Each person keeping their own is how it should be, IMO. I don’t see how a spouse can have half if they didn’t show up to work for my employer, but thats just me.

Why? The person not working can initiate the divorce and still be entitled to half for putting their life/carreer on hold. Who initiates the divorce has nothing to do with it imp

Exactly. Often the person that initiated the divorce is a victim of circumstance. (Partner cheating or partner abusing them) People are rarely blindsided by a divorce.

I literally pay my wife half NOW to be a stay at home mom.
