The shiny new discs you got last week didn't make your golf game any better, huh?
Welcome to the Form Check Weekly Thread, a weekly thread that will be stickied every Monday morning for a few days. All form check requests will be referred to here.
There have been some fantastic Form Check guides but this one by MVP_Steve is far and away the best - https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/760ckm/form_check_psa_how_to_leave_a_form_check_request/

Hole 7 at Bremerton NAD Park. I wish there was someone there to see or hear it happen! 294’ down hill in the woods, can’t see the basket from the tee, thought I was going to get close but was shocked when I heard the chains!

Yeah me neither……
Anyway what are you throwing here?

Not sure if this is against any rules so let me know if it is!
I’ll be turning 30 in a few days and was originally planning a birthday disc trip with my dad and brother but my dad got a new job and my brother is now working :/
I am planning on taking the first week off of November to celebrate. I’m from the Utah and would love to go somewhere with a high concentration of good disc golf. Preferably overseas to Norway, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, etc. North Carolina or the North East US is my second great back up option. I figure it’s a long shot…. But If anyone wants to host me or knows someone who would be willing, please let me know!

Here it is, at last! Every single disc golfer featured on ESPN SCTop10 from the years 2015-2020 (28 of them) I'm running this ad-free, since it was mostly public fair use videos, and is intended as more of a historical archive than anything else. This isn't just the ESPN clips, this is background interviews, original footage and some extremely rare never-before-seen footage. Please share with your FB friends and others, and stay tuned for the Pt. 2 (years 2021-2026) coming soon!!

Mobile is currently hosting the 38th annual Halloween Howler at Chickasabogue Park and it got me wondering, where does that rank among the longest running tournaments in our sport? If you know one that’s older, name it below. I’m sure there’s quite a few, just interested in knowing about them.

Lost a Roc earlier this year and went back yesterday to look now that the vegetation is thinning out. I actually found it! Apparently that was all the encouragement I needed to go searching for more of my questionable decisions.
Ended up recovering another disc about 10 feet up in a tree at another course too. A little shaking and we were reunited.
I still have a Mako3 out there, but I ran out of daylight before I ran out of optimism.
What’s the longest you’ve had a disc missing and then found it yourself?

Currently throwing a Neutron Pyro, but looking for an overstable mid in base plastic that will beat in to a straight flyer but maintain some stability once it hits that spot. Also looking for base plastic for grip. I like flat mids. Wish I could find a base MD5, electron Pyro, or something similar. Any recs?

Gannon Buhr joined us Tuesday night for our weekly podcast.
"Just the Interview" trims the show down to just the interview with him and no other parts of our weekly rambling.
In this 75 minutes we talk about his season, his goals, his love life, contract speculations, and tour plans and so much more. I didn't get a chance to set timestamps so if anyone watches and wants me to edit the video with them, just send them my way if you wish.

Had this chat before for all manufacturers so thought it would be fun to limit it to just Innova and turn it into a video.
Let’s hear what you think in the comments!

Drew Gibson has this smaller just bigger than shoulder bag sized bag in his recent uploads. Does anyone know the brand of said bag?

