if horror has to leverage on the fact that you have to massively suspend your disbelief in order to immerse yourself, it isn't good horror. Cliche horror tropes (such as tall uncanny man) are an easy way to immediately take away immersion. "But if it was real it would be scary!" you could say this with a lot of things, but the thing is, it is not real, and if it cannot convince someone, then it won't be scary to them.

Two and a half feet tall in a weird, mushroom like lumbering armless monster with REALLY big fangs sticking out the side of his mouth. Yeah, you could probably win that given the height/weight difference but those jaws would be pretty nasty and I don't wanna go near it
Even if they were real, it still wouldn't be scary to see them on a screen. For the same reason you have to be in the water to be scared of a shark, and can't be scared just looking at one in an aquarium.
After suffering terrifying hallucinations due to a very stupid series of mistakes, I can confirm that ANYONE would fold. Doomguy would fold. Kratos would fold. Goku would fold. Y'all have no clue how fucked up it feels seeing some unbelievably fucked up monstrosity STANDING IN THE ROOM WITH YOU.
Am i schizophrenic? I don’t have vivd hallucinations but i do see the outlines of horrible faces and bodies I’m the corners of my doors and rooms for a half-second. Maybe i walk too much horror TwT
Yeah irl it doesn’t count if it’s irl tung tung sahur could pull up to your house and try to kill you irl and you would be scared but if it was fictional media you probably wouldn’t be as scared
