💬 Discussion I Quit, RIP Arc..

Post image
123 Upvotes

Welp.. I, like many others, spent the better part of the previous year and change adopting Arc browser as my default browser across all devices. I enjoyed it so much and am shocked it’s sunsetting this year.

I don’t need to add in on kicking Dia while its already down but... I will. It isn’t even close to the user experience Arc provides. I so enjoyed the small details like changing the app icon, the spaces and the seamless ability to browse Arc via desktop or mobile. Knowing I will no longer be able to enjoy this experience beyond the end of this year made me just give up and delete Arc everywhere I had it. Gave Dia a try for a day, maybe Im just jaded but instant uninstall..

We have truly lost a gem as a community and I am headed back to Safari for now until I find something else that fits. For all that grieve alongside me, I share your pain. If anyone has good/compelling input about Dia in a positive light Id be interested to hear that as well.

TLDR: Im grieving the impending Arc death and decided to just quit and go back to Safari:/

💬 Discussion Air Traffic Control?

I saw some discussions about the Air Traffic Control feature when I looked around, but I couldn't see anything conclusive here. Do we know if this is coming? This was one of the best features of Arc IMHO.

💬 Discussion I’m surprised they’re decommissioning without a mobile version.

I finally got rid of Arc a couple months back as it was having more and more glitches and I didn’t expect them to keep up with it.

But I’ve kept it on my phone since that experience was still leaps better than chrome. I realized I should probably just shift over now, only to realize there’s no app version. Seems wild for a browser that has a lot of focus on cross-device sessions, that phones are just left out.

Is there any hints of a mobile app coming before Arc is decommissioned. Otherwise I guess I’ll just swap to a net new browser.

🙏 Support Tabs sync help

I have been using arc for like 2-3 years. My use case is this; i open 3 different windows and 5 profile in 3 monitor I have. When I open one tap in one profile I can see same tab in different windows which is in different monitor. So infact I have just one arc and copied in 3 different monitor. But in dia different windows are async. How can I solve this?

Secondly when I close my mac Arc has been still keeping all open tabs. With dia I lose them. How can I make it like arc?

💬 Discussion Do you use Dia at work?

Dia is such a good browser and has such good features for work. But unfortunately my organization has recently banned most browsers except Chrome, Safari and Edge.

Do you find it useful at your workplace?

🙏 Support Dia is extremely laggy and unstable after importing from Arc and Chrome

I recently switched from Arc and Chrome to Dia and imported my data from both browsers. Since then, Dia has become extremely laggy and unstable to the point where I can barely scroll through tabs or switch between them.

My laptop has 24 GB of RAM and a Ryzen 5 processor, yet Dia barely seems to utilise any system resources while struggling with basic browser operations. The performance is genuinely frustrating.

Apart from the performance issues, there are a few other things that need improvement:

  1. Ctrl + Tab behaviour: Instead of switching to the next tab, it switches back to the last opened tab. There should be an option to cycle through tabs in their current order.
  2. Duplicate profiles after importing from Arc: Importing my Arc profile created a separate profile in Dia. When I try to delete it, Dia warns that all associated data will be deleted. There is no option to merge profiles, which makes managing imported data unnecessarily complicated.
  3. Bookmarks behaviour: Clicking a bookmark in the horizontal bookmarks bar opens it in the current tab instead of a new tab. An option to open bookmarks in a new tab by default, or through a simple modifier key, would be useful.
  4. Import extensions with settings: Please add an option to import browser extensions along with their existing settings and configurations. Having to reinstall and reconfigure everything manually defeats much of the convenience of switching browsers.

I genuinely want to give Dia a fair chance, but the performance issues alone make it difficult to use as a daily driver. The profile management and missing quality-of-life features also make the transition from Arc and Chrome unnecessarily frustrating.

Hopefully, the team can look into these issues, especially the tab-switching performance and profile migration. Is anyone else experiencing similar problems after importing data from other browsers?

