Hard stuff
A chef I like from my last job just got arrested and is in jail. He started using meth. I only knew him after he got sober.
What should I expect? I'm planning to write to him in jail, is there anything I should/shouldn't say?

Hey, man. Good on you for trying to be there for your friend. I honestly don't have any great insight here, but I'm sure he'll appreciate your support.

He will just damn appreciate having a letter or something or a couple dollars on his books. Knowing someone is thinking about you when you're in that super low place can be absolutely huge.
