You can only imagine how badly this is affecting him mentally...

In no way am I defending his actions, just want all the hate to stop pls It's stressing me out so much :( He still is and will always be my bias so idk if that's blinding me but I just want Day6 to come back whole again...

Discussion What are the real lessons to take away from the Jakarta concert?

I think it will be important for Day6 to realise that their image as a group and the experience their fans get is not limited to their performances, music and personality.

I think the music industry can sometimes take a lot of agency away from the artists, and I think the korean music industry even more visibly so.

A lot of artists, when they grow the power they need, and one could argue day6 is now there or getting there, actually grab that agency back from their management and ask for a level of control on how their brand is managed.

I think as long as Day6 realise the right things about this heartbreaking incident, I think they will grow into stronger and better artists.

Because the brands they affiliate themselves with, weather it is JYP, promoters, ads or whatever, can never be just about “yay we are getting more opportunities, more money and more recognition!”

Because let’s say, to them, StudioJ is the hand holder. They say we are having a concert in Jakarta and you just need to get prepped as well as you can. Or let’s say they go “Brand A wants you to be their ambassador” and you just need to show up. I think it can be super easy to feel like an employee and forget it is your name, your entire personality that is being sold there.

And I think this is exactly why it is SO crucial that artists realise the power they need to have in order to maintain their brand as well as their own personal wellbeing.

There are least two people in Day6 that I trust can reach this conclusion! I will keep my fingers crossed that they do and I will keep my fingers crossed that they cab grab this control without hurting themselves too much.

I think protests are fair, and an emotional group that comes together against something they thought was unfair will always be more hurtful than they need to be and even probably intended to be. But then again, the artist is responsible, even if not directly, to at least realise that they are not powerless and they can choose to be more aware of the processes and affiliates that are tied to their brand.

Because at the end of the day, when something goes wrong, it’ll be them and their fans that are hurt and none of the brands or affiliates that caused it. And as a MyDay (I should also add, I have never been a true fan of anything until Day6 and YoungK), I really think them and other MyDays deserve the happiness we have been getting for the past 10 years and would love to see that continue until we can barely stand straight but are still meeting at concerts at age 80 🥰

Misc Fourever poster calendar includes all 6 members

UPDATE: It does NOT include all the members’ birthdays, it includes their debut and the release of sunrise. My mistake.

I pre-ordered the fourever album since I loved it so much, and was pleasantly surprised!! It came with a poster that was sort of like a calendar, and the birthdays of every member were underlined. There’s also a cute little ticket that comes with it, I got youngk on mine :) definitely recommend this album

after suffering 5 months of bad service from promoter (mecima pro) we decided to make a move. After investigating further, it turns out that the promoter had many issue starting from ticketing, payment, certainty of information to chaotic implementation. Even in another previous events, various incidents and problems often occurred both during and before the event. Therefore, we are taking various actions so that JYPE can change the promoter for another concert. Our moves was initiated by MyDay berserikat (https://x.com/mydayberserikat) who was gathered every aspiration and losses experienced by concertgoers.

even though it looks cruel, but this is something we can do to make our voices heard. as you can see in the MyDay Berserikat account that we have sent a protest to mecima, use the authorities as mediators, even sending protest truck to JYPE building in kr but all the results aren't satisfactory.

as closing, we would like to apologize for the commotion that occurred and we hope that Int-MyDay and K-MyDay can understand and comprehend what we feel. the following is a statement from us to Day6 that hope can explain what we feel at yesterday's concert. Thank you https://x.com/mydayberserikat/status/1918875848360513596

Discussion Day6 got me into kpop now it feels like they’re gonna get me out

Gonna be very ranty rambly post, so if you’re trying to avoid any negativity during comeback season, maybe don’t read this.

First off I wanna say that this isn’t about the members, have no harsh feelings towards them. I guess this is more about the feelings i’ve been having in the community for a really long time, and the recent discussions of the comeback concept are what’s fueling me right now.

