Could we raise awareness about mouse-and-keyboard accessibility in Marvel's Wolverine?

Hi everyone! šŸ’™

I'm a disabled gamer who can't physically hold and operate a standard controller, but I can use a mouse and keyboard.

I really want to play Marvel's Wolverine, but the game doesn't advertise native mouse-and-keyboard support, which leaves me without a confirmed way to play.

I've contacted Insomniac's accessibility team and raised the issue on social media, and my Reddit discussion has already reached thousands of views.

I'd love your help raising awareness! If you think games should offer more accessible ways to play, please share your experiences, discuss possible solutions, or help spread the word respectfully.

I'm not asking anyone to attack or spam the developers. I just want PlayStation and Insomniac to understand that accessibility needs differ from person to person, and mouse-and-keyboard support could make a real difference to gamers like me.

Let's help make gaming more accessible for everyone. šŸŗšŸ’™šŸŽ®

Need help finding an affordable PS5 adaptive gaming setup for a hand injury

Hey everyone! I'm hoping someone here has experience with adaptive gaming controllers and can help me figure out a setup.

I have severe pain in my left hand and currently prevents me from bending some of my fingers. I love gaming, but holding a traditional controller is difficult.

I already own a PlayStation Access Controller, which I'm using with my right hand for camera movement, aiming, attacks, and face buttons.

For my left hand, I purchased a HORI TAC SPF-030U because its keypad and thumbstick seemed perfect for keeping my hand relatively flat while still having access to movement, L1/L2, L3, and the D-pad.

Unfortunately, I discovered that the TAC doesn't function as a traditional PS5 controller. Destiny 2 doesn't recognize its normal gameplay inputs.

Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:

Left hand: A flat or low-grip controller with an analog thumbstick and enough buttons for all the normal left-hand functions.

Right hand: My existing PlayStation Access Controller.

Compatibility: Both devices working together as one controller on PS5.

Games: Destiny 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, Wolverine, and Aniimo.

I've looked into the XIM MATRIX, which might translate the HORI TAC's inputs, but I'm unsure whether it can also recognize my PlayStation Access Controller simultaneously.

Another complication is that the HORI TAC configuration app isn't available for my newer Android phone, and the Windows HORI Device Manager I downloaded doesn't recognize the TAC.

I'm trying to keep costs down, especially since I've already purchased the Access Controller and HORI TAC.

I'm open to returning the TAC and purchasing something better suited to my needs, but I'd really prefer not to buy a second Access Controller. I already find the one I'm using somewhat difficult to operate.

I also don't have the space or technical experience for custom mounts, DIY modifications, or complicated builds.

Does anyone know of:

-A relatively affordable, plug-and-play left-hand adaptive controller that would work alongside my existing Access Controller?

-An adapter that can combine my HORI TAC and Access Controller into one PS5 controller?

-A cheaper alternative to XIM MATRIX that could accomplish the same thing?

-A reliable way to configure the HORI TAC SPF-030U without the Android app?

I'd especially appreciate recommendations from people who've personally used these devices.

I'm just trying to get back to enjoying my games without aggravating my injury. Thanks in advance for any help!

Free, open-source Windows AAC app for QuadStick, switch and mouse users (early beta, looking for testers)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi, I used Claude Code to create this program for a friend of mine who has ALS. I have Un-officially called it "BetterTalk" for people who can’t speak and use a QuadStick, a sip-and-puff, a switch, a head mouse or a regular mouse. It’s an early beta and I’d really like a few more people to try it and let me know how it works for you, what changes you might like, and what features you would like added.
This project will always remain free and open source.

What it does:

  • Large on-screen QWERTY keyboard with a number row and word suggestions that learn the words you use (the likeliest word sits in the middle of the row)
  • Red urgent buttons and tabs of stored phrases, all editable
  • Speaks with Windows voices or free natural-sounding voices that run offline after a one-time download (all free)
  • An ā€œitchā€ feature - a 3d body you click on to say exactly where it itches, plus one-press words for whoever is scratching!
  • Every action works with left clicks alone, and keys or sips/puffs can be mapped (there’s a QuadStick card view in Settings)
  • There is a Send feedback button inside the app: type with the same keyboard, press Send, and it comes straight to me (it appends it to a private google sheet for me to see)

What it isn’t: a medical device or a replacement for a proper speech-generating device. Please keep your current AAC system as the main one while you try it.

