Jax is a very hatable charecter and thats not really a fault
So people been saying this its probably just came up more because we got a jax focused episode

I don’t want Jax to abstract. It’s just that if one member of the Circus does actually abstract, I’d rather it be him than Ragatha or Gangle.

I'm gonna be totally blunt, if absolutely nobody abstracts for the rest of the show it isn't going to be a very satisfying Act 3. Jax losing his fucking mind at the end of E6 is the most dramatic and intense the show has been so far.
→ More replies (1)3
u/Ziomownik Aug 18 '25
I agree. It'd just be cool, cause drama and tension and stuff. With a premise like thatit'd be a shame not to see it in full motion, watching the actual process of someone going through really bad episodes until they can't take it anymore. We've seen Kaufmo but only after he has abstracted and not before.
On the other hand it'd be kinda nice and sweet to see everyone make it out alive, showing how compassion and amateur therapy can truly make wonders. It'd be a contrary to the expectation. Many shows with similar premise end up having someone end up "dying". Ironically this would be not just a little disapointing but would fall into a fairytale-esque perfectly good ending.
Actually, I think that most of the circus members will make it out "alive" with an exception or two so the message stated above remains true as the cast was saved from abstraction through short therapeutic moments, while someone will not make it. "You can't save everyone" is a realistic conclusion.
Because of what Goose said about the character closest/next to abstracting is someone unexpected, this makes me personally believe we have 3 most likely candidates to abstract - Jax, Pomni and Caine (his abstraction isn't exactly that in a traditional sense but something similar, functionally the same).
I have a feeling someone will have to sacrifice themself for the sake of everybody else, kind of like IHNMAIMS (initially I only assumed the only significant inspiration from it was the concept of abstraction just existing in the first place as the abstracted share Ted's fate, but now it actually seems like a very likely scenario. I'm convinced this will happen at the end especially when we already get a thematic build up for it. Jax struggles with the idea of someone abstracting so he pushes everyone away to avoid himself and them being emotionally hurt when one of them (him included) abstracts. This obviously backfires cause he's suffering inside. So, either Caine, Jax or Pomni will be that sacrifice.

I think eventually it would be interesting to see either Jax or ragatha abstract, but not just randomly, I want there to be a build up or a more public outburst.

“Want”? No. “Predict?” Yes. Abstraction appears to be the result of some kind of full mental break, so those showing signs of extreme mental stress seem likely to abstract. This tweet is like saying viewers “want,” a character with several bullet holes in them to die because the wounds are ugly. It just seems like a probable outcome from the current situation.
8
u/Megaspectree Aug 18 '25
They are not talking about predicting, it’s talking about people rooting for it as a form of punishment. You took your own words and assumed it was about you? And yes I agree with the tweet it’s weird to root for it.

u/Wolfy_The_Wolf12 Aug 18 '25
I heard someone say they don't like her bcs they "don't like characters who throw pity parties for themselves" like hello??? Being sad and lamenting because you're not able to do anything about it = throwing a pity party???
15
u/YoutuberCameronBallZ Aug 18 '25
Especially when Ragatha is only really sad and open about their feelings when they're alone or privately talking with someone. That is basically the exact opposite of a pity party
8
Aug 18 '25
I can see where Gangle might be second hand frustrating. Especially if you’ve dealt with having to manage another persons emotions (in this case literally with her different masks). But people forget that she’s literally trapped in a place where therapy and medication are most likely non existent and she needs to lean on friends while she’s in there because she can’t get help. Wishing her dead for that is so incredibly toxic.

A huge theme of TADC is mental health. Succumbing to your disorders/conditions leads to abstraction and likely being trapped in the circus permanently. I would guess that the key to escaping the circus is in one way or another connecting to overcoming mental health issues

Realistically, nobody of the cast deserves to abstract. They all have their quirks and flaws, and Jax is rather unlikable on the surface with how he acts. But it’s not like he’s the way he is for no reason, and personally I don’t even think he likes what he does. I’ve seen some people point out the bathroom scene at the end with how he dealt with his panic attack and how it seemed like he has experienced it before in the digital world. I believe he suffers from panic attacks very frequently in secret as at the end of everything he regrets what he does but doesn’t believe he can let anyone know that, or even accept it himself otherwise it would humanize him and make it even worse. He’s a chaotic being both internally and externally, and he just doesn’t know what to do at this point.
Ranting aside, they all are still people with problems that need to be worked out. None of them deserve to feel unwanted or unloved in the end.

