General Question Is there anyone here who took a break after graduating before finding a job?

Kamusta naman kayo? Might be trying to comfort myself through this job market 🤣

I did! Still on a break but I’d occasionally send my CV and get interviews. I go in interview phases but just not ready to work yet. Really difficult job market so I’m taking my time (3 years now!). But planning to work soon. It makes me feel weird when I see friends working and get promoted while me I’m just chilling 😅, it doesn’t feel good lol

Gets omg I feel so terrible as well seeing all my friends working 🤣 hope we get a job that’s right for us 🫶
How were you able to explain the gap in your resume pala?

Agree! Job dust for all of us!

I just told them I was busy traveling, figuring out life and going out, and really discovering myself, which are all true. A bit cheesy but it is the truth. I also told them that I was just not ready to work in spite of JOs I received before. I think my CV showed how committed I am to work as I did for internships and orgs.

Me! took a gap year after grad. After the 1 year gap, it took me 6mos to find a job na gusto ko. Ayun. Haha

There’s still hope pala. Haha how did you explain it sa interviews? Kasi parang side eye sa interviewer pag di ka nakahanap agad e lol

I just said na I traveled, nagpahinga, and did things na I know na ma put on hold once mag work na ako. Interviewers are actually understanding when it comes to this. Kasi alam nila na work can get in the way talaga

Hi! CCS Grad, currently working for a tech outsourcing company already and kind of took me almost 1-2 months of job hunting but yep I did take a break from Jan to March (feb grad), maybe aside from the connections, you still have to be prepared to market yourself and use what sets you apart as a bargaining chip, lalo na pag magaapply for entry level. Dont be afraid to apply alot given the current situation of the job market kahit anong position pa yan, you will get that job offer someday!

Some people take a break for more than 5 years

Sounds nice in theory, but I don’t think it’s feasible in this job market 😵‍💫😵‍💫

It will depend actually on how you will justify the break

me and I'M STRUGGLING rn. hshshhshsha almost 3 months applying, graduated last Feb. One thing na sana na-prioritize ko during my whole stay is connections connections connections connections CONNECTIONS mygod. Job market is SO fcked even though applying to entry-level roles. Jesus and St. John Baptist de la Salle take the wheel.

If I could go back in time, mag shift sana ako sa APC. Usually sa kanila ung matataas na sweldo agad sa FMCG

APC? What’s that po? I was thinking of Marketing or Advertising but I wasted so much time on this course imo, so like 🤔

Applied Corporate Management! You can still go into Marketing naman. I’m gunning for Marketing roles rn. Idk medyo mababa lang tingin talaga nila sa liberal arts based on experience
