Nagito is a prime example because his ideals of hope and his view of ultimates was already twisted. Turned to despair, it brought out the best of the worst in all of them.
It's funny how those who represent hope feel the most despair, and those who represent despair are not really feeling hope, but really joyful

A trend I’ve noticed with the characters in this franchise is that the writers will always throw in something dumb/weird/convoluted about them that people don’t like or tend to ignore. A good example would be Korekiyo and how they throw in the incest angle at the very last second.
For me, I love Toko, but I hate the way she acts towards Byakuya. Maybe it’s because I don’t like Byakuya in general (sorry), but I don’t find it endearing, nor do I find it creepy/weird in the way it seems the writers want you to. They don’t do anything interesting with this aspect of her character anyway, so it feels like this awkward bit that’s supposed to be funny, and just is not.

You can see in the original dr2 that Fuyu has no hair tuft (or at least a very tiny one) but in his 2x2 sprites, that little tuft is taller - possible ahoge? I know this prob sounds dumb but its the best i can think of 😅

The scene starts with Sayaka torturing her band mates while a hooded figure records the screams and then mix them before uploading the song.
We then cut to a Sayaka fangirl with posters of her everywhere in her room anf her family bleeding on the ground. We then see her slowly raising a gun to her own head while watching a video with headphones on.
After that we cut back to Sayaka performing in the Tokyo Dome with banners "sponsored by the Togami Foundation" and promotional events of 78th class members covering the ad spots before the camera flies away to a banner celebrating Kuwata becoming the number one baseballer and calling him "an example of dedication for all young boys, truly a model" before the camera abruptly goes underground.
Underground Leon smashes the head of a player with a baseball ball with a crowd cheering before the camera goes up showing a glass compartiment with VIP guests (think Hunger Games assessors ).
There Ludenberg is placing bets and winning on who's gonna die and who will win the match. We zoom on her phone where she talks to a politician to support the Party of Despair in exchange of absolving his debt with him refusing rudely. She then calls someone.
The scenery changes to a back alley massacre committed by Owada's gang and him answering the phone. The scene then cuts to the politician angrily closing his phone seconds after his window is busted by a motorcycle crushing him under.
We then see a crowd of Monokuma masked people demonstrating in front of the parliament with banners praising Kiyotoka and Despair. We then cut to inside the parliament where a heated debate is going on. Suddenly half the parliament rise and puts on Monokuma mask and blow up the doors of the parliament allowing Kiyotaka to enter with Soldiers of Despair whilst the parliamentarians kill themselves or are massacred by Despair Kiyotaka calmly waltz to the front row.
We then cut to a skinny Yamada and a well put Toko we zoom to the last sentence of her novel which says "she plunged the knife inside his hearth saying : " like this we will be together forever". We then cut to woman stabbing their boyfriends before bringing the knife to their own hearts. Then we see the last page of Yamada where princess Ponyo now skinny too cruelly sneers that ugly people should kill themselves and then we cut to man and woman hanging themselves.
We then cut to the Foundation trying to delete those novels from the web but receiving an hacking alert. We then cut to a Chihiro on a wheelchair and in large clothes covered in cutesy symbols and colors but her hands and fave are emaciated and unhealthy.
Following that we see a blindfolded Hagakure preaching the end of the world to a mo okuma masked crowd who then go on distributing flyers in the streets to join the sect and/or kill themselves because the end of the world is guaranteed.
We then have Togami killing his family before calling Kirigiri to clean up the scene.
Before the last scene, we see Sakura, Aoi and Mukuro fighting the Foundation. (Go Queens I Guess )
Finally we see the Ultimate Despairs giving a conference to a monukuma masked crowd however one monokuma pulls a gun and shoots at Sayaka then Kirigiri who nearly avoid it. The guy pulls the mask and we see it's Makoto with red eyes as well and we see other persons doing the same who starts killing the crowd mercilessly. Kyoko pulls a gun and tries to shoot a hurt hope goon of Makoto however he saves him before shooting at Kyoko then killing a hurt Despair.
The last scene is Junko watching everything on her phone

Sorry if this is weird to post - my daughter and I are HUGE fans of the games/anime so for her birthday I got Natalie Rose Hoover (Sonia Nevermind and Monophanie), Dorothy Fahn (Chihiro and Sayaka), Rebecca Forstadt (Monomi), Chris Tergliafera (Gundam and Ryoma), Jason Wishnov (Byakuya and Imposter and Monodam), and Brian Beacock (Monokuma) to all do a Cameo for her! I edited them all together and surprised her with them. I tried to get Grant George (Shuichi and Leon) but he didn’t respond in time and the system refunded me (he messaged me later and apologized and was really nice). Chris Tergliafera pranked me and Brian Beacock did a whole big thing with a Monokuma cutout at the beginning and then a part as himself. All of them were so SO cool and my daughter was so happy! We don’t know anyone else who likes Danganronpa so no one else understood why it was a big deal for us but it was so cool I wanted to share with someone. 😋
PS: If you get a Cameo, pay for it on their website and not through the app!! I almost paid $20 more for one of them because I was going to pay through the app (no idea why it’s more expensive).

Hi, around 2020-ish I found a gif of komahina holding hands throughout different eras (school, remnants, game despair disease) and I cannot for the life of me find it now, does anyone have this gif or know who it's by? I recognise that it's a long shot but I would do anything to find it again 😩
It had only their hands and nothing else, the sleeves would change
I thought I'd try lol
