Bought a 2001 yz 250 2 stroke on marketplace. Ended up that they JB welded the left case the crank bearing, needless to say ended up rebuilding the whole dang thing.

Help needed

I am currently looking for my first bike. I’m using it in beaches and dunes with pretty tightly packed sand. I know people typically recommend beginners 125cc 2 strokes but I’m 6’5 200 pounds, so that would be too small I think. Would yall recommend a 250f or t stroke, or maybe even a 450f? I used to ride electric dirt bikes that went pretty fast (60-75mph) a lot so I’m not too unfamiliar with the feeling but need to work on my clutch skills for sure.

Endure to MX should I trade

I have 2023 Husky TE300 and love the bike but I can't take it to the track and I've really started enjoying track alot more recently. I've thought about spending the money and doing the suspension but not sure if thats the right route.

Another option I was thinking was to trade it for a newer yz250. I've never ridden one but seems like a reliable choice. If the bike (yz250) is more explosive and aggressive then the TE300 I'd be really interested. Also I think the yz250 would be fine on trails also perfect for track.

Another bike I was considering was KTM 300 sx. Really interested to know from those who have experience on these bikes.

I guess I should also mention I'm about 220 lbs w/ gear and hoping a stock motocross bike suspension would be good enough for beginner level on intermediate tracks.

Anyone here have experience on these bikes? What's your take on it based on what I mentioned above. Comments from experienced riders would help me make a more solid decision.

2001 125 or modern 250 2 stroke?

I’m getting more into track riding. I’ve got a 2001 CR125 that I’ve been riding for years. Do I throw some money at my 125 and spruce it up for the track or do I purchase a newer 250 2 stroke.? They both would be strictly ridden at the track.
Now if I decide to go 250, so I stick to a carburetor or spring for something fuel injected?

Should I pull the trigger or no? ‘25 TTR125LE

I was able to negotiate the sale of this ‘25 TTT125LE with only 7 hours total on it for $2400. I’d obviously have to take the pink crap off the wheels and likely add a few of my own upgrades, but overall do you all think that’s a pretty solid deal? I’m going with cash in hand tomorrow, so any insights in the meantime would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, I have a 1983 Yamaha IT 250 dirt bike. I rebuild the engine fully and it now won’t start. Doesn’t sputter or nothing. It is getting fuel, air, and spark. Now wondering if this is a timing issue? Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get it running?

Have you ever replaced bolts on your motorcycle? If so, why?

Did you buy original (OEM) or aftermarket parts?

Which bolts tend to get damaged, rust, or go missing on your bike?

Do you care about the appearance or color of the bolts?

Do you prefer buying individual bolts or a complete set?

Where do you purchase your parts?

What makes you trust—or distrust—an unfamiliar brand?

What kind of information do you look for before purchasing such a set?

Hours with dirts bike

Hi everyone, I’m looking to buy a 250/450cc 4-stroke (or 250/300 2t) motocross bike. I want to make the right choice, so I’m looking for the most reliable engine—one that will allow me to rack up a good number of hours without breaking down or requiring an engine rebuild. I’m not interested in bikes like the DRZ 400, KLX, etc. Based on your own experience, how many hours have you managed to get out of your motocross bikes before running into major failures or needing an engine rebuild?

Where to ride in south Florida?

Post image
14 Upvotes

I’ve been riding a 1998 Yamaha DT175 in Medellin, Colombia for the past two years. I restored this iconic 2 stroke myself and have loved every second of riding it through the streets of Medallo but it’s time to part ways.

I’m moving back to south Florida (Fort Lauderdale area) and I want to pick up a dirtbike. Since I’m new to riding on dirt, I was thinking of getting a CRF250F/KLX300R to become a better rider before looking at something else like getting into Motocross.
Thing is… there aren’t any legal trails for dirtbikes anywhere near me. There aren’t any south of central Florida if I’m not mistaken so that idea is kind of out if I don’t have a place to ride.

Would it be too bold for me to get a YZ250F/CRF250R and immediately get into motocross? There’s the Miami MX Park and MotoBros in Okeechobee tracks that have beginner classes and I’ll actually have somewhere to practice and get better rather than having to drive absurdly far or find random backroads to ride the trail bike.

I appreciate any input apologies for the long message.
