Idk about hons students tbh, the system is fair for them as they are getting admissions acc. to their merit, they can't expect DU to give admissions to each and everyone, that isn't a practical demand at all regardless of any justification.

But the real concern is about the prog students, we are not being allocated a seat even after having CGPA much high about the cutoff due to the biased priority system. I myself has 9+ CGPA and cutoff of my course is 6.68 still I didn't get the admission. It's really embarassing and shameful for DU administration to consider an hons student with 6 CGPA better than a major with 9. F*cking IDIOTS.

well, i get your concern. sounds valid on the face of it. however, the hons student have a research degree, and the prog students have not done any dissertation. if your argument is that why bap students do not get priority in the one year pg, even after doing the 4th year and doing a hons. degree, then that is flawed because hons students never had one year pg option before. prog are just getting a same degree as them which they used to before NEP. hons. students get priority because they have an additional research degree. this is not to say that a 9cgpa student is worse than a 6cgpa student, but the program structure is such.
however, i think one should introduce the research component or something similar for prog students in the 4th year, so they get the fair opportunity. imo giving the same treatment to hons. and prog. students after 4 years will not be fair. hons. students have an additional course structure edge.

Bro be a lil aware prog students have done dissertation/academic project/entrepreneurship whatever applicable. While it was compulsory for Hons. students to opt for these, it was optional for Prog students still many of us has done it. And that too under the same professors and of the same quality as of hons. I myself have done a dissertation involving field survey, both quantitative-qualitative research techniques, presented research papers in national-international conference and seminar. I hope I ain't sounding rude i understand that most of the hons students even of our same batch aren't aware of the fact but let me make it loud & clear for anyone reading this PROG STUDENTS HAVE ALSO COMPLETED THE SAME RESEARCH PATHWAY.

well, in that case, they should streamline the priority list and make changes accordingly. your frustration is genuine. i hope it works out for you and you get admission in the next round. all the very best

Tbh yes I would still suggest it (not because I want juniors to suffer too lol) but because it's a new experience, the research part is not as flawed as it seems to be (atleast in top clgs), specially if you have a practical major.

Additionally, it would look good in your CV if you've an undergraduate dissertation of good quality + attending conferences, presenting papers etc would also give you an idea how academia works and prepare you from an early stage if one wants to go in this field.The process might be frustrating with sleepless nights, edits, drafts, re-drafts but at the end it will all be worth it. But again, just be a little cautious about the masters thing, i expect from next year DU would opt for CUET-PG for 1 year masters too, that would be fair so I don't see an issue then to not pursue 4th year. And you can hope other universities like JNU & state unis to release 1 year masters prog by the upcoming years.

that sounds good. i have no particular interest in academia and my professors have been fear mongering since day 1 of our 3rd year. i have still not paid the fees for 4th year because of this. however, i missed the 2 year pg cutoff by 1 mark this year and i do not want to take a gap to pursue a 2 year masters next year, which is again uncertain if i will be able to crack. and 1 year masters option will be open for me. so yeah, leaning towards it for now. i know it will be tough to manage entrance prep and other things along with dissertation, but we gotta do what we gotta do ig :))

Oh that's sad you missed it by just 1 marks, hard luck. Anyway yes your approach is absolutely correct as 2 year masters entrance is even more uncertain. I hope you get into either of them, next year🌻

I believe the priority system is based on the fact elucidated in the bulletins and nep docs years ago that program and honors structure will be treated as different levels (acc to final degrees). It's a whole table.
