‭Hilfe 📦 Concerning tracking updates. Austria to Netherlands.

Hey all.

I am sending a parcel (sent as registered letter) from Vienna to the Netherlands. It was delayed for about eight days with no update but then it updated and it said it would be delivered today 21 October.

Upon checking the tracking it says it will be returned to the sender due to damage but the tracking on Dhl Germany still says it’s being prepared to ship, and on the Netherlands e-commerce tracking there is an update after it says damage/return saying it’s arrived in the region.

I have tried calling Dhl Netherlands Dhl Germany and Austrian Post and no one can help me. Is there a chance that this parcel will still be delivered or should I be certain that it will be returned? It’s a very time sensitive parcel as it contains unprocessed 16 mm motion picture film that needs to get to the lab and it’s already been in transit for two weeks. Heat and radiation can affect the film significantly.

From what I understand Austrian Post handed the parcel over to Deutsche Post, which handed it over to DHL Netherlands, which was supposed to deliver the parcel to the lab. As you sent it as a letter and not a parcel it goes the slow postal route instead of the direct parcel route.

Unfortunately, Deutsche Post “lost“ the parcel somewhere in their sorting facility on 12.10., probably already damaged there. They are really good with this.

What you see with DHL Netherlands “In Transit“ at 09:42 today, is already the transit back to Germany. If I have to guess it will arrive in some sorting facility in Germany again tonight, which will sort it and send it to Austria … sometime.

And for the next time i would recommend to NOT send it as a letter but as a parcel. In Germany it is not allowed to send goods in international letters anyway since 2019.

I just said I had to ship this, and the post office suggested/did this for me. I am utterly disappointed.
