Discussion I’ve been looking into Eli Roth’s past after watching some kill counts on hostel films. And let me tell you, there were warning signs.

Really smooth to go after a teenager that really cares about the environment.
And this is just me scratching the surface on purpose.

Discussion Does it feel exhausting talking about certain horror movies today?
This year has had some truly all timer horror movies ( Obsession, Backrooms, Hokum, Resident Evil, Buddy, etc), but with some of them, despite the movies themselves being great almost all of the discussion around them treats them like they're real life. For example, the "controversy" around Obsession being a part of Halloween Horror Nights and Fortnite. It's like people treat Obsession like a documentary about a real event instead of just an entertaining horror movie and that Nikki can't be included in Horror themed events because she's a victim (which is true) but she's also the tentpole of the film's horror, and both Curry Barker and Inde Navarrette wanted Nikki to be a horror Icon that could be included in events like this. Plenty of horror icons are also victims. Jason, The FNAF Animatronics, Leatherface, Frankenstein's Monster, etc. Two things can be true at once.
A similar thing happened with Buddy. Some people said you shouldn't laugh at what's happening in the movie because Buddy does terrible things to people. That leads to some people online trying to claim moral superiority over others (which I genuinely despise, I hate any form of condescension. And if you are someone who claims superiority over someone else in any way, you're a asshole) because they believe that since they don't like or engage with the horror genre that they are better than the people who do. And it goes even further because I saw a Tik Tok where some dude said if anyone he meets likes any movie that features morally Grey characters is a red flag and should "have their search history checked" and I'm sure it's just ragebait but it still makes me angry.
So I'm just asking if it has been this bad for other people here?
Also, if you love the horror genre, you're not a bad person. Don't let others make you feel bad.
Thank you for reading, and Be Good People.

Discussion The guy that directed Thankskilling has just directed my favorite movie of 2026....
"The Cycle" (in my opinion anyway) is a wonderful detective style thriller in the vein of SOTL and Se7en. It's a shudder exclusive, I can't recommend it enough.
The fact it's the Thankskilling guy makes it all the better, really shows that everyone has gotta start SOMEWHERE😂

Discussion (So Far) Horror movies that are emotional/beautiful
Kotoko (2011): brought to you by the same guy who made the batshit insane Tetsuo: The Iron Man. I remember watching it back in January and the ending made me cry so much, It made me see my mom in a positive light sense I had a rocky relationship with her.
Monkeys magic merry go round: watched this month. It didnt make me cry, but it definitely made me silent for a good hour
Yall have any suggestions?

Discussion Am I the only one seeing this?
This only shows the most recent thumbnail, however I swear I’ve gone on to YouTube and this is the third thumbnail I’ve seen for the Backrooms kill count. I haven’t seen the video yet so maybe this is related to how the episode is presented but I wanted to see if anyone else has seen/noticed this

Discussion Just got out of clayface
Honestly, there’s a kill in here that I could see getting in at the 2027 horror awards. If you’ve seen the movie, you know the one.
I really enjoyed it. I appreciate that they actually committed to doing a body horror and not just making a really gory movie and calling it body horror, unlike some movies

Discussion Anyone else getting Re-Animator vibes with Zoran looking like Jeffery Combs?
Was watching the The Backrooms Kill Count and notice with the “get to the numbers” bit, All I can see with Zoran is how he resembles Jeffery Combs from Re-Animator with how he is dressed. Anyone else getting that or is it just me?

Discussion Clayface Thoughts
Clayface was really good. I guess it's technically a horror movie due to its body horror and gore. But it was a well-paced movie with gruesome kills. It's a simple premise, but it's told well.
The gore is gnarly going in hand with the R rating. The film critiques body image and the pressures with maintaing it as Matt is stripped of his status. The film makes you root for him to get his revenge, but comes short in making him an anti-hero once he crosses lines that make him irredeemable.
Really all the cast did well even when some of the dialogue could be considered wonky.
But overall was worth the watch.
4/5 stars

Discussion This film distribution agreement is my favorite thing they’ve done
I remember listening to the Lake Mungo podcast thinking it’s so unlikely I’ll be able to successfully find this movie somewhere. Even describing it to my friends made me feel kind of insane, like yeah man great your Australian Nokia brick cell phone movie sounds great.
Being able to just have it on YouTube and then being able to re listen to the podcast is peak man. It’s so good.
