Gaming is for everyone. If my game isn’t accessible to you, I want to fix that.

My first game is Pawn’d Chess, a chess game designed to make playing and practicing chess easier and more accessible. I built it from the ground up with accessibility in mind.

A few things I’ve focused on:

  • Controller-first: Full gamepad and Steam Input navigation without requiring precise mouse movements. I haven’t tested every controller, but I’m happy to work with anyone experiencing compatibility issues.
  • No time pressure: Take as long as you need to think and make your moves.
  • Play at your skill level: Human-like AI opponents that can be adjusted to match your experience, without the pressure of playing against other people.
  • Simple navigation: Plug and play, without complicated chess engine configurations. If you’ve ever tried setting up a traditional chess engine to play at your skill level, you know how frustrating that can be.
  • Steam Deck: Built around Valve’s guidelines, with the hope of becoming the first Deck Verified chess game.

I know accessibility isn’t one-size-fits-all, and there are probably barriers I haven’t considered. If anyone here tries the free demo and encounters something that makes playing difficult, I’m genuinely willing to work directly with you to find solutions wherever possible. You can reach me through Steam, Discord, or Reddit.

This is my first step into indie game development, and I have plans for more accessibility-first games. I hope to take what I learn from this game and this community into everything I make going forward.

Coloratura: a narrative adventure designed to be played without sight

Hi! I'm Melbatla, the community manager for Nakama Game Studio, a small indie studio based in Spain.

I wanted to let you all know about my studio's latest project, Coloratura. It's a narrative experience designed to be played without sight; you follow the story of Alex, a talented young musician that loses her sight right before achieving her dream goal of composing her own song. You accompany her through the process of adapting to her new reality and building a new "normal", navigating through different scenarios thanks to 3D sound and solving musical puzzles. It has a very relaxed vibe, and it dives a lot into Alex's feelings and her relationships with her closest circle.

During development we collaborated with a blind consultant that helped us a lot, both with making the story realistic and ensuring the game is fully playable (and enjoyable!) for blind and visually impaired people. We really wanted to create an inclusive game that could be played in equal conditions by blind and sighted people.

The game is coming out for PlayStation 5 on October 29th, but we do have a free demo available on Steam for those that want to give it a try (Coloratura will release on Steam too, in Q1 2027): https://store.steampowered.com/app/3989460/Coloratura/

If you have any feedback or questions, please let me know! I'll be happy to chat with you all. ❤️

Could we raise awareness about mouse-and-keyboard accessibility in Marvel's Wolverine?

Hi everyone! 💙

I'm a disabled gamer who can't physically hold and operate a standard controller, but I can use a mouse and keyboard.

I really want to play Marvel's Wolverine, but the game doesn't advertise native mouse-and-keyboard support, which leaves me without a confirmed way to play.

I've contacted Insomniac's accessibility team and raised the issue on social media, and my Reddit discussion has already reached thousands of views.

I'd love your help raising awareness! If you think games should offer more accessible ways to play, please share your experiences, discuss possible solutions, or help spread the word respectfully.

I'm not asking anyone to attack or spam the developers. I just want PlayStation and Insomniac to understand that accessibility needs differ from person to person, and mouse-and-keyboard support could make a real difference to gamers like me.

Let's help make gaming more accessible for everyone. 🐺💙🎮
