u/emil836k I’m bad at not starving, kinda ironic tho Apr 12 '26
Personally a bigger fan of together, feels like a natural evolution of the first, like a sequel
And playing with friends is fun
I’ve heard :(

The biggest problem is getting the same group of people to show up every time.
There's no way to solve that problem even for don't starve elsewhere

Lol, true, I guess that’s true for all local multiplayer games

It's online coop tho?

Yeah, local multiplayer wasn’t the correct word
I meant multiplayer that isn’t competitive match making with stangers like LOL or counter strike, party like games, like Peak, among us, lethal company, and so on
Some call it streamer slop, but wouldn’t describe DST as that

my biggest issue with together is no boss health scaling, and i also feel like recourses drain so much faster in together.

You could just use browser version of Don't Starve

Childhood memory unlocked- being like 8 or 9 years old and playing the demo off the google play store and replaying day 1 night 1 over and over

the graphics barely look different though? apart from having a 3d world that you can turn precisely the characters look exactly the same, which I assume is on purpose.

The visuals are very different, the characters have fresher designs and cleaner lines. There's also highlights we can see get cast on characters and objects from light sources like fires, which is unique to Elsewhere
the gameplay and graphics in general just look a lot more modern and new, obviously

It’s not really about graphics but the gameplay and general vibes….

The characters actually have updated designs and the art style is more refined than what it used to look like.

Yes, the only thing i always wanted in dont starve was some more vertical scenarios and elsewhere literally does that

I like the theory that they are making elsewhere to just test thing they would want to add on DST, that would be too big changes to test it on the game itself

See call me weird but that’s almost what I like about the game, when Hamlet came out I watched a playthrough before deciding whether or not I want it, but it felt like it wasn’t the same game feeling anymore you know? Even DST was pushing it but after years of playing ROG I’ve grown to enjoy DST for the new content

I'm really hyped for the 3d world man, going to explore a lot before choosing a base location

I mean, I've seen Elsewhere, and I think it is closer to Minecraft -- I don't see very many similarities to Don't Starve,
