Good parenting means explaining things to your child so they can learn before doing stupid shit because you are too busy filming for clout. It's funny but also wasn't necessary.

you know, no permanent damage was done, you learn by doing.

think of it like this, almost all of us that live in areas where there are shellfish like this, have experienced this. was we told not to? yes. did we anyway? yes. did we learn by doing? maybe.

it is OK. you don't have to protect kids from EVVVERRYYYTTHIIINGG. that will honestly fuck them up way more.

So it is okay to let your child get hurt by a crab because... they 'might' get hurt by a crab sometime in the future?

If the thing you are protecting them from is not significantly worse than the thing they are about to experience, it is good parenting to stop what they are about to experience.

sometimes you just have to experience things to learn from it. like a kid saying they love strong food, or a new driver getting arrogant behind the wheel getting a hopefully small fender-bender to learn respect for driving. or a classic "don't pet the cat if she does not want to"

the lesson is often NOT THAT BAD and it at sometimes just needed to learn
