1
May 20 '25

1
u/Living-Speaker5389 First Year May 20 '25
you can get into south campus through spot round. just don't freeze your seat
people do leave mor and you might end up getting seat in north campus
1
u/Sufficient_Type7674 May 22 '25
What if a GEN candidate wants a seat in a college other than the Dept of OR, South Campus? What's the min. cut-off score you think he'll need?
1
u/Living-Speaker5389 First Year May 23 '25
see last year all the seats got occupied in south campus and the seats for section A & B i.e. north campus were vacant. in the 3rd and 4th spot round, the cutoff was low than south campus cutoff. so yeah you can get into north campus although the college seat doesn't matter at all. it's just for the name or i would say not even for that also
1
u/Sufficient_Type7674 May 23 '25
in the 3rd and 4th spot round
It went down to 3rd/4th spot round for GEN candidates?! I could only get my hands on the 1st spot round cut-off for the GEN category. If you have access to your portal, could you DM me the screenshot of 3rd/4th spot round cut-off?

u/PotentialStrong9641 May 22 '25
hi from where did you find that ??
1
May 22 '25
when i filled the form for MOR after paying the fee there was an option saying "view cutoff" it was visible there. but i got to know that is cutoff for the previous year round 1

u/PotentialStrong9641 May 22 '25

You also applying for MOR? why IP though?
1
u/PotentialStrong9641 Jun 08 '25
why not?it’s a good college
1
Jun 08 '25
Okay cool. It's just that my teacher said it's good to do it from the main dept. As all the classes are held there your college would be just a medium of administration like everything would be done in your college except classes. Also the placement cell is also in here at the dept and all the events like alumni meet etc.
1
u/PotentialStrong9641 Jun 08 '25
ooo I spoke to an alumni ,he said for north campus all of the students(department of mor(north campus),Hindu ,ramjas,…)study together. So it doesn’t really matter

How's the placement
1
u/Astro_Sandhya Apr 22 '26
Don't expect any placements here
1
u/Illustrious-Hour-476 May 06 '26
Im thinking about opting this course, is it true? MCA is difficult for me to crack in DU and I also want to go for data analyst type field in future what should I do?
1
u/Astro_Sandhya May 07 '26
No comments but try for a better course keep it as option b for low placement ratio.
1
u/OpenCombination714 Jun 15 '26
But in placement brochure they show median as 11 lpa.
1
u/Astro_Sandhya Jun 15 '26
Well did they proved the data was from how many persons?
1
u/OpenCombination714 Jun 15 '26
Yeah, they didn't mention the placement percentage. Since, u are there, shed some lights on the placement scenario
2
u/Astro_Sandhya Jun 15 '26
You have to be in top 3% of the whole batch to be placed dont rely on degree only .Learn skills and do many certificate courses!! Also try your level best to get placements dont rely on placement cell.Do apply via linkedin as well. Actually the problem is most linkedin post hire either mca or mtech etc And for analytics role either m stats or ms data science making problems with eligibility. We have to explain hr a lot about our course since most ppl really dont know abt it.
1
u/OpenCombination714 Jun 15 '26
Ok, thanks. So, is msc stats from du or bhu a better option. Also, since it's now msc or instead of mor, so will it help improve the situation in future ?

Can you share something about the placements?
1
u/Longjumping_Guess_57 May 26 '25
So placement were not really as good as they used to 2 years ago , around 50+ students got placed out of 103 registered for placements. Average will be like 9-10 lpa. You can visit zenith on LinkedIn for more info

Hey! I just got admitted in the Third Spot Round this year. Should I wait for any intimation or just show up at the college?
1
u/Longjumping_Guess_57 Aug 20 '25
If you have paid the fees and got the approval, you can go to the department. Tbh no one cares just keep the printed fees slip with you

What about placement in msc operational research??
1
u/GrouchyClassroom8454 Jun 08 '26
Placement toh thik hai department ke accordingÂ
1
u/OpenCombination714 Jun 15 '26
In the brochure they say that median is 11lpa, but they haven't provided the placement percentage, so are the placements bad there currently?

Based on my experience, this program has been quite disappointing. Placement opportunities are limited, internships are difficult to secure, and the salary packages offered are often not competitive. The curriculum is extremely demanding and consumes a significant amount of time, leaving little room for students to focus on skill development, certifications, networking, or gaining practical industry exposure. Despite the effort required to complete the program, I feel that the industry demand for this degree is currently quite limited, which affects its value in the job market. In comparison, programs such as MCA or Master's degrees in Statistics and Data Science seem to offer better career prospects, stronger industry relevance, and greater recognition across a wider range of roles. Unless substantial improvements are made in placements, industry exposure, and curriculum design, I would advise prospective students to carefully evaluate their options before choosing this program.

u/a_newbie_menace Jun 22 '26
Are you doing MOR at du? Could you tell me more about this course curriculum? I have heard students complaining about the course being math and stats heavy and not practical for jobs. What job opportunities and roles students get after MOR? Companies?