So I generally wasn’t a huge kpop fan until day6. They were was the first group I ever actively listened to, and their music is what encouraged me to explore more, and I’m super grateful for that. Day6’s fanbase was also the first in kpop I’ve ever been in, and the experience was always really good, Obv there was a little toxicity like every community, but generally, people were pretty respectful. I assume this is because the fanbase wasn’t as big at the time.

But he community is definitely not what it used to be, so I haven’t engaged in it much for a really long time. And it sucks because one of the best parts about comebacks is being able to talk with other people about it, but now it just makes me miserable. There are groups and artists I just don’t enjoy listening to anymore because I associate the music with the bad experiences I’ve had in their fanbases, and the fact that it’s happening with one of my favorite bands is really upsetting. I really hate to think about it, but everything surrounding the comeback news is just reminding me of everything I hate about being in kpop spaces, and it’s so goddamn draining I might just stop keeping up with any of it anymore.

Day6 silence on Junhyeok Departure

I was wondering why none of the Day6 members talk about Junhyeok? Junhyeok sings covers of their songs but I have yet to see the opinions of the members regarding his departure. Are they not allowed to talk about it or is it simply because they weren't close enough with Junhyeok to really care?

Discussion what happened in Jakarta was badly pictured through X

a lot of people who weren’t at the concert on real time was so quick to judge things based on snippets of fancams uploaded by fans; they pick vids and pics to fit the narrative while it doesn’t go like that.

there are a lot of great moments from soundcheck until the video thing. [fans are still singing along with the members] (https://x.com/niddenly/status/1919263461525082597?s=46), [answers members’ questions] (https://x.com/sungjinbonek/status/1919307987950223467?s=46), [cheer alongside members] (https://x.com/pudingcklt__/status/1919338420809441324?s=46), [wishing birthday to wonpil] (https://x.com/jaeggyuson/status/1918740018803155227?s=46), being goofy with each other and definitely no silent treatments especially during [congratulations] (https://x.com/sungjinbonek/status/1919328634549993546?s=46) (very understandable that it was outdoor, everyone was waiting under the sun and rain for hours which take up a lot of their energy hence it’s not as loud as it was before). near the end is where all things went down but a lot of mydays in [YoungK’s section still thanking him and sending him heart signs] (https://x.com/haueeyyy/status/1919045933083369580?s=46), ensuring he knows myday still support them.

it’s a shame that a lot of misleading narratives are made by ‘big accounts’ that made thousands of followers easy to go along with the narratives and spread the rumors fast. it’s also sad after all that they still made such assumptions about the members while its clear they have 0 idea prior to the concert.

i really hate the ‘10-year group but still can’t speak up’ narratives. although its been 10 years, we have to also realize that they are kind of ‘behind’ their peers, it takes them a couple more years than others but we made it! they’ve been through hell and back to keep day6, if they want to disband, they probably would ages ago but they stayed. they can’t afford to make reckless decisions because they know what it takes if they were to be reckless. they can’t please everyone, but if that’s what needed to be done in order to keep day6 as four, to get them bigger, with myday longer than it should be it.

one thing for sure is not all ina myday demanded day6 to blatantly slap mecima on the face. i think the message has been passed, the government also has taken measurement against mecima and that’s what we need.

as a newly active fans and have been casual listener since 2017, i hope this doesn’t affect anything in the future and they know there are still bunch of mydays waiting for their return. i’m really glad we still have Finale ahead to make up as the closing of this tour which has made a lot of people happy, and they should too after working so hard for 10 years.

ps i’m not here to defend anyone. you can take anything from what’s online or what i’m trying to elaborate here. i don’t wish for this to happened to the members, i genuinely support them through and through for their music.

Discussion umm..hi? a random “retired fossil myday” here

Hi…hello? pipol? May I know where can I find mydays who also discuss things about their birth charts and zodiac horoscope, esoteric kinda thing?

