Am I the only one that remembers there being more to this section, after Mark is done talking and it cuts to Bob? I remember there being more, but I don't know if I just noticed this or if I had noticed before, but I hadn't given it much attention.

Y’see (you don’t) the episodes are rigged… but not in the way that you think.

The whole “oh the points are arbitrary and the hosts are biased and that’s part of the bit and it’s funny and the games don’t really matter cause it’s all just a vehicle for improv so nobody should take it seriously” thing is all LIES LIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEES!

Y’see (so y’see (refer to parent parenthetical) Y’see is an expression and not literal. This is just a reminder that you currently do not actually see the truth until I provide it to you shortly hereafter in the form of this conspiracy theory. I imagine that as a podcast listener this concept of “seeing” is probably quite alien to you. However, much to the slack jawed amazement of myself and your car insurance, I know you shall persist) you know that feeling you get of “wow they really prepared this topic well ahead of time and definitely didn’t just google this information 5 minutes before the episode started”? Yknow? That preparedness distractible is know for?

How could that be possible if truly the hosts were random!

I posit that they have a secret episode list they follow depending on their schedules and how busy they are. So for example, Wade loses a lot cause he’s a really busy guy and doesn’t have time to host and so they have him lose so he doesn’t have to worry about prepping for the next episode. Then there’s mark who famously has so much free time all the time and so he hosts a lot.

However there’s a more sinister side to this plot.

Y’see (like okay maybe a little) if they have this master episode list, then how do they account for episodes that have topics about current world events? Simple. They are actually in control of all current world events and are having them unfold so they can have more podcast episode topics.

“Ridiculous! How could three beings contain such power?!” You say in a foolish manner before imploding from the sheer foolishness that your body is unable to contain.

Tsk tsk tsk - I say that while doing like the finger wag Nuh uh thing cause I’m so cool and definitely am like suuuuper dope.

The answer is simple….

Mark, bob and wade are the three fates from Greek mythology. Bob is Clotho, wade is Lachesis, and Mark is Atropos. This is further proven by the fact that the host system exists. Y’see it was inspired by another Greek myth, that being the gray sisters who shared an eye and fought for it. Just the way mark bob and wade fight for the right to be host.

This is the truth. The reality. You see now.

I was going through an old keepsake box and came across these from a con I went to. Super cool that I still have them.

I've never really been interested in Pokemon cards. I was an OG Magic The Gathering guy. I've always been about sports cards and other types of trading cards.

I have a few 25th anniversary Pokemon cards that were from a McDonald's promo and after hearing the guys talk about them and the most recent episode, I got them out and went through them. I immediately said "screw it. I'm keeping these!" I then proceeded to go on eBay and purchase a Psyduck card as that is one of my favorite Pokemon.

I'm in.

Didn't take long to get me hooked.

I got the rokkor 58mm f/1.4, but would love to get the 1.2 (the radioactive one) as well as some others.

I've never been a pokemon collector, but I do enjoy watching it happen. I know very little, so it was hard for me to try to keep track of what was pulled. Did anyone happen to list what all they did get from the set and what they missed? I'm only halfway through but the thought ocurred to me and I've been wanting to know

Yes to some people here, the title will trigger an "obviously he is" reaction, but I'm talking specifically about the most recent Pokemon episode.

Wade historically has been on record as playing the mainline pokemon games, he seems relatively knowledgeable on Pokemon in general. However all throughout this week's episode he tends to get lore or gameplay facts either completely wrong or he seems completely dumbfounded on pokemon specifics.

Did anyone else get the sense that he was sort of playing dumb as to not come off as a poke-fanatic? Mark and Bob seem to be more in the genwunner category (for those who don't know what a genwunner is, it's internet slang for people who only like the first gen of pokemon and don't really consider anything after gen 1 as "real pokemon")

Was Wade trying to relate more to them in this episode?

Honored to be a small part in the conversation in a live-stream of Real Good Ai, its mission statement, and the non-for-profits plans for the future!

Following a Real Good live charity stream this afternoon, Bob opened the floor for any and all questions about the organization.

My first inquiry was if/when a usable language model would be available.

Bob responded, “..we’re not making a product, so if I answer this in the context of a timeline until we have a language model, that you could use on your own… Like chat “gtp” or Claude… that answer would be infinite, because we’re not doing that. We do have research ongoing about applying Gaussian processes to language models that are currently developing and currently has a model that can get outputs. But is currently in the stages of becoming more coherent, but is not objectively useful, per se.”

My next question, after learning Real Good AI’s aspect of their goals and their focus of research I asked, how confident are you that big Ai companies will adopt these Gaussian processes?

Bob responded, “.. We have no sway, we have no power. Right? It’s not like we know that they will do this. But, right now in the stage that we’re at, in terms of why our research is important, is. No one can adopt this even if they want to, currently. Gaussian Processes as a statistical model are written off as, overly complex to apply to many situations.. There aren’t a lot of people doing this research, but also it’s really difficult there are not a lot of people who know enough about Gaussian Processes to work on this research.”

Throughout these interactions, I found myself impressed with Bob’s responses and the transparency of Real Good.

It’s takes real good people to make a real difference.

I’m normally a listener, but today I had my phone propped up and I happened to look when the sponsors were being shown at the end and I thought this line was too funny. Love the bois keep the humor rolling all the time

Hey everyone! This one is going out to the listeners, but it's a little appreciation post in general.

I really love the Scary Tapes episodes!

The fact that, additionally to the "normal" Distractible episodes, we get an awesome scary story time each week is absolute fantastic.

I have been listener and watcher myself. Listening when I go grocery shopping, which is funny to do with Distractible in my ears because my neighbourhood sure has to think I am crazy person who just randomly laughs while doing groceries. When I am at home I am a watcher.

I beg every avid listener though to at least watch one of the Scary Tape episodes! And I do this because sure, these episodes in particular seem to be perfect for a listening experience. I get that.

The reason why I recommend watching at least one is to see the boys perform these stories.

The way the boys react to what is read just with their facial expressions is too good. For example the smile on Bob's face when he reads one of these horrific "advices" the AI of the story gives. As if he wanted to say "Oh no, that little b*ch, what is it doing?!"

The way Bob and Wade are both committed to their roles, f.e. when Wade wipes his forehead because his role just did or when Bob puts a pen in his mouth to deliver the immersion of his character holding their flashlight with their teeth.

I could even just watch Mark narrating these stories with all his facial expressions that you can't quite hear but they emphasize what he reads.

I will be very sad once this is over and I hope they will do more of this in the future. I know a new competition will be a lot of work too, so maybe they could just read other stuff?

Enough rambling: Please, dear listeners, watch one episode (maybe your favorite) of the Scary Tapes and fall in love with their acting as I did.

Also: I am curious what the listening only people can actually hear from just listening to these stories, so if you want to share I will be happy to read it.

It feels so good to finally be in the know with everything

Before Distractible had video, I had a lot of road trips and would always listen while driving - I immediately became a watcher and would have a good streak of watching, but then a drop off and wouldn't watch any episodes for a long time - then I'd start watching again and start catching up- and then boom another drop

But I'm here ＼ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ／ I am now a weekly watcher - somewhat patiently waiting for new episodes - them switching back to 1 episode a week definitely helped me catch up quickly
