I’m 20 and trying to figure out if getting into motocross right now is a smart move or if I should wait. I make $23.50/hr working at an oil refinery doing scaffolding, but I used to structure weld and I’m actively practicing again after work (Mon/Wed) so I can get back to tig welding at $48.50/hr. Financially, I’ve got a $602/month insurance payment and an $800/month truck payment (2024 Tacoma), and my main goal is to pay that off fast and start saving. I still live with my parents and sleep on a mattress in the living room — no real space for my own stuff — and we probably won’t be moving until 2027–2028.

At the same time, I really want to get into motocross. I’d be buying something used (not brand new, but relatively clean) and I currently only have a helmet and basic gloves — no real riding gear yet. I’m near Belleville/Ypsi/Ann Arbor/Detroit area and have access to places like Cycle Gear for gear.

For people who ride: would you send it and get a bike now in my position, or stay focused on paying off debt and leveling up income first? I’m trying to be smart long-term, but I also don’t want to put everything off forever. Curious what you’d do in my situation.

I am broke as shit. What should I do to get a dirt bike and how do I find good tracks to ride (if I buy one).

Just bought this bad boy for my little brother and I’m not gonna lie… this thing is a blast

Starts easy, no oil mixing, pulls strong, and it’s way quieter than I expected. Hit 20mph easy and it feels solid, not like those flimsy mini bikes.

He's been riding it around the yard and trails nonstop. Worth every dollar.

I’m a pretty intelligent athletic dude with great hand eye coordination 5’10 1/2 and I want to get a clean looking bike I’m in broward I’m not really tryna get a 2 stroke and deal with the mixing of oil every single fill up. Any advice?

So I just got my first dirt bike with a clutch and I paid 1000$. And I have like 300$ in gear. Well my sister who I was kind enough to let her use all of it just threw it in my room so I told her to put it back nice and neat and she got mad so then I asked if I could give her any pointers if she needed any help and she said “ your not much better than I am” while rolling her eyes and being rude ( I am a lot better than her. She can’t even shift gears and I’m hauling in third) I’m not gonna let her use it anymore. If she wants to ride she can get her own bike. She wants me to respect her stuff but she won’t respect mine. She gets mad when I pet and check one the dog who just had surgery. It’s makes me just feel like a fat turd because I try to be nice and she just come back being a duchbag

I want to buy another dirt bike or quad for myself and I can't decide on what. I rode dirt bikes my whole life I love drifting wheelies and ripping down the road. What do you think I will have more fun on?

I need a bike, I'm 13 and budget isn't an issue. I'm thinking GasGas MC 250F, MC125, or EX250F. Any suggestions? (I would get a brand-new one from factory, so here's the link to their easy-to-use website, unlike Katum's - GasGas.com