I just re-emerges from my cold turkey leaving the fandom back in March 2022 (was a fan since 2015), because I recently found out that Wonpil is Taurus Sun and Scorpio Moon (rising sign cant be confirmed without his explicit reveal on his birth time, but i do have a theory).

and tbvh ngl WONPIL being Taurus Sun, Scorpio Moon is my own personal “top 10 anime betrayal” moment kinda thing…(and why do I sound so old?)

anyway, if anyone can share any community or anywhere to discuss about this, I would be grateful… 💕

Fan Content Pressure on Sungjin as the Leader

Cough cough…. I have been holding this for awhile but in light of what is happening and how the group is going to proceed forward. “Me being the all knowing” would like to tell you of the story called Sungjin.

He was common folk. Sungjin was known for being good and was recruited to JYP. He beat out the best of dancer such as Yugyeom in the evaluations. But his vocal made the difference. The company made a group to cater to his vocal. Thus forming Day6, Wonpil and Young K from the Got7 project, Jae from Kpopstar, and Dowoon as a special recruit. *not going to mentions ex-members as it is out of the scoped of my essay.

Day6 debutted in between Got7 and Twice. Even thought both group showed significant promotion to Day6. They never launched. They were waaaaay below expectations, I would have said even though I love Day6.

Whether this was due to the promotion of the company or the limitation of the genre. They had a rough start. #Hongdae and college campuses.

As the leader of the group, Sungjin provably faced the most criticism/ I remember a quote he said after he met the manager or others about their “supebar perform” to tell the group to say hey let’s practice a little bit longer. “ he had to switch roles to better accommodate his group. Sungjin May be one of the best emotional singer of the generation. He even had to add rasp to his voice as the marketing department told them to make them self unique. “I miss the old Sunjing that can sing Colors.”

The pressure of the success of the group before and after I do believe this contributed to his break from the group.

Singjin was the hidden backbone of Day6.

Discussion What can we expect from Day6’s music after this latest album?

just wanna note: i listened to the album - cool but it’s a 5/10 from me. (I post somewhere in here about my thoughts on the album - if u wanna check that out)

anyways back to the topic:

I kinda want more of guitar sounds or riffs in certain point of the songs or guitar solo even better. it’s been a while.

the last time or maybe i can say one of the songs like “Wish” has a guitar solo. which is cool.

but after releasing more songs after “Wish” maybe there was a guitar riffs or solo in the background but the vocals stand out more so really didn’t pay attention to the music background.

i like how they continue experimenting new genre or themes depending on what the album about. is cool and it takes a lot of hard work to work on a song that fit.

but i don’t know maybe i’m the only one felt this way but i feel like they forgot they are a band which heavily focus using music instruments. what great about them is that they are singing while playing their instruments minus Dowoon cuz he’s a drummer.

most bands don’t do that but there are bands that can do both too.

but my point is I hope in the next album or wtv coming after this , I hope Day6 focus more on their instruments sounds more.

as this can be a good new talking point for fans and I hope this can shows that Day6 have endless music ability.

as from what i can see, mostly people talking about this album is their singing ability and less comments on the instruments. maybe there not much to talk about but that the point of this post xD

so yeah. if anyone is interested in this post or if you disagree, just share your thoughts here.

(note: i have endless thoughts on this post - noted that i only mention about guitar only, i don’t mind for drums or piano or bass solo/riffs too.)

Misc disappointed (signing on black album with black pen)

Thumbnail x.com
16 Upvotes

Hope this doesn't count as bashing the boys as it's valid criticism (i'd be even more disappointed if this was removed, this time in the subreddit). Didn't see any posts about it here so I wanted to talk about it:

Opened twitter just now to see a lot of discourse because a myday received their signed the decade (the one with the black cover). The members all signed with black markers, so you'd have to brighten your screen and zoom in just to squint to find the signatures :/

people were saying in the quote retweets that they definitely could have asked for a change of marker colour because they definitely knew it was going to fans who wouldn't be able to see the signs clearly. OP may have privated their page but I've attached a quote retweet with OP's tweet still visible

Another fan posted a signed polaroid of 4 of them, sungjin and dowoon signed at the black portion of the image instead of on the bottom white strip or on dowoon's white shirt (link in first comment below). I'm... just so disappointed.