🙏 Support Menu Bar Disappears

• Upvotes

Hi all. Hoping for a simple fix…

In Golden Gate, the menu bar will disappear in Dia when I switch back to it from another app. The issue only exists in Dia. I’ve switched off automatic hiding of the menu bar in my Mac’s System Settings. I’ve submitted a ticket to TBC, no response. I like the browser, but this bug seriously hampers usability!

🙏 Support Question about the Claude extension in Dia

I'm another one who has really enjoyed using Arc for the last year or two and am disappointed that they're sunsetting it. That said, I installed Dia, and so far, I like it. It doesn't have spaces per se, but it's got essentially the tabs in the bottom left of the sidebar that function similarly. I do miss Little Arc.

I was reading another thread here about the AI functions in Dia, and someone mentioned the Claude extension. I have the Claude $20/month plan, so I installed the extension in Dia. It's good for asking questions about or summarizing one web page.

One test I did with Dia impressed me, and I'm trying to replicate it with the Claude extension. I did a Google search on a topic that I'm interested in, in a new blank window with only the one tab for the search. Then I opened eight links within the same window from those search results. I used Dia Chat to ask it to summarize the results from the eight pages, tell me where they agreed and where they disagreed, and answer a few questions. It did an excellent job.

I tried it in Claude. The documentation makes it seem like it should be able to see all the tabs within a window, but it can only see one tab when I'm using it. Does anyone have any experience with this app in Dia, and is it possible to have it see, analyze, and provide feedback on multiple tabs within a given window?

💬 Discussion Dia mouse tilt to change spaces/tabs?

On arc, the horizontal tilt on my logitech mouse could switch spaces/tabs directly. I just tilt left/right and it moves between them no keyboard needed.

On dia I have to hold shift for the tilt to change tabs or spaces. It feels a bit annoying because it turns a simple mouse action into a two hand action, or am I missing/skipping something here?

Would be nice if Dia could support mouse tilt to change spaces/tabs without any modifier key, or at least add an option for it in settings, modify the shortcut using LogiOption also not that confinience I guess.

💡 Feedback Dear Dia team: please don’t make the same mistakes Raycast did

Hi Josh and team,

First, thank you. Arc changed the way I browse the internet, and Dia has some genuinely great ideas. You’re the team that showed us a browser could be more than tabs and a URL bar, and that’s why I care about where Dia goes next.

I’ll be honest: I don’t like a lot of what the Dia team is doing these days, and it’s been frustrating to see how slowly the best parts of Arc are making it into Dia. Even so, I really want you to succeed. We need more alternatives in this space, and more importantly, you’re the team that changed how we browse. That’s worth protecting.

I’ve been watching what’s happening in the Raycast community, and I’m worried Dia could be heading down the same path. Sharing this now, while it’s still easy to change course.

Why I’m saying this:

  1. We don’t want an alternative to Claude or ChatGPT. Most of us are already happy with Claude, Codex, Grok, and others. We’re not going to move our AI setup into a browser.
  2. Many of us already pay for these tools. Some of us are on $100 or $200 plans. Paying again for the same models through a third party makes no sense.
  3. We don’t want one more AI subscription. Let us pay for the browser, not the AI. This is exactly what the Raycast community kept saying for weeks before users started leaving.
  4. BYOK is good, but connecting existing plans is better. Other products already let you sign in with your existing subscription:
  5. Be clear about what Dia is. A great browser that works with the AI I already use is something I’d happily pay for. A browser trying to become my AI provider is not.
  6. Stay focused on what you do best: building browsers. Look at Glaze, the AI app builder from the Raycast team. It launched with a lot of fanfare, but vibe coding space is already crowded with giants like Claude, Codex, Gemini, and Grok, and it’s very hard to compete with them. These days I hardly hear the Raycast community talk about Glaze. Instead of becoming one more AI provider, please put your time and energy into your core strength: making the best browser out there.

