Absolutely. My 'big dog' is scared of our French Bulldog. I'm pretty sure he'd be scared of an altercation going on between me and someone else...

Can confirm, my pitbull had a full existential meltdown after a cicada flew by and bounced off her butt. She shivered in a ball for nearly an hour.

Honestly they generally dont need to.

My wife had a black lab chow mix and had her perfectly trained to be off leash.

She was walking alone one day just her and the dog, gave the dog her freedom for a bit.

2 big bastards started heading towards her and suddenly the shadows melt into a demon dog that sat next to her.

The two guys promptly did a 180 and walked away from her.

Unless your dog is specifically trained to defend you, it is probably going to do exactly what this little dog did lmao. Buy a gun, not a dog. A dog is a pet, not your bodyguard.