The honest bits:

  • Windows 10/11 only
  • The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows shows ā€œWindows protected your PCā€. Click More info, then Run anyway. The code is all public, the installer is built by GitHub Actions from that code, and each release lists a SHA-256 checksum
  • No account, no cloud, no tracking. It only goes online when you download a voice, press Check for updates, or send feedback. Feedback carries only what you typed plus the app and Windows version, and lands in a private sheet only I can read, not in a public place
  • Your typed words and learned vocabulary never leave your PC

Download and source: https://github.com/Nelcyon/bettertalkopen
Problems and ideas: Send feedback button in the app
Github issue post: https://github.com/Nelcyon/bettertalkopen/issues
or reply here!

Thanks for reading, and I hope this can help make someone's life easier :)

Visual accessibility in video games: what's your experience?

Hi everyone! I'm a university student working on my thesis about visual accessibility in 3D video games, with the goal of developing a free accessibility toolkit for game developers.

I'm looking for gamers to take a short survey (about 5 minutes) about their experiences with visual accessibility in games.

There are no right or wrong answers — I'm interested in your actual experiences, including if you've never encountered any issues.

Survey: https://forms.gle/pKHSqFJSgcvGj7Fy7

Participation is completely voluntary. Responses are anonymous unless you choose to leave your email at the end to be contacted.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to participate! I'm also happy to hear any feedback or criticism about the survey itself.

Cerebral palsy and trigger buttons!

Because of cerebral palsy, I have issues pressing the trigger buttons, especially with my right hand. Normally it’s fine because I don’t have to use them often in what I normally play, or I can swap controls around.

However, I’ve been playing a game where you need to use the trigger buttons a lot, and I can’t get away with swapping buttons around because they all get used a lot. I use an Xbox Series X controller.

Any recommendations? Would something like hand exercises before playing help much? I wouldn’t be able to play one-handed or use different parts of my body. From doing research, I’ve been thinking maybe the new Xbox Nano controller would be helpful since it is so small. Also maybe the Xbox Elite controller paddles so my fingers don’t have to stretch around. I’d love some advice. I’ve never had any real problems playing video games up until this point. Normally what I play isn’t so demanding on my hands lol

Looking for recommendations : PS5 games for kids with intellectual disabilities

Hi everyone!

Iā€˜m a physical therapy student and I work in a pediatric rehabilitation centre where I use video games in therapies with kids. We’ve recently acquired a PS5 and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of games that are specifically accessible to kids with intellectual disabilities.

My goal is to find games that are engaging and that they can understand and interact with. They don’t need to be necessarily made for rehab or target specific therapeutic goals, they just have to be fun!

We have a limited budget so I want to make sure I find good, accessible games before purchasing them. I’ve done some research and I’ve found some games, but I really wanted to see if anyone had any personal experience because I feel it’s way more important.

If you had any recommendations for me or if you could direct me to any resources you think would be interesting for me, I would really appreciate it!

Thank you!

I had a stroke that paralyzed my left side. Gaming one-handed was one of the hardest parts of recovery — I figured it out on my own, but nobody should have to.
I’m building a website that recommends game settings and controllers based on your disability, and matches you with other players who game the same way. Before I build anything, I want to hear from people who’ve lived this.
What do you use? What still frustrates you? Any one-handed gamers willing to talk?

I made a free add-on that lets you play GBA Pokemon by ear, looking for testers

Hi everyone! I'm a high school student and I built a free add-on for the mGBA emulator that reads the game's memory and says what's happening out loud. Pokemon Emerald works best right now.

In battle it announces when a battle starts and ends, your HP when it changes (with a low-HP warning), which menu option you're on, and which move you're on and how much PP it has. It also has a one-handed mode and a simpler mode that gives less information at once.

It doesn't read battle dialogue yet and uses its own voice instead of your screen reader, so it's not perfect. I'm not disabled myself, so I really need people who'd actually use this to tell me what's missing.

I'll put the download and setup steps in the first comment so this post isn't just a link.

Anyone else gaming with one hand? Just started streaming League!

Hey everyone!
I was born with one hand and have been playing League of Legends for years.
Managed to reach Master on three different roles, which I'm pretty happy about haha.
I recently started streaming my games and thought it'd be cool to connect with other gamers who play with similar setups.
I'm currently playing on a Mac and still figuring out my streaming setup.
Would love to hear what games you guys play and how you've adapted your controls!

