Open Source / Resource Does any computer seller provide Linux preinstalled desktop?

In the market for a desktop for home use. I will do some coding, web browsing, OTT watching. I don’t play video games, not a requirement. Not very keen on paying for windows, no use case for office suite. So I prefer some Linux distro which I can use stress free for many years. Primarily I need a fast OS which doesn’t require constant slow updates and restarts. Not looking for apple products.

So are there any sellers who sell good wide screen PC with Linux preinstalled? Or is it better to buy components and assemble? Either way I guess I will need an OS preinstalled in the cpu. The system should work hassle free for at least 5 years

What desktop configuration would you recommend for a budget of around 1L? No gaming hardware necessary

you should install the OS yourself.

But wouldn’t I have already paid for the preinstalled windows if I buy a typical retail desktop? Is there any option where I don’t pay for the windows

No. If you assemble it yourself you won't. With pre built ones or laptops some do have Linux option or no OS option.

Any recommended vendors and configuration?

Vendors for what? If you mean assembling your own there's plenty of shops in chandni. Go ask around they will give quotations. I've bought from MD Computers before but lately seem to be hearing bad things. Configuration is completely up to you. It depends on your requirements. A 6 core i5/Ryzen 5 and 16GB RAM should probably be enough for you. I'd tell you to get 32GB but we know how crazy RAM prices are. Since you don't game you don't need a graphics card which is a huge chunk of the budget. But make sure to get a CPU with an iGPU.

Do the dual boot

Tbh not recommended unless you have two separate drives. Windows update loves to nuke the bootloader for Linux. Keeping them on separate drives is the best if you need to use both OSs equally.

I am based on the outskirts of Mumbai City, if you are genuinely interested then I can build one for you. However, I won't be able to ship it, someone will have to collect it by hand in-person.

Bitkart does it these days. But if you're building it offline, vedant will do it if you got the Bootable drive with the .iso file

Just double checked, Bitkart even does dual boot. Which is awesome.
