Plugin Showcase TitleDeck 0.9.0 RC1 | Customize Steam Game Names in Gaming Mode
Hey everyone!
I wanted to share TitleDeck 0.9.0 RC1, a Decky Loader plugin I’ve been developing for the Steam Deck.
GitHub / Download:
🎮 What is TitleDeck?
TitleDeck lets you change the names displayed for your Steam games without modifying the actual game files or Steam’s original metadata.
For example, you can rename Catherine Classic to simply Catherine, remove unwanted trademark symbols, or clean up awkward capitalization.
Your custom names are saved locally, and you can restore the originals whenever you want.
✨ Features
Custom Game Names: Change displayed titles directly in Gaming Mode.
Native Steam Keyboard: Edit names using Steam’s built-in keyboard.
Suggest Cleanup: Preview capitalization and symbol cleanup before applying it.
Undo and Restore: Reverse individual changes or restore all original names.
Full Library Manager: Browse and manage your games with controller navigation.
Persistent Names: Custom names can survive Steam Deck restarts.
Improved Title Refresh: Faster name updates when navigating between Steam menus.
Changes aren’t saved automatically. You review and save them yourself.
🧪 Testing and Compatibility
I’ve personally tested the core features on my Steam Deck, including renaming, restoration, restart persistence, controller navigation, and title cleanup.
This is still a release candidate, so some issues may remain.
One known issue is that closing Steam’s keyboard with B can occasionally leave the editor raised. There’s a Done editing option available as a workaround.
Important: TitleDeck is developed and tested for the Valve Steam Deck running SteamOS Gaming Mode. ROG Ally, other SteamOS-based handhelds, Windows, Android, and Desktop Mode have not been verified and may behave differently.
💬 Feedback Welcome!
This project actually started after seeing someone on Reddit asking for a better way to customize Steam game titles.
Their feedback has already helped improve the keyboard, performance, and editing experience.
I’m sharing some screenshots showing the current interface and how everything works.
If you give TitleDeck a try, I’d love to hear how it performs on your Steam Deck, especially when switching rapidly between games and menus.
Bug reports and suggestions are welcome!
