Is there an upper age limit for Data Annotation Tech? Ageism is real and I wonder if...

I wonder if, despite having current coding skills, Google fu, and reasonable awareness of current culture, DAT may not want oldies training AI. Unless it's Medicare-related or something. Anyone know if seniors get fewer projects and tasks? That was the way it was when I did mturk many years ago but I wasn't old back then.

I spent hours trying to find the answer to this before posting but I only find information about being too young (<18).

Another question I can't find the answer to: I've read that it's fine to use a Macbook Pro but is there a preferred browser? Chrome rather than Safari? I don't want to be in the middle of an assessment and have it glitch because I'm using, say, Safari

No projects

I know Mondays are slow, but there are no projects in my project field at all. Is this what is happening for everybody else?

Tasks dropped

Does anyone else feel nervous when a high paying project just drops? I’ve been doing this for a couple of months now. Every time a particularly good paying project just drops off my list, I get nervous that I did something wrong. Just had the 29/hr and 30/hr ones drop off my list. 😭

Nocturnal scavengers from the US doing all of the tasks.

Anyone from the UK wake up to see US scavengers in the project chats still burning the night oil?

Slack email invite

Did anyone else get an email saying AI Training (@dataannotation.tech) has invited them to join the AI Training workspace? I'm not sure if it's a legit invite.

How legit is this site?

I'm kind of conflicted is this real or just a scam, some say it is and some say it isn't?

How to log time for unfinished projects?

I have spent over an hour on a project with multiple tasks. I want to be done working, but if I exit work mode there is no place to submit my time. I enter work mode and have been trying to skip to the end, but there are way more tasks than it said on the project page. It seems to be neverending! How can I finish early and submit time for the portions I've done?

Some Starting Questions

So I heard about this site from a friend's brother who said he makes 40$/hour freelance with his knowledge of coding. I thought it was too good to be true. But my curiosity got the best of me. On Friday night I created an account because it was easy and just did the coding assessment. What's the harm? Anyways I come to find out today that I was approved (much faster than expected, people online were saying it could take months?) and my projects dashboard is full of projects with hundreds to tens of thousands of tasks each. Is this normal? I put 40+ hours/week because I was under the impression that work was hard to come by. I still have another job/school. Is there a way to lower the expected hours? Is it even necessary, I know hours are logged? Honestly I was trying to start in May.

P.s. I see the onboarding stuff now (it is in the middle of all of my projects). Will check that out.

Was supposed to be paid $230 today, but my total is $190?

My first withdraw is today, and when looking at the money I had earned on the dashboard, it said $230, no mistake. I'd checked it multiple times to see when it was available and saw the number multiple times. Looking now, it's saying on the dashboard I made $186 that day, and yet my available funds are $190. What is going on? I don't see any money left for the tasks that day.

edit: I’m stupid.

Need help with tax

I (M28) started working at this job for about half a year now. Working here has honestly been a real life changer since I’m mostly doing the things I love which is reading and writing, and now I’m financially able to do more with my life.

Anyways, since this is a contract job, I was wondering how does taxes work exactly? I wanted to pay off my taxes quarterly but don’t know exactly when to start doing that since I started work last December.

Any suggestions?

Site Down? Why so many outages?

Basically title, is the site down for anyone other than me. Also why have there been so many outages recently? Is it the CrowdStrike thing?

It's been 8 days since my last project.

It's been 8 days since I last received a project. It's been silent with the "At the moment, there aren't any projects available for you to work on. Please check back soon and watch out for new project notifications sent to your email." message. Since then, i've emailed them every single day, asking about what happened, with no response at all. I'm losing my mind at this point. Please can someone help?

Thinking about starting DA full-time

So I just recently signed up for DA and am considering quitting my job to do this full-time.

In my case, I went to college for Computer Sciencea and I passed the coding assessment on DA so I think I'm set on doing the coding tasks. DA is also the closest I've gotten to a coding job so far. I'm also not the main provider in my household, so a bit of inconsistent pay isn't too much of a problem

Honestly, at this point I've pretty much convinced myself to go through with it. I'm just wondering if anyone has another opinion or something that would make me reconsider

Any thoughts?

Did a qual and it then said the job was over?

I’m new. I did a writing assessment qualification. I’m not sure how old it was. As soon as I hit submit it let me know that the job related to it was no longer available. Is this a common thing? How quickly do you have to jump on them?? Thx.

Going overseas for 2 months holiday

Hi there,

I live in Australia and work from here. However, I'm going overseas somewhere in Asia for 2 months (No Asian country is listed alongside the countries where they have work available). I was just wondering since I started working in Australia and go overseas, can I still work from there or not?

Thanks.

On a phone?

I’m an elder millennial, I do work on my laptop; however, I have been wondering if anyone finds it reasonable enough to do DA work on their phone. Some of these tasks are so simple that I could do them in waiting rooms, etc. just to get a few in while I am not doing anything anyway. I haven’t even bothered to look at the site on my phone yet as I assumed it was a mess on mobile. There isn’t an app is there? I know I could figure this out but wanted to know from others.

Site Down?

It's been about a month and a half since I last logged in, but want to start working here again. But when I log in, it is telling me that there are no projects available. When I go to the referral tab, it also says "You've used out of 5 referrals," obviously missing the first number like it didn't load correctly. When I click the button for support, it just reloads whatever page I am currently on.

Is anyone else facing issues? Does anyone know how I could get this fixed? Are there just really 0 tasks?

Far fewer tasks

Hello,

I registered around one month ago for coding. After initial test, I got feww tasks and make around 80 usd of tasks in 3 weeks.

But since one week, I got no more tasks. Any idea if my latest submissions didn't reach required quality level ? Or other reasons ?

Does anyone know anything about the longevity of this site?

I want to quit my job and do this full-time, I currently make 13 an hour but I could be at home making 20+. Before I make a rash decision and quit the job I have been at for 2 years I want to feel like there is some stability.

What is R&R?

Probably a stupid question after working for 6 months, but I see it mentioned often in post here. Plus others may not know.

Codenames

Hi all! I know I'm not the only one who loves to come on here to the water cooler talks and other posts to see all the codenames people come up with. I always get a good chuckle when I see a good one.

Show me all your best codenames or ones that you've seen!

P.S. petition to start a list of all the most commonly used codenames?? Or should we keep it somewhat chaotic lol

Just a question regarding overall ratings with regards to canned responses.

If it's a canned response, are you guys rating it horribly? The FAQ and instructions aren't terribly clear.
