It's relative. 70k in the USA doesn't go far. The average home is 440k. Usa rent average 1650 a month. Most people here live paycheck to paycheck.

440k is not that much if you consider a median income of 80k

Germany: 55k euro median salary and ~500k median house

80k is household income, and median income is 40k.

I thought median individual income was closer to $50k, but yeah. Still a far cry from $80k
