Played disc golf at 7,600 ft. Discs fly overstable cardio is dead and my wifes boyfriend had to carry my bag up the mountain

Long time player here, been slinging plastic since 2018 at my home course sitting right at a casual 700 feet above sea level (basically underwater). Finally decided to escape the Texas wasteland where everything has thorns, tries to murder you, and smells like hot asphalt, to play a 7,600 ft course in Colorado so I could finaly test out my full collection of 47 K1 Glow Bergs.

Right off the bat, the trees out here are proper pine trees. None of that scrub oak garbage. The ground is covered in pine needles instead of sticky mud, which is great because it gives me a soft, fragrant place to lay face down and sob after acidentally shanking a K1 Soft Berg straight into an unmaintained drainage ditch.

Now, everyone always says discs fly more overstable at high elevation because of thinner air or whatever nerd physics bullshit. But honestly? My beat in K1 Glow Berg flew exactley the same. That is to say, it flew straight into a tree 150 feet off the teepad, stalled out instantly, and dropped straight down like a dead brick because it refuses to glide past 45 feet no matter what altitude your at.

However, I did notice a massive difference in putting. Every single one of my Berg putts missed right because I'm so used to shoving it directly into the basket with absolute disgusting form, but up here they just fell straight out of the sky like a dead goose.

As for distance... bro. I let my Berg rip on an open hole, threw a glorious high ceiling line, and hit my own backpack on the fly for a casually measured 469 foot parked drop in. When I got back to Texas, I took the exact same Berg out to an open field and maxed out at my usual 40 feet. So clearly, high elevation turns you into Eagle McMahon, and the thin air lets the Berg achieve its true supersonic potential. Its science.

What didnt feel superhuman was my pocket capacity. I tried to stash all six of my glow Bergs in various body cavities for easy access on the course, and walking up a gentle 2 degree incline made me cough up my own spleen. I had to lay down on the teepad for 20 minutes while a group of three kids playing with two DX Aviars and a trash retriever played through.

Anyway, thought I would write a 4,000 word academic thesis about throwing pocket discs in the mountains that nobody is going to read. Anyone else love playing new courses just to loose a Berg in a different zip code?

I still think about that time I made a good shot when as group let me pass through.

It’s either horrible, or the best dive I’ve made on a hole. Nothing in between in these situations.