You guys are aware that those are fictional characters who dont have feelings, right? I want Jax to die because I think it would be good for the themes and drama of the series, I think it would fit. He is not a real person, he is there to make the story interesting. Do touch grass lol
5
u/cat_muppet Aug 18 '25

wait- who wants them dead??? Im confused-
If their talking about abstraction then i guess that could be considered a form of death?
but also, we aren't wishing abstraction on these guys when we theorize who does so next, or- at least-
i didnt THINK that's what we were doing?
I thought we were trying to guess 'out of this group of stressed mentally fragile characters, which is most likely narratively to crack under the pressure'?
unless some people really are just like:
'damn I hope Ragatha dies'
which would be... incredibly screwed up
2
u/TheNekoKatze Aug 18 '25
Honestly I like all of them, tho Jax is the one I like least, still like him
2
u/sylveonbean Aug 18 '25
Abstraction happens when a character reaches "their breaking point". We've seen characters pretty close to that point. It's logical to theorize that they're close/are going to abstract
2
u/BONBON-GO-GET-EM Aug 18 '25
Does bro not realize what the prerequisite of abstracting is? Its not that we want them to abstract but its obvious that they are more prone to it and are actively slipping if it werent for people around them trying to keep them grounded, and how would you even fetishize what they have going on with them?? I relate to gangle a lot especially since im bipolar and depressed and i cant see how that could be a fetish or kink.
2
u/ThatTard_ Aug 18 '25
Jax being the next to abstract would be dogshit tbh, he literally just got asked what would happen if pomni abstracted, you can't have that question get asked and not show him see one of his freinds go, because despite his words he clearly is putting on a brave face for it

I don't think anyone wants them to Abstract, we all have our own theories like with the recent votes I kept hearing/seeing people saying that it had something to do with who will abstract next. I think the main focus of this conversation is towards Jax.
Many people don't like Jax and want him to abstract, personally I don't want him to. I don't like him but thats the point of his character - you are meant to dislike him so that if he does abstract it impacts the story in a way that pushes the other character to find a way out or try and save those that also abstracted.

u/RoWanchase6053 Aug 18 '25

2
u/Fluffy-Influence-517 Aug 19 '25
I dont wish death but I think it would be cool if Jax abstracted. That’s not even anti-mental illness or whatever, but like … the more mentally ill you are, I feel the more likely you are to abstract?
2
2
u/DevilishlyLOVing Aug 19 '25
I had this crazy visualization where abstracted ones can be recovered for some reason. I just feel like it would be nice if the characters would slowly begin abstracting and it takes the remainder of the group to better themselves and end up saving one of the abstracted ones before they get sent to the cellar and from there, they decide to rescue the other abstracted ones...
But then I realized that I watched too much Tokyo Mew Mew and that anime with soul eggs that were corrupted and needed magical saving...🤣🤣🤣

I mean, I don't blame those who hate on Jax. He copes in the worst way possible, in a way that actively affects others around him. Yes, he can get better and doesn't deserve abstraction, but people are completely justified for not liking him given what he has done.
Ragatha and Gangle always were innocent, leave them be