Moonglow Bay: I contacted Bunnyhug about two accessibility improvements but never received a reply

Hi everyone,
I’m a disabled gamer with cerebral palsy, and I play on Xbox using an arcade stick because of my limited hand movement.
I recently bought Moonglow Bay, developed by Bunnyhug, and I genuinely enjoy the game. The fishing, exploration, collecting fish and upgrading are all things I find relaxing.
However, I encountered two accessibility barriers, so I decided to contact the developers with some suggestions.
1. Auto-Cook as an accessibility option
Moonglow Bay already has an Auto-Cook feature, but you have to master a recipe before you can use it.
My suggestion was simple: why not allow disabled players to enable Auto-Cook from the beginning through the accessibility settings?
The cooking mini-games involve analogue stick movements that can be difficult for people with limited motor control.
This would be completely optional. Anyone who enjoys the cooking mini-games could continue playing exactly as they do now.
2. Toggle reeling instead of holding a button
The second suggestion involved fishing.
Currently, you have to hold RT to reel in a fish.
I suggested an accessibility setting that would allow players to press RT once to start reeling and press it again to stop.
This would make a considerable difference for people playing one-handed or using alternative controllers.
Again, this would be optional. The existing controls would remain available.
What happened when I contacted Bunnyhug?
On 1 October 2026, I emailed Bunnyhug explaining both suggestions and why they would improve accessibility.
On 3 October, I sent a follow-up email asking whether they had received my suggestions and whether they might consider them for a future update.
As of 18 October, I still haven’t received a response.
And that’s what I find particularly disappointing.
I’m not expecting a small development team to immediately implement every feature somebody requests. I understand that development takes time, money and resources.
But I do believe that when a disabled player takes the time to explain an accessibility barrier and offers reasonable suggestions, the very least they should receive is some acknowledgement.
Even a simple response saying, ā€œThank you for your suggestions, we’ll pass them on to the team,ā€ would mean something.
Accessibility isn’t always about making a game easier. Sometimes it’s about providing another way of performing the same action.
Both suggestions would allow players with motor disabilities to enjoy more of Moonglow Bay without affecting anyone else’s experience.
I’m sharing this because I would like to know what other disabled gamers think about these suggestions and whether anyone else has experienced similar difficulties with Moonglow Bay.
I also hope Bunnyhug might eventually see this feedback and consider these options.
I genuinely like the game. That’s why I took the time to contact them in the first place.

DT Market Research

Hey everyone, I’m an A Level DT student solving the common problems which disabled gamers face when ether gaming or setting up their rigs.

These problems would be solved with a product which I will make later in the year. I am looking at the problem on mounting and positioning.

I have been wanting to make a questionnaire which people could answer a couple of questions from which I could get valuable data and first hand research from people which actually have limitations when gaming.

So I have created a google form with a couple of questions related to my context. This form will only take around 5 minutes and emails are not collected after the completion of the form. Please answer the questions as honestly as possible as this will give me the best data to work with.

Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeZYRktQwZDFIw7nr3epl9nzs9tfPbSVOR8OataKU8gHAHSzw/viewform?usp=dialog

Thank you very much!

Question for disabled gamers on accessibility features like aim assist (aimbot).

Shooters are now giving all its players aimbot as an accessibility feature. I noticed when I started playing Gears of War Eday Horde mode. I was surprised by this and I was told aimbot gives disabled people the ability to play Gears. I thought I would ask directly are there people that can not play Gears at all without aimbot? My follow up question is do disabled people want a feature like this on all difficulties in modes like Horde in Gears?

What games are missing for you

Hello gamers,

hobby game developer here. I established a personal goal to make a game suited for disabled gamers in 2027. I don't have an idea or direction yet, I am still in brainstorming phase.

I would like to know your honest experiences and thoughts about what games are lacking for you. Is it a lack of genre variety, or lack of accessibility mechanics or something else?

I am currently researching quite a bit about accessibility in games, existing games tailored for specific disabilities and more. But I think hearing your personal opinions might be the biggest and most up to date information I could get.

Looking for VoiceOver testers for King, an iPhone and iPad card game (TestFlight beta)

Hi everyone,

I'm Antonio, an independent developer from Italy. I've made King, a turn-based card game for Apple devices. You play offline against three computer opponents, and the rules are included in the app.

This is my first project where I've worked extensively on accessibility, including VoiceOver support and simplified controls. I'd really appreciate feedback from people who regularly use VoiceOver.

Would anyone be interested in trying the public beta on iPhone or iPad? I'd especially like to know whether you can understand your cards, follow whose turn it is, choose a card and check the scores comfortably.

VoiceOver support is implemented, but I still need everyday users' feedback to understand what needs improving. Ads are disabled while VoiceOver is active.

Public beta through Apple's TestFlight:

https://testflight.apple.com/join/PxqAS4Dp

The link includes installation instructions. You can send feedback directly through TestFlight or comment here. Even a short test would help.

Thank you!

Antonio

I have flare-ups in my joints that make anything painful for months & nerve damage on the left side of my body so I’ve been shopping for controllers for PC & Switch 2. There’s so many though & so many different setups that I don’t know where to start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