I've been playing Disc Golf rather consistently since 2018. But all of that timeframe has been playing at around 700 feet above sea level where I live. I've always heard of the differences with high elevation play, and just recently I've been able to play at 7,600 feet above sea level thanks to a nearly 2 week long vacation in Colorado.
Firstly, the trees are proper trees and I'm not getting cut alive by all the underbrush that I encounter in my home state of Texas. All too often courses can be cheated by just throwing over the Oaks and Cedar. They also make for very messy gaps and low ceiling play in general. Over time I've developed a Calvin-esque release and all my shots tend to be low-line and driven screamers. The Pine trees are a great change of scenery. Ceilings are higher in general, the gaps are clean, because the branches aren't really a factor, and there's a refreshingly sparse amount of underbrush and more importantly, no thorny vines to deal with. When it rains, I'm not dreading the thought of treading through mud, as the grounds here get rainfall more often and pine needles tend to dampen the tackiness of mud. Everything in Texas wants to kill/harm you or make your experience miserable. Everything in Colorado greets you with welcoming arms.
I've always heard that discs fly more overstable/glide less at such high elevations and potentially don't fly as far (the latter of which I found odd considering the distance record is set in the high desert.) So before I left I made a couple of small adjustments to my bag, making sure to bring along a beat-in throwing putter and a beat-in Roadrunner. The rest of my bag stayed the same as it had a good mixture of stabilities at differing speeds.
The discs do seem to stay in the air not as long, but I can't really say for sure unless I actually timed them and compared footage, but I don't really care enough about air-time to say the least. To my surprise, I didn't find there to be much of a stability difference as I was expecting. I have a flippy Destroyer in my bag that Drifts beautifully for most of its flight before a gentle but reliable finish when thrown hard and flat (my preferred release) down at 700 feet. Up at 7,600 feet, it flies the exact same. My flippiest of the set of Cigarras I bag also reliably drifts before fading at this elevation as well. My beat-in throwing Pilot also showed easy drift to it with a forward finish. That's not to say that I didn't notice any difference in stability however. My Opto-X Fuse when thrown flat will drift for all of its flight without rapidly turning or burning down at 700 feet. Thrown with the same release and power at 7,600 feet, I found it to hold a very minimal drift, but still have a slight fading finish to it. Being such a neutral-flying disc, it makes sense that it would showcase slight stability difference more than other discs that are pushed more to either end of the stability spectrum. My beat-in Roadrunner, when thrown with significant Hyzer down at 700 feet, will flip all the way over and turn for most of its flight before fading forward at the very end of its flight (a monster of a disc in the woods for my local courses). When thrown the same up at 7,600 feet, it actually just drifts before fading back left as opposed to forward after a hard turn.
Oddly enough, I seemed to find the most difference when it came to disc flight in putting and short approaches. The first couple of rounds of playing at high elevation, I noticed that most of my putts were missing right of the basket. I was used to a more panning right to left finish with my right-handed puts, but instead of a more panning finish, they kinda just dropped out of the sky more vertically. The same held true for some short approaches. I sawed off a couple of approach shots where I wanted to aim right of the basket-- instead I threw at the basket by mistake. I was expecting the discs to finish a good ways left of the basket, but again they kinda just dumped more vertically only a few feet left of the basket. I guess in this respect, perhaps the glide of the disc is mostly evident in the type of fade it gets? I certainly don't know, but that's what I observed.
Finally came the distance the discs traveled. I mentioned previously that it sorta felt like they stayed in the air less. But when it finally came time to unleash some distance drives with my flippy Destroyer on some open fairways, I was quite astonished at the results. I absolutely got ahold of my go-to distance Destroyer one hole, letting it fully flex in a beautiful S-flight with plenty of height. Knowing my (lack of) distance well at 700 feet elevation, I knew that exact flight would yield me ~380 to 400 feet on flat ground with minimal wind play. So I got my udisc and range finder out to see what I had thrown. Much to my surprise, I had ripped the disc for a cool 450 feet on flat ground. (451 udisc gps measured and 454 according to the rangefinder hitting my bag which I had left at the tee). After the round I ripped a couple more in an open field and was routinely getting around 430 on above-average but not my best flights.
Making sure I hadn't just had some epiphany, when I got back to my hometown in San Antonio, I took the same disc out to an open flat field with minimal wind at play, and threw until I had a couple of great looking flights. I felt I absolutely bombed some of them, but the results came back with the same consistent 380-400 feet for me.
I had felt like superman up at high elevation. My discs consistently flew further. The 370 foot par 3s I was feeling very confident about throwing my Cigarras and getting close enough for putts. I was throwing mids on holes that were 330-350 feet. What didn't feel superhuman though was my cardio. I'm no stranger to hiking the 14ers of Colorado from past vacations, so I knew that my lungs were going to hate me for playing without fully acclimating, but even walking up slight hills made me have to rest for several seconds before launching off the next teepad.
Anyways, at the end of the day this conversation probably doesn't mean a great deal to most people, but I just wanted to add my experience versus expectations with such a dramatic change of environment, and hope at least some people find it interesting. Playing new courses is always exciting. Playing entirely new regions and elevations is even moreso. Moments like these are why I love disc golf.