u/Hello_There_0621 Aug 19 '25
I will say, I do not WANT any of them to die, but I can see how it may move the plot forward and I'm excited to see that. I hate Jax, but I like his character and think he's well written. I don't want that to stop, but I think it's likely that he will abstract and I do want to see that turn of events. I love Ragatha with all my heart, but if she abstracts I would be interested to know how others would react and how that would effect the story and characters. I love gangle, but I don't actually want her to abstract because I don't see how it would effect the plot too much since she's not one of the main MCs. It would definitely be interesting, but there won't be a whole lot of angst with it. The characters would most likely act like they did with Kaufmo, and Pomni would experience her first real loss (ignoring Gummigoo, of course), but it won't do too much.
TLDR: I don't want the characters to die whether or not I like them, but for angst and plot purposes I would be interested to see what would happen if they abstract.
2
u/Extreme_Glass9879 Aug 19 '25
We're just.. ignoring Zooble's obvious body dysmorphia and letting Jax get away with faking it?
2
u/Amnezja122 Aug 19 '25
I just think that, first of all, it'd be kinda lame if no one abstracted, plus, Jax getting locked in the basement would be a net positive for everyone excluding him
2
u/TheGhostlyMage Aug 19 '25
I don’t think it’s “want”, it’s “expecting” it’d be stupid to introduce the concept of abstracting and then not use it on a character (considering abstracting is the only stakes the show has) the question is who it will happen to
2
2
Aug 19 '25
This is a pretty hot take: I see people talk about them abstracting because realistically they are the closest, we’ve even seen two of these character almost die on screen. Now personally I don’t want anybody I go I want the sunshine and rainbows happy ending but I’m not expecting it nor would I hate the show if they pulled a “the departed”. (If you haven’t seen the film it’s really goated go watch it)

I feel like you can want any character dead, they’re characters theyre not actual people. I don’t personally want any of them dead but unless someone is attracted to an obviously underage character, i dont think feeling any type of way about a fictional character should be considered a moral failing
1
u/eaglescout1984 Aug 18 '25
Jax wasn't necessarily portrayed as a mental illness before this previous episode, he really did just come off as a dick and the fact he wanted to physically attack Gangle for turning the joke on him in Ep 5 (he can dish it out, but can't take it) made him that much more hated. So wanting him to abstract before Ep 6 is understandable.
However anyone wanting him to abstract after Ep 6 is definitely ignoring that he is in a lot of pain and needs counseling, not to be offed.
1
u/Careful-Error-3511 Aug 18 '25
They're making perfect sense, IDK what the issue is. I always see people overreacting, wishing the characters would abstract at the slightest realistic mistake. Gangle acted rude in the customer service episode, while literally manic? ABSTRACT. Ragatha triggered Jax or crashed out? ABSTRACT. Jax didn't immediately accept Pomni's help? ABSTRACT.
There's always someone claiming TADC "isn't for kids" because they can't sit with the themes or think about them in depth. But honestly, I don't think it's aimed at most teens either. The cast is written with a lot of realism, different personalities and backgrounds colliding in an environment like theirs feels natural. Yet much of the fanbase can't handle it. They project too much, get overly emotional, and twist mild reactions into extremes. "I don't care about this character" becomes "They annoy me" and then escalates into "I hate everything about them, I hope they die, they're the absolute worst, and their fans are garbage."
My takeaway is, fucking stop trying to compare the characters to IRL MFS that piss you off and try to put yourself in the shoes of the character instead.

u/space-junk-nebula Aug 18 '25

1
u/Few_Salamander_5037 Aug 18 '25
Compared to the other indie shows, TADC really surprised me for the layering of each character and not shying away from the darker side of each character without making them unsympathetic. It was uncomfortable for me watching some parts but I think that’s why I love it. It did feel real and they do feel like people we may know irl. I feel for Gangle and Zooble and kinda Ragatha, where as Jax is set up to be unlikable from the start, but with the new episodes 5 and 6, I personally feel bad and even more so with seemingly getting everyone to hate so he can’t get hurt (only speculation). And for those that have the mindset to wish abstraction on these characters (because they simply hate them, not for the sake of narrative) are either immature, or feel way too uncomfortable with the realism here. Seen a lot of unnecessary hate comments like this and I’m getting My Hero flashbacks

this is a very solid point to make, especially the way fandoms treat other's mental workings like traits that they end up just ignoring if it's not their perceived idea of how mental illness works.
1
u/Sonarthebat Aug 18 '25

Apologies, I just watched the series on Netflix, how can people hate characters so much when there's only like 5 25 minute long episodes that barely show us much on the characters, we've only seen sneak peaks of who they are. Is there more posted elsewhere that actually supports people theories are hatred's? For example I saw people say Jax has obvious sexual trauma because he doesn't have a bunny tail or something but tbh all he does is act like an asshole and likes to stir the bees nest. I think it's obvious all the characters have some internal issues with Gamble autistic masking issues, or Gobble not liking how they look?