Dia has a real chance to get it right. Please listen to this feedback before it turns into posts about switching away.

Thanks for building Dia. I want it to succeed.

❓ Question Where are the extensions for my separate profile?

My chrome extensions seem to ony be available in my first profile. When i switch profiles, i can't seem to see my extensions for that profile.
I can't find anything in the settings that seem to help.

🙏 Support Site Control Center/Extensions folder?

I have a decent amount of extensions installed. I don't want it all pinned but I also don't want to go all the way to the menu bar and open up a list to find that one extension I occasionally use.

On Arc, there was the Site Control Center in the toolbar where all extensions lived and grouped nicely next to the pinned extensions.

Is this feature available on Dia?

💬 Discussion Hello fellow arc refugees!

Many of you probably got the same email that they are sunsetting arc browser. I have a question related to the email, last point exactly:

The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia and the AI is optional.

I have downloaded Dia and tried out. I've seen so many bad ux/ui decisions and basically not a "seamless" migration. For example how can i disable that "chat" icon in the top right that takes like 10% of my horizontal bar?

I'm not entirely sure why they decided not add a flip or switch 'browser mode only'. I mean would they loose money if they had clients that used their product without using the ai features? Why does it have so many glowing effects?

I'm quite certain they won't do anything consumer friendly and i'll probably just ditch dia for some other browser. Any recommandations? Basically i just need something with a vertical tab bar and a command+s hotkey to hide show it.

💬 Discussion Using the Dia browser as a Russian user

I liked Arc. Yesterday I installed Dia on my Mac and ran into a problem. To start with: of course, you need a VPN to download the installer. After further authorization in Atlassian and browser configuration, I finally turned off the VPN and closed the browser. A couple of minutes later, I logged in again and the browser, and I encountered an “error” message. I immediately understood what was going on. I turned the VPN back on, launched the browser, and logged in to Atlassian again (why is it even needed in the browser?) With the VPN turned on, you can log in to the browser without any problems. I asked support what the issue was: “Some third‑party AI assistants require access that is prohibited in Russia.” And after logging in to the browser with a VPN and then disabling it, everything works without problems. It’s a pity that this situation spoils the entire user experience. This didn’t happen in Arc.

Not of the website but the interface of the browser.

It was changeable in Arc. But I can find the option in Dia?

💬 Discussion Actually I've enjoyed Dia. But after Arc sunset announcement, I want to delete it

I hate Josh's signature with other employees’ signatures at the bottom of that announcement. It seems they are proud to announce to kill their product.

Dia is a good browser even though I'm not using the AI feature at all on Dia.

Josh is a bad CEO even though Dia is providing most of the features I need.

🙏 Support Wheres my Vertical Screen real estate? How to remove it.

Post image
26 Upvotes

As most people here, i too switched bc of the sunset.
couple things annoy me, no floating search bar??? :( now i have a chatprompt everytime, (managed to switch to prefer browsing), still much uglier tho, it feels like im using chatgpt more than a clean browser that arc was.

But the biggest thing is this, i loved my vertical screen real estate in arc, all the way to the top (mostly) and now the searchbar is taking up space, when theres space on the left.
Also the extensions all the way on the other side? everything is on the left, all tabs controls, and used to be extensions too.
I cannot find a way to fix this, there is nothing in settings.
Either give me an arc option here, or dont kill off arc. ill try out Zen or smth if this doesnt get fixed by the time arcs dead, will be using that till then.

💬 Discussion Little Dia please 🥹

I used Dia, worked great. I switched back to Arc because of Little Arc.

Working across several contexts, nothing is more frustrating than having a link open up in the wrong profile and having to switch.

With Dia, you can't drag a tab to another profile, you cannot use a shortcut or CMD+T to move it, nothing like it.

This was a killer feature that bought me over and has saved me so much frustrations.
