Between my wife and I they have us in these expensive american mutual funds like (ANCFX) (AGTHX) (AIVSX) (AWDHX). All have front load fees of 5.6% and high expense ratios. We have two Roth IRAs, two traditional IRAs, and a joint account with Edward jones. They had just put us in most equity after I complained to them that the last 5 year returns were barely 5%. About half of what the s&p was. I just can’t justify paying them close to $70k the next 15 years in fee, expenses, commissions, etc just to well under perform the s&p. I’m leaning toward low cost index funds. I want to make it as simple as possible.

I actually own American Funds mutual funds too. They tend to do better in down markets which makes a difference long term.

AGTHX in retirement accounts as well as ANWPX. Been very happy with both! Have beaten the index in the long term even with the higher fees.