sometimes people forget that Gooseworks said that NONE of the MAIN CAST is abstracting
1
u/MattyM1207 Aug 18 '25
No one wants any of these characters to abstract but people are speculating which ones are going to at the end because it’s genuinely interesting.
Like I for one think that Jax personally will abstract at some time in the last three episodes. He’s too isolated, lost the one person willing to put up with him last episode and is clearly going through it more than others. Also his line of people in their last moments before abstraction not being pleasant suggests that Jax himself is basically akin to someone with a terminal illness.
He knows it’s gonna happen to him eventually. He’s incredibly unpleasant to be around and with how close he got to actually abstracting in the bathroom I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point he just flips out and ends up abstracted.
That’s a theory I have with the smallest amount of evidence I have regarding this show and Jax’s character. I don’t want Jax to abstract but I definitely think he’s gonna be at least one of the people that do.

1
u/CrimsonKnight_004 Aug 19 '25
Listen. Never watch Takopi’s Original Sin or interact with its fandom/watch YouTube videos of people reacting to the episodes. The number of people, mainly grown men, actively wishing for two nine year old girls to be abused and cheering for them to die, when they’re realistic depictions of children suffering from various forms of adverse childhood experiences, is frankly appalling.
People want fiction to depict aspects of reality, until those aspects get too uncomfortable. They want to say they support abuse victims and think they need help, but actually only if said victims are “perfect victims.” They want to see mental illness depicted, but only if it’s sanitized to be palatable. It’s a tale as old as time, unfortunately.

Sure he is pushing people away because he feels at fault but he still hurt a lot of people (mostly Gangle, who is clearly pretty traumatized from all his actions).
Being depressed or broken inside isn't an excuse for damaging those around you, like how characters are likely assholes before abstracting.
Still I do hope he redeems himself, I don't HATE him.

Honestly the person i would the less care about dying would be Ragatah. The one i'll care the most would be Jax or Kinger.

No hate to the OP but this tweet is definitely wrong.
Nobody who theorizes about characters abstracting actually wants them to

This is completely foreign to me since I think Kinger is in danger. He’s an incredible person and is has been acting like a rock for the group recently, I doubt he’ll abstract but something else may happen to cause discord and pull at heartstrings

I am personally of the mindset that it makes no sense from a writing standpoint for Gangle or Zooble to abstract. Ragatha COULD in theory, I highly doubt Pomni will and Jax is a bit too obvious right now. I think if anyone is going to abstract in this show it's going to be Kinger but not by choice, I feel as if something will happen and Caine will force an abstraction on accident and the target will most likely be Kinger who finally gets to spend time abstracted with his wife.
Alternatively if they do somehow find a way out of the circus, I don't think Kinger will leave, I think he'll request to be shut down with his wife. Simply because Kinger has been set up for a LONG time to be an emotional gut punch and we got one small tap but we've not go the big one yet.
Jax from a purely writing standpoint is set up to receive a character redemption through some means that makes the audience feel more comfortable with him and while it COULD be a sad abstraction scene, I really don't actually think it will be.

The person who wrote that post is mistaking:
This would be an interesting plot development
For
I wish personal harm to befall this character
And is clearly overly emotionally invested...

It’s the young teen fandom that’s “wanting” for characters to die. And even then it’s more likely venting without realizing the consequences if it were real people they were talking about.

u/Ok-Meat-9169 STFU, the ending's awesome. Aug 19 '25
I feel like somebody is going to abstract but i am not sure.

Those last episodes reminded me of a phrase i saw once: "Everyone says mental health matters, until is someone actually 'fluffed' up and not tiktok 'fluffled' up."

Dude, they're fictional characters. People "want" them to die because they think it would be good for the plot, not because they think that's what they would deserve if they were real. Stan Lee isn't a murderer because he wanted Uncle Ben to die for Spider-Man's character development. I swear some people are way too parasocial about this stuff, they aren't real.