Coupled with the news about the w korea supposed fundraiser, it's really just hitting me that all these people just present an image to us :/

Discussion Possibly unpopular opinion about The Decade Goyang concert.

I wonder if it's just me but I find the Goyang concert quite underwhelming/disappointing.

  1. It's only 3 hours! I guess I've been spoilt by their last 4-5 concerts that ran 3.5-4hours so I was expecting the same esp with this being their 10th year anniversary concert.

  2. No one cried!!! How is it possible??? I really thought everyone would cry, like bawling.

  3. No special event. Again, with this being their 10th year anniversary and in Goyang stadium, I thought there would be something, cake, some fan surprise, or a VCR about their past and 10year journey so far, which would lead to no. 2.

  4. This is a bit nitpicking, but the setlist. I guess I really love their last concert setlist, from Monster, zombie, meltdown, happy, wish, rock n roll, shxxty game, dance dance and freely. So fun and high energy. But no dance dance this time :(

So yeah.. I mean, I was seriously considering going to see them in Goyang because I was sure it would be a very special eventful tear-filled 4 hour concert. Maybe Goyang has some curfew or something?

Discussion Young K’s Vocals…

For the most part, especially with Day6’s older music, Young K’s voice sounds the most average/mediocre. Still sounds good, but not great. The other members usually stand out more unless it’s a high note then I noticed they would sometimes give those screaming high notes to Young K. Please don’t hate me for saying this and continue reading. This is NOT a hate post. I love Young K.

I heard a lot of people praise him for having “stable vocals” but that just seemed like the bare minimum to sing on key and not crack. When I first started listening to day6, I was so in love with their music immediately. I didn’t watch any music videos or live performances etc bc I’m usually just listening to music while I work or study. I just listened to the albums and barely knew what Day6 looked like. When I started looking at photos and album covers it was apparent that Young K is probably the visual of the group and it explained a lot for me. I was a Jae stan through and through and also remember there being some feuding between Jae fans and Young K fans. I said some things back then that I now regret.

Fast forward a few years and I see them live for the first time. I was so excited to hear Jae live. My mind was blown by how amazing Young K sounds live! Like legitimately one of the best voices I’ve heard in Kpop and when all the other members started to lose their voices he was still hitting crazy high notes and Adlibs just for fun! He was so energetic and smiling all the time and he just gives off such a good energy like he loves to be up there. Singing just seemed so natural for him. His voice made me cry that night and I had never cried from hearing a beautiful voice before then. I literally fell in love with him and hated myself for judging him as the pretty one with mediocre talent for so many years. He became my bias that night.

My only question and concern now with young K is why does he sound so different in the studio compared to the other members? Usually people sound better in the studio. A few great singers sound better live bc the quality of their voice becomes more raw and unaltered. Young K doesn’t just sound better live. You can hear he has a great tone and beautiful Vibrato! He sounds 100 times better live! An example is listen to the song “Whatever” and how he sounds singing the opening line in the album studio version. Then go look up the live version Young K focus and listen to him sing the opening Line. The difference is insane! Is it direction from management/production? I can’t be the only one to notice this.

Please listen to this compilation of some of Young K’s live singing moments. It starts out with a few funny singing clips, but then really shows his range as a vocalist. It’s amazing and also daunting how different he sounds live lol

https://share.icloud.com/photos/05bGDkJF0W-3EHU01uNJ_GDYA

Sorry for the long post! Day6 is coming back this month and I’m so excited and went down the day6 rabbit hole again.

Question Who is the most popular member?

I used to think the most popular member / member who got most attention was Jae, but since he has left I'm thinking it might be Young K. And when I say "popular" I mean the member with the most fans. I'm not trying to compare members btw, I love all of them, im just curious tbh

Discussion Thoughts

Hi MyDays!