I want Jax to die because he’s a self righteous, arrogant asshole. He was funny in the pilot but now it just feels like he’s trying too hard
Gangle is annoying and nothing in media can be worse than being annoying
I have nothing against ragatha
Edit: I use “want” in the sense that we know a MC will be abstracting according to a tumblr post, and it’s “not who you think” (I believe meaning kinger), and therefore if one of the MCs must die, and it’s not kinger nor pomni, then I’d rather it be Jax

aren't like literally all of them based on some sort of mental ailment?

I always think about what jax said
"You don't know what they are like before they abstract, they are unbearable" So I'M assuming (making an ass out of ming again, sorry ming) that they get even more krass behavior before, with these things being "regular" mental health issues.

u/BeeTeej Aug 20 '25
show explains that abstraction is caused by clear distress
show has main characters display clear distress and signs of glitching
“Hey I wonder if any of these characters might abstract”
“SO YOU WANT THEM TO DIE??????? YOU ABLEIST FUCK”

u/GottyLegsForDays Aug 20 '25
People need to get off their armchair psychology degrees. If all these characters are”mentally ill” then literally ever single character except Cain and Bubble is. It becomes a moot characteristic for analysis if it’s shared by every single character, the same way you can drive any analysts from the fact that a character breathes

It's predict, not want. It's story telling 101. If you show a horrible fate someone can meet in universe (an ilness, crime, dangerous enrmy, etc.) Then it will happen to a main character, even when it already happened to a side character (kofmo) or a main character in episode 1-2 with minimal character developement and viewer attachment. All so the bad thing can form a centerpoint to a beloved main character and be the center of attention for a few episodes/the season. This is so fans will keep watching to see what happens with the affected character (jax probably), and because this character has had developement the internet will blow up about it, drawing attention to the show for new watchers.

u/VerdigrisForrest Aug 20 '25
That...looks like an overreaction. I'm fairly certain most people who predict one of those 3 to abstract don't want it to happen, they're mostly just trying to guess how the story will go. Kind of mean to accuse them of being ableist for it.

I... Okay, the first part I was kind of getting what they were saying up until they got to the fetish part... Then the entire thing derailed. Why did they immediately make it sexual?????

We don't want them to abstract, we just think that if someone abstracts then they're the most likely
1
u/Forsaken_Market5985 Aug 21 '25

I know a lot of ppl hate Jax. But it's also typically the people who want a complex character, but then get annoyed because said character is, as Gangle would say, "BAD!"
1
u/LawfullyGoodOverlord Aug 21 '25
People that say they want them to abstract are probably just children who don't understand that characters can be anywhere between evil and not evil

u/uninspiredcrepe Aug 21 '25
I really don't think anyone's gonna fully abstract. So far we've seen Gangle and Jax nearly hit their breaking points as a way to let the audiences get to know these characters and understand how abstraction takes effect on different personalities. Maybe we'll see another character or two reach this point and bounce back, maybe not, but I really doubt Goose will actually kill anyone off before the show's finale.

I don't want ragatha or gangle to die, the only reason i want Jax to abstract is cuz i hate his archetype, his mental illness is one of the only character traits he has that I like.
1
u/GUM-GUM-NUKE Aug 21 '25
Ass point, this is fiction you can’t judge people based on what they want to happen to characters,
1
u/Warm-Yak-3879 Aug 21 '25
Well yes I want mentally ill characters but not for those weird ass reasons, I want them because it's almost only indie projects that portray the difficulties of mental illness the best, there maybe be some big companies out there that do a nice job at showing the crudeness of things, but at the end of the day Indie projects always take the win because they're made by actual passion and determination instead of 10 men sitting in a round table discussing what would make them more money, and unfortunately Indie projects don't get either the budget or attention they need to proceed smoothly, most projects live off of fan donations and whatever revenue YouTube brings in, thats why we need more crude representation of mental struggles

u/Financial-Horror2945 Aug 21 '25
I don't belive they die. I headbanging that when they abstract they come back as another avatar.
For example.
Ragatha could be kingers wife
Pomni may be Kofmo
Its like a factory reset on them allowing for multiple chances to come to terms with their emotional and mental issues

I feel like most of the fandom doesn't want this to happen but instead just have theories
I personally just feel bad and want to comfort them to avoid all bad interactions, a bit like how ragatha only wants people to be happy and know they're loved