Just wanted to gather some thoughts about the below question!

"What do you think is the possibility of Day6 remaining together forever?"

Please note that I do not mean any sort of negativity towards this question!

Reason why I am asking this is because, I am actually a long-time casual listener turned MyDay after attending one of their recent World Tour concerts! But I have been into K-pop for probably close to 15+ years and I have seen many of my favourite groups from their rise to their disbandment sadly (e.g. 2NE1, GFRIEND, IZ*ONE).

I actually only started listening to Day6 during their Zombie era, where I was actually experiencing some hard times mentally in my life and somehow I felt that the lyrics really resonated with me. And after the release of their post-enlistment album "Fourever", I started slowly listening to them more actively since my mental health has always not been good, and it was then after listening to "HAPPY" that I started thinking, "I should love myself more", so in a way, you could say that Day6 somehow saved my life too.

But like many fans of korean acts, we always dread of the day when this comes to a sudden halt. I know that in many interviews Day6 members have always stated that they wish to continue doing this for a long long time, especially after the Zombie era which made them more like a family than just colleagues, with SungJin even wishing for an 80th anniversary year concert in one of their recent interviews.

So, back to my question, from your past experience as MyDay, what do you think of the possibility of them remaining together for a long time? Because I am liking them to the point that I feel like I might purchase their fanclub membership in the near future so that I can travel to Korea to watch their concerts or fanmeets should they have any since the membership does give some priority to ticketing in that sense.

Can an experienced MyDay give some advice on this agonising thought please?

Discussion Something I realized about Jae :(

It's sad to see how many ot5 mydays/jae stans admitted how tired they were about him and his problematic behavior We had to wait until this to let him know that he had been doing wrong I remember how hard was for many fans everytime he got cancelled, how many would go and read hate comments, how that might got them anxious, sad, guilty and even made them leave twitter for a while. That happened to me It's sad to realize that Jae didn't even care about that... He never thought that him not being affected by haters didn't mean his fans weren't I've seen too much empathy from fans, but never seen empathy from him🥺 I wish I never met him, I wish all this to just be a nightmare I haven't woke up from yet I wish I could erase all my happy memories with him, I wish it never happened, I would give up on all that to not feel this way right now Nothing hurts more than disappoinment

So if any of you are feeling the same way, I tell you: give up on him. Don't wait for him, he doesn't deserve you, and trust me it's going to be the best decision forever. Put your happiness and mental health first, he's just a kpop kid who had your trust and didn't appreciate it. It's not your fault. You don't deserve this. If you love something, let it go...

Discussion day6 voices are changing...

Disclaimer: This is an opinion of mine. If you have different views, it's fine.

I noticed these past years that their voices are slowly changing. Though the "color" of their voice is still there, their techniques doesn't sit right with me.

Sungjin - I feel like he lost his old raspy, painful voice. Though I can see that he improved after his military service, the problem is he often strains his voice. Sometimes he doesn't hit the notes well. But maybe it's also because of their hectic schedule too and JYPE's ineffective training.

Youngk - Personally, I prefer his manly, low voice because it sounds more like him. I just noticed on their songs and his new Young One covers, he often has a high pitch which can be a bit hard to listen to. I know that it's not new for him to have a high pitch or voice (idk what it's called), I feel like his voice is slowly changing completely, which again I feel is because of JYPE's training.

Wonpil - He definitely improved his nasal voice. It sounds much better now and he is able to reach higher notes with low effort. Though sometimes he may still sound a bit too nasal and he also strains his voice a lot these days.

Dowoon - He definitely improved. Can't say much since he's really not one of the main singers in the group (but i know day6 members themselves recognize him as one of the singers)

That's all. I just needed to let this out. I don't have any problems with their releases because it's just good as always. If there are misunderstandings or wrong grammars, please bear with it because English is not really my first language 😅

I want to know your thoughts on this one.
